Chapter 2 First Encounter
Chapter 2 First Encounter
Four days of sleepless journey were enough for Selsi to arrive at the Forgotten Forest.
The Forgotten Forest is a forbidden place of the Alcanis Empire. Legend has it that there is the world's most deadly poison gas, unimaginable monsters lurking here, and an evil witch who eats people lives in the depths of the forest. No one can walk out of here alive.
But Selsi is not afraid of these. She walked into the forest, and the poison gas lingered around her but could not approach her. The monsters were afraid and hid in the invisible darkness.
The legends passed down by word of mouth are not completely correct. For example, the "evil witch" is false. This witch named Eldrin is not evil. On the contrary, she is the guardian of the soul of the ancient forest. She lives in the depths of the forest and guards the soul of nature. Selsi's friend is her.
With Eldrin's blessing, the monsters and poison gas in the forest cannot hurt her at all.
Passing through the forest, she came to the deepest forbidden area, where an old wooden house stood.
Selsi pushed open the door, and the creaking sound attracted Aldrin's attention.
"God bless you, you are finally here!"
The silver-haired woman wearing the classic black robe that witches must have came up and hugged Selsi. Selsi hugged her back and asked, "
What happened that made me receive sixteen letters in two days?"
She really couldn't think of anything that could stump this powerful demigod. After all, the contents of these sixteen letters were vague, which made her speechless and annoyed.
"Oh, dear, you don't know, this is the most painful thing I have encountered in the past year."
Aldrin immediately pulled Selsi into her room. After entering the door, the first thing Selsi saw was the woman lying on the bed.
"How could there be someone here?"
It's no wonder that Selsi was confused. Even the periphery of the Forgotten Forest was full of dangers. How did this woman get to the deepest and most dangerous place in this forest?
But she also knew why Aldrin was distressed.
Although Aldrin, as a demigod, has extraordinary abilities, she is also restricted or protected. She can't leave this forest, let alone take people out of the forest. Perhaps she is afraid that people who go out will expose the secrets here and cause harm to this forest and her.
Years of isolation had already reduced her social skills to zero, and she was afraid of anyone approaching her.
But this was just the reason she told Selsi. She was a hundred years older than Selsi. The real reason might be buried under the torrent of history, or it might be related to the rumored "evil witch", but this could only be speculated by Selsi.
Selsi was able to become friends with her because Selsi accidentally broke in that time. Selsi had long forgotten what happened at that time - or perhaps her memory was erased. I only remember that they became friends later, and she is Aldrin's only friend now.
Aldrin has been a demigod for too long. A hundred years have passed, and all the people she cared about before have already passed away. Maybe it was because the bard was close to nature, so she was lucky enough to break into the depths of the forest and was lucky enough to accept the blessing of Aldrin, who had been lonely for a long time.
Selsi looked at the woman on the bed, who was covered in wounds, and asked, "How long has she been unconscious?"
Aldrin immediately replied, "If we count today... eight days."
Selsi noticed that her tone was a little guilty, and raised her eyebrows at her. Aldrin turned his head uncomfortably,
"She woke up six days ago, but I can't communicate with people, so I cast a spell to let her continue to be unconscious. I will remove the spell for her when you come."
Selsi turned her head to look at the unconscious woman. What should she say? It can only be said that she is worthy of this. This approach is very suitable for her as a "severely socially anxious person."
"Then you can remove the spell for her," Selsi said without turning her head.
"Ah, yes, yes, I'll come right away."
Aldrin only remembered to remove the spell for her at this time. She waved her hands and recited the spell.
The woman lying on the bed gradually woke up. She looked at the two people in front of the bed with her eyes at a loss, not knowing what the situation was now.
"You... who are you and where is this place?" the woman asked hoarsely. "I... how long have I been unconscious?"
Selsi asked Aldrin to go out and get the woman a glass of water. She knew that this person would make her uncomfortable here.
"Don't be afraid, we are not bad people. This is the Oblivion Forest. My friend found you in the swamp. You have been unconscious for eight days."
Selsi patiently explained to her.
