Chapter 2: The chaos and your gentleness 03
Yu Qianlin helped Wen Shu find Tiao Tiao as quickly as possible. Tiao Tiao was surrounded by a group of people and was eating voraciously. Seeing that he was unharmed, Yu Qianlin immediately relaxed his tension. Then he thought about how this kid had made everyone jump up and down, and he was furious. He asked Wen Shu to stand still and rushed to Tiao Tiao: "Tiao Tiao!"
Tiao Tiao trembled when he was yelled at, and looked at Yu Qianlin with his mouth half open.
"I know you like to play, but do you know that we were almost going crazy because we couldn't find you?" Yu Qianlin pointed at Wen Shu and said, "Look at your sister Wen, she sprained her foot while trying to find you!"
Tiaotiao looked at Wenshu, something flickered in his eyes. Wenshu's heart tightened, and he jumped over on one leg, blocking Tiaotiao: "Okay, as long as we find the person."
"Get out of the way. I'm going to teach him a lesson today..."
"Let me see who wants my son to learn a lesson!" Yu Qianlin was interrupted by a man in a suit. A woman with delicate makeup was following him. The two of them took a few big steps and walked directly to Tiaotiao. "Tiaotiao, mom and dad are here to take you home."
"No!" Tiaotiao suddenly yelled, and hid behind Wen Shu again, his little body tense.
The sudden change made everyone lose consciousness for a short time. When Yu Qianlin came back to his senses, he walked up to Tiaotiao's father with a gloomy face and said, "Hello, Tiaotiao's father, I am the person in charge of Yide Martial Arts School, you..."
"Okay! I got it." Yu Qianlin's words were interrupted again in a harsh voice, "I say, what's wrong with you? So many people can't take care of a child! I think you should stop opening this martial arts school. All the children brought out are trash anyway!" After saying this, Tiaotiao's father and his wife went to coax the child, but for some reason, Tiaotiao kept hiding from his parents, saying "no" and "go away" over and over.
Wen Shu felt a little distressed, but he couldn't say anything to stop it.
"Please watch your wording!" Yu Qianlin became increasingly angry when he heard these aggressive words.
"Why, am I wrong? There's not even anyone who can make the decision, and you let a little brat deal with me. Is this the martial virtue you preach? It's ridiculous!"
"What did you say..."
"Yu Qianlin!" Wen Shu saw that Yu Qianlin was about to run away, so she shouted to stop him. She limped and endured the pain, turned sideways and bowed respectfully to Tiao Tiao's parents, "I'm sorry, Tiao Tiao got lost, it's my fault, it has nothing to do with the martial arts school, if you want to blame someone, blame me."
Wen Shu raised his body and looked at the couple neither humbly nor arrogantly.
"Where did you come from again!" Tiaotiao's mother looked at Wenshu with disdain and said coldly.
"Oh, parents of the child, don't blame these two children. They have suffered a lot for your children." Some villagers couldn't bear it and spoke up.
"That's right! Now that we've found the child, let's stop worrying about it!"
"Tsk! A bunch of country bumpkins." Tiaotiao's mother turned her gaze back to Tiaotiao, "Come on, Tiaotiao, go home with mommy."
The villagers who were scolded for no reason were not happy: "Hey! It was your baby who hid in the jar and refused to come out. We have been looking for him for the whole morning. Not only did you two not thank me, but you also scolded us? Do you think city people are so great?"
"It's a pity that they are dressed like decent people, but they are actually black. This world is really going downhill!"
"You don't know this! He is from the city. I heard from my son that people in the city look down on others."
"Oh, that nostril needs to grow bigger so I can see it clearly!"
"Hahaha……"
The villagers burst into laughter, and the couple laughed until their faces turned red. As if to vent his anger, Tiaotiao's father said to Yu Qianlin: "My Tiaotiao will not go to your crappy martial arts school anymore, and you have to compensate us!"
"I want to go!" Tiao Tiao, who had been hiding for a while, suddenly spoke up, tears hanging from the corners of his eyes. He supported his small body and confronted his father, "It's your fault. I don't want to go home!"
Tiaotiao's mother was shocked. She half-knelt in front of Tiaotiao and tried to hug him. Tiaotiao immediately pushed her hand away: "There's nothing at home, only the nanny. If you don't go home, then I don't want to go back either!"
After hearing Tiaotiao's childish words, everyone immediately understood why Tiaotiao didn't want to go home.
"Oh! No wonder Wawa doesn't want to go back."
"How cruel ! You actually left the baby to the nanny?"