Aurelia pondered the truth of this.
She remembered that before she fell into a coma, she had just completed a murder bounty in Orinde. Unfortunately, she encountered the church that came to encircle and suppress her. She couldn't beat the abominable leader and was forced to flee in a panic. Her impression remained that she was unconscious in the sea water. It seems that after she lost consciousness, she was washed into the swamp of this forest by the sea water. However...
the Oblivion Forest, Aurelia has heard of this name. This forbidden place where no one survives, what are the identities of these two people who appear safely here?
Seeing that Aurelia had been silent, Selsi took the initiative to ask, "Are you a servant of Lord Maccas?"
Maccas's territory had a piece of land close to the Forgotten Forest, and this lord was cruel and arrogant, extravagant, and treated servants who made mistakes by throwing them into the Forgotten Forest and letting them fend for themselves.
Aurelia didn't know who Maccas was, but she didn't want to reveal her identity, so she pretended to think for a while and said, "I... I should be, right? I can't remember."
She covered her head with both hands and pretended to be in pain.
Just then, Aldrin came over with the water, and Selsi handed the water to Aurelia,
"Don't worry, it's not poisonous, we won't hurt you. My name is Selsi Melrose, and you, do you remember?"
Aldrin was not surprised that Aurelia would lose her memory. Selsi was only on the periphery and close to the middle circle at that time, and she survived because she was kindly rescued. This person appeared in the deepest part, and the injuries on her body were obviously not caused by the monsters in the forest, so her identity is worth thinking about. She will definitely disguise herself.
"My name is Tarasha Belingar," Aurelia replied after taking the water.
She didn't ask the two's identities, thinking that they were not from the church. After all, the distance between the Forest of Oblivion and the Shadow Abyss was very far, and they didn't know where she had gone.
"Do you remember where your hometown is?"
Selsi asked in a persuasive manner.
She looked at the black-haired, heterochromatic, and cold-faced woman in front of her, thinking about her true identity.
Yes, although she said that she was Lord Max's servant, she had other estimates of the true identity of this strange woman in her heart, and the authenticity of her amnesia was also questionable.
Black hair has always been considered a symbol of evil in this world, and she has heterochromatic eyes, so it is impossible not to be regarded as evil. However, there is a little possibility that she is Lord Max's handyman, but a low-level handyman, and usually disguised.
But in any case, it is definitely impossible to send her back to Lord Max.
Tarasha knew that the other party might be giving her a way out, so she answered "yes", and now asking her where her hometown is might be a further test.
"I think it's in Hofgard."
Tarasha pretended to think.
Actually, it wasn't. Her family lived in Aserton, the capital of the Alcanis Empire, next to Hofgard. Although they were next to each other, the two places were worlds apart.
Aserton was the political center, where the royal family and nobles lived. Hofgard was generally inhabited by poor people. Under the vicious cycle of oppression by the powerful, living there was indeed worse than coming to the border to gamble - accumulating military merit was one of the well-known ways to get ahead.
Seeing that the two were going to continue chatting, Aldrin couldn't stand it anymore. After enduring the smell of strangers in the room for so long, she had reached the limit of endurance.
"Well, Selsi, you send her out of the forest first, and you can talk slowly on the way."
Aldrin picked up her luggage and stuffed it into her arms.
Selsi turned her head to look at the injuries on Tarasha's body.
"Ah, it's nothing serious, I'm fine, I can go."
Tarasha held her clothes tightly and got up from the bed.
Selsi was a little helpless, "Don't make me look like a gangster, okay?"
She thought she didn't intend to start.
Aldrin added, "I've treated your injuries these days, so you shouldn't have any problems now."
As she pushed the two out of the door, she whispered in Selsi's ear, "I'll give you a bracelet of forgetfulness. Wear it to make you forget what happened before. Don't let her tell anyone about what happened here."
The woman's identity was an invisible bomb. She
slid the bracelet into her pocket in a subtle way. The whole process was so quick that there was no time to tell.
When Tarasha came to her senses, she and Selsi were already locked outside the door.
She turned around and bowed to the door, "Thank you."