…………
Wen Shu said at the right time: "Although Tiaotiao is a little naughty in the martial arts hall, he is also the most active and the one who loves to laugh the most. He never cries out when he stumbles occasionally. Today is the first time I saw him cry."
Wen Shu suddenly realized and empathized with the situation. She knew very well what it felt like to be ignored by her parents: "I remember one time when the children were talking to each other about what their biggest wish was, Tiaotiao said that what he wanted most was to eat delicious food with his parents. At that time I just thought he was greedy, but now I finally understand."
Yu Qianlin took out his cell phone, found photos of Tiao Tiao attending events, and showed them to the couple.
With blushing faces, they looked at their son's stubborn face with tears in his eyes. Their hearts felt like they were filled with a cup of bitter tea, so bitter that it was unbearable.
Tiaotiao's mother cried and hugged her son: "Tiaotiao, it's mom and dad's fault. Mom promises you that I will never leave you to a nanny again."
"Really?" Tiao Tiao was young after all, and the surprise in his eyes could not be hidden.
"Really." Tiaotiao's father also squatted down, "We ignored you. We always thought that giving you the best education and the best food and clothing would be enough. Now we know that the most important thing is to accompany you well. We will never do that again. If you want to continue learning martial arts, then continue to learn. We will agree to whatever you want to do."
The Tiaotiao in the photo was someone they had almost never seen before, and they then realized how many precious moments of their son they had missed.
"Then let's pinky promise." Tiaotiao burst into laughter and hooked her finger to make a request.
"Okay." The family of three hooked their fingers tightly together, just like their scattered hearts finally gathered together and formed a perfect shape.
That’s great! Wen Shu looked at this scene with some envy.
Although the matter had some twists and turns, it was finally resolved perfectly. To express their apologies, Tiaotiao's parents sent Wen Shu and Yu Qianlin back to the martial arts hall, and finally spoke kindly to Grandpa Yu, asking him to take good care of Tiaotiao, which confused Grandpa Yu, but after all, he was a worldly-wise man, so he still responded with a smile on his face.
Before leaving, Tiaotiao apologized to everyone: "I'm sorry, I made everyone worry."
Yu Qianlin squatted down, patted the little jumping head, and said gently: "Brother also apologizes to you. I was mean to you today."
“Yeah…” Tiao Tiao shook her head. “I’m not afraid. Sister Wen will protect me!”
"Naughty!" Yu Qianlin looked at Wen Shu with a faint smile, but there was no one there!
He asked, "Grandpa, where is Wen Shu?"
"He left early!" Grandpa Yu glanced in the direction where Wen Shu left and said in a deep voice, "This child is too thoughtful and doesn't let anyone get close to him. He will suffer a lot in the future!" He paused for a moment and said, "Come on, go in and tell me what happened on the way."
The grandfather and grandson returned to the house and sat down. After Yu Qianlin finished telling his grandfather, Grandpa Yu sighed and said, "Aren't you always curious about why Wen Shu insisted on coming to learn martial arts even though he didn't get along with you? I'll tell you now."
He poured himself a glass of water, took a sip, and continued, "Don't you think she is particularly hardworking? It's beyond your understanding."
Yu Qianlin nodded. Studying was not only hard work, but he was treating himself like a machine, and was completely absorbed in every minute in the martial arts hall.
"At first I was also scared by this little girl, but later I learned some things and I can understand it."
"What's up?"
"I asked her why she came to learn martial arts." Grandpa Yu took another sip of water, paused and asked Yu Qianlin, "Guess what she answered?"
Yu Qianlin shook his head honestly. He was curious because he didn't know.
"'To protect the people I love,' is what she said at the time."
Hearing this, Yu Qianlin was like being hit on the head. His originally vague thoughts suddenly became clear. He asked back, "Is it related to her family?"
Grandpa Yu nodded and said, "I once saw a woman secretly watching her at the door of the martial arts hall, but she never appeared in front of her. I guess this is the reason." As he spoke, Grandpa Yu remembered the girl's resolute and courageous look when she answered him.
Just a few simple words, yet they contain endless suffering and bitterness.
Thinking of this, Grandpa Yu patted his grandson on the shoulder and said, "Actually, you don't have to hide your vulnerability."
Yu Qianlin's breathing stagnated. He thought he had concealed it well, but when he met his grandfather's concerned gaze, he nodded silently: "It's okay, Grandpa. I've always been fine because of you."
"Stinky boy!" Grandpa Yu smiled comfortingly, and raised his hand to pat the back of Yu Qianlin's head , but he lifted it heavily and put it down gently, stroking the top of his head comfortingly for a few times, and then said, "Qianlin, because of you, Grandpa has become a good man and very happy."
Yu Qianlin looked at the twinkling stars outside the window and smiled gently.
A peaceful life is enough.
When Wen Shu dragged his tired body back home, he was about to take out the key to open the door, but saw that the door was half open. Then he heard Lu Sining's painful cry from the room. Wen Shu was startled and immediately kicked the door open.
What caught his eye was the dilapidated scene on the ground, and Wen Shu ran towards the bedroom where the sound came from.
"Tell me, where is the money?"
"No money, no money, I told you I have no money!"
Wen Yan, who was drunk, grabbed Lu Sining's hair and pulled her backwards. Lu Sining's body was forced to bend into a strange arc. Wen Shu didn't think twice and directly used all his strength to hit Wen Yan.
Wen Yan was caught off guard and staggered to one side. Wen Shu quickly rescued Lu Sining and helped him sit aside.
"How dare you hurt my mother!" Wen Shu was furious.
Wen Yan reacted and his face turned red with anger. His eyes were about to burst, and he stood up crookedly, and walked over to slap Wen Shu, but Wen Shu was prepared and dodged quickly, and Wen Yan's forehead hit the cabinet heavily because of his unstable center of gravity.
Wen Shu turned around to check Lu Sining's injuries, and she said gently, "Let's go."
"You little bastard, how dare you fight with your dad!" Wen Yan roared and pounced on Wen Shu again, ignoring the pain.
Lu Sining exclaimed: "Little Book!"
Wen Shu sensed the danger and tried to dodge sideways, but as he was still a novice, he was still hit hard on his right shoulder.
"I told you not to go against me!" Wen Yan hit the target with one strike, feeling very proud. But he still felt that it was not enough, so he went forward to attack again.
This time Wen Shu reacted in time and put the self-defense skills he had learned to full use. Wen Yan was kicked in a vital part by Wen Shu and immediately grimaced in pain.
He covered his sore spot and couldn't speak clearly, but he was still cursing Wen Shu. Wen Shu didn't say a word, just stared at him, staring at him.
Gradually, Wen Yan's voice became quieter and quieter, until no one could hear it.
Wen Shu then spoke in a stern voice: "If you touch my mother's hair again, I will definitely pay you back double! I promise!"
"You dare!" Wen Yan was so angry that his chest heaved violently and his hands trembled unconsciously.
"Wen Yan!" Lu Si Ning watched the strong hatred in her daughter's eyes. Her heart suddenly felt like all the bones in her body were broken and stabbed into her heart. She even felt severe pain when she breathed. She screamed, lowered her head and rushed over, knocking Wen Yan to the ground.
"Go away! I never want to see you again!" Lu Sining's eyes turned bloodshot and his whole body was shaking.
Wen Shu immediately supported her: "Mom, I'll take you to the hospital." After that, she supported Lu Sining and ignored Wen Yan who was cursing on the ground.
When she reached the door, Lu Sining turned around and took another look, her face hesitant, but just hesitant. She said to Wen Shu, "Let's go." Her voice was filled with the calmness of a person who had died.
An hour later, Wen Shu helped Lu Sining out of the hospital.
As she walked, she seemed to hear Yu Qianlin calling her, and thought it was an auditory hallucination, but Lu Sining reminded her beside her: "Xiaoshu, it seems like someone is calling you in front." Wen Shu then looked in the direction Lu Sining was looking.
Yu Qianlin, who finally got a response, waved his hand happily. He came out to buy wine for his grandfather. The old man was not only a heavy drinker, but also a picky drinker. Before Yu Qianlin went out, he even specified a specific store, which made him run a long way to find it.
He was staggering along the road with a glass of wine in his hand, but unexpectedly he met Wen Shu.
Wen Shu couldn't ignore it any longer, so he stood there and waited for him to come closer.
When Yu Qianlin approached and saw the miserable state of the mother and daughter, he took a deep breath and said, "Review the book..."
"I'm fine!" Wen Shu interrupted him coldly. At this moment, she didn't want to hear any concern, nor did she want to see any pity.
Yu Qianlin was stunned, his eyes flashed, and he said to Lu Sining: "Hello, Auntie, I am Wen Shu's classmate, my name is Yu Qianlin."
Lu Sining noticed her daughter's resistance and just nodded: "Hello, classmate."
"Mom, let's go."
"Ah... OK."
Seeing that the mother and daughter were about to leave, Yu Qianlin somehow felt that he couldn't just let Wen Shu leave like this, and he blurted out: "Wait a minute!"
"Let's go to the martial arts hall!" Yu Qianlin trotted a few steps and stood in front of Wen Shu. "Let's go to the martial arts hall. There are medicinal wines in the martial arts hall that are specially used to treat injuries. Now all the clinics nearby are closed, and there are queues for emergency treatment at the hospital. It's better to go to the martial arts hall..."
"don't want……"
"Auntie, let me help you!" Yu Qianlin knew that Wen Shu would definitely refuse, so he hurriedly and carefully helped Lu Sining over, "Believe me, my family's medicinal wine is handed down from our ancestors, it is not adulterated, and it is honest!"
The originally tense atmosphere became much more relaxed after Yu Qianlin stirred it up.
Wen Shu looked at the wounded Lu Si Ning , thinking that Wen Yan might not have left yet, so she didn't say anything more. She nodded to Lu Si Ning who was still asking for her consent, and said "thank you" softly.
Yu Qianlin pursed his lips and smiled softly.
Sure enough, his action was correct!
When they arrived at the martial arts hall, they saw Grandpa Yu, who was dozing off while waiting for his drink, being woken up. Wen Shu apologized very embarrassedly: "Master, I'm sorry for waking you up."
"Hello, old man. Sorry to bother you." On the way, Wen Shu told Lu Sining about the martial arts school. Lu Sining just treated it as the first time he heard about it and greeted Grandpa Yu naturally.
"You kid, you are being too formal with your master by saying that." Grandpa Yu disagreed and said to Lu Sining, "I think it's getting late, so you should stay here today. Don't be dissatisfied! I'm old, so I won't take care of you." He yawned as he spoke, as if he was about to fall asleep.
"Master!" Wen Shu refused without a second thought. Coming to the martial arts gym to heal her wounds was enough to ease her predicament, and she couldn't be greedy.
“Don’t refuse!” Grandpa Yu put on a stern face and pretended to be angry.
"Stop talking, Grandpa is very scary when he's angry." Yu Qianlin naturally agreed with his grandfather's suggestion. He was afraid that Wen Shu would refuse again, so he urged, "Grandpa, go and have a rest. I will take good care of Wen Shu and Auntie."
"Brat." Grandpa Yu smiled knowingly, nodded to Lu Sining, then turned back to his room.
After Grandpa Yu left, Yu Qianlin quickly took out the medicinal wine and toiletries and came to Wen Shu and his daughter, saying, "Auntie, this happened suddenly, and the conditions are a bit simple. I hope you don't mind. You and Wen Shu can only squeeze into one room tonight." He handed the medicinal wine to Wen Shu again, "Apply this after Auntie finishes washing up. Rub it directly with the palm of your hand. Don't apply it on any broken skin."
Wen Shu took it: "Thank you."
"Rub your own arms too." Yu Qianlin tilted his head, a little embarrassed.
After he said this, Wen Shu remembered that she was also injured. She moved her swollen and painful arm and thanked Yu Qianlin very sincerely.
Yu Qianlin didn't say anything more. After saying good night to the mother and daughter, he returned to his room.
Late at night, the mother and daughter lay on a bed with their backs to each other, each with different thoughts.
As soon as Lu Sining closed her eyes, what happened at home would come into her mind. The angry Wenshu, the strong and unusual Wenshu, the silent and calm Wenshu kept flashing before her eyes.
The tense confrontation between the father and daughter was like a sharp knife that cut open her heart, causing blood to flow. Wen Shu's cold words were like a thunderclap, which completely pulled her out of the mud of false hope.
At that moment, the guilt she felt towards Wen Shu was like a sudden collapse of a glacier, striking at every nerve in her body, punishing her for her previous selfishness and ignorance.
She turned over and called out, "Xiao Shu."
Wen Shu was silent and motionless.
"Xiaoshu, I know you haven't slept yet. Since you don't want to talk, just listen to your mother." As if she was homesick, when the words came to her lips, Lu Sining didn't know how to start.
She paused for a long time before she continued, "Xiaoshu, I owe you all these years. I am not qualified to ask for your forgiveness, but I want you to know that I will not be weak again for you. Mom, you should protect your children well."
Wen Shu was shocked.
Every word Lu Sining said fell into her ears and hit her heart. Lu Sining's long-overdue confession made Wen Shu both happy and scared. This might be the rain that quenched her thirst, or it might be the fatal straw.
She wasn't sure whether she could trust Lu Sining.
But the long-lost warmth was like a strong eye drop, burning her eyes. Tears flowed uncontrollably, wetting her heart.
