Chapter 2 Every Star Four
The last ray of sunset was swallowed up by the horizon, and the dark blue sky enveloped the earth. As scheduled, I arrived at Lian Mengsha’s villa located halfway up the mountain.
Different from the fashionable and modern architectural style, here there are only white walls and black tiles. The villa is surrounded by green bamboos, a typical Hui style, which fully reflects the owner's extraordinary taste.
I walked into the gate of the villa, passed through the chic courtyard, and came to the lobby on the first floor. To my surprise, there were only a dozen guests of my age in the lobby, and Lian Mengsha had not yet appeared. But I knew this was by no means a simple and hasty party. Just looking at the Earl Roses filling the lobby, I could tell the host's care and attention.
In the huge hall, a dozen people seemed abrupt and conspicuous, but fortunately no one noticed me. I walked straight to the food counter, took a glass of champagne, sipped it, and listened to their gossip quietly.
The girl in the red dress looked up at the stairs and said in a low voice mysteriously, "You know, we are just here to serve as a foil this time."
Someone immediately said disdainfully: "Tsk, at every birthday party of Lian Mengsha, we were always there to serve as a foil."
"I'm not talking about a foil. Maybe you don't know, Lian Mengsha had a quarrel with Xu Yun not long ago, and she couldn't let go of her pride and take the initiative to reconcile, so she wanted to take advantage of this time..."
"Ah?" someone said in surprise, but immediately changed his tone to gloating, "She has come to this day!"
Some even sneered: "Serves you right! Forget Xu Yun, who can stand her temper? It's not certain whether Xu Yun will come today."
"That's right. It's better not to come!" someone echoed, and then several people burst into laughter.
I stood aside holding the wine glass, and suddenly I felt cold all over.
Sure enough, school beauties have no real friends. But I don't sympathize with Lian Mengsha, because I know very well that all this is her own fault. There is no result without cause in the world. There is no doubt that this is a lesson I have learned at the cost of blood, a lesson I will never forget until I die.
I tilted my head back and poured all the wine in the glass into my mouth. As the wine slid down my throat, a bitter feeling surged up. I was trapped in the abyss of the past and couldn't extricate myself.
Suddenly, the crowd in the hall was in an uproar. Someone screamed softly, "Look! That's Xu Yun's car!"
I turned my head to look over. In the night, someone got out of a car, closed the door, turned sideways and looked back. The light from the porch of the villa shone on his face, and his deep eyes seemed to be dotted with stars.
A handsome young man with black hair and white clothes.
So this is what you look like, Xu Yun.
We finally meet, Xu Yun.
I couldn't take my eyes off the young man in front of me for a moment.
He walked slowly with his hands in his trouser pockets and his head lowered. The moment he stepped into the hall, he looked up at the stairs and stopped.
I couldn't help but follow his gaze and saw Lian Mengsha walking down the stairs.
With her jet-black hair and pure white floor-length dress, Lian Mengsha looks like a beautiful and elegant white swan, and at this moment I am like the ugly duckling that sets off the white swan.
However, I didn't care about that and walked straight towards Lian Mengsha. Because I knew that I only had this one chance to make Xu Yun notice me, and I could only succeed and not fail.
I mustered my courage and walked towards Lian Mengsha without looking away. When Lian Mengsha, who had been looking towards the door on the stairs, cast her eyes on me, I knew that I had succeeded. I didn't need to look back to know that Xu Yun should be staring at my back with a look of surprise .
A slightly plump figure, a pink bow top, and a white lace skirt, how could he not be familiar with such an outfit?
I didn't look back, and smiled at Lian Mengsha. Her eyes stayed on me for only a few seconds before they looked elsewhere. I knew that the end of her gaze was Xu Yun.
Lian Mengsha walked to Xu Yun and turned to look at me: "Xu Yun, this is my friend, her name is, her name is..."
I didn't wait for Lian Mengsha to finish and turned to face Xu Yun. The moment he saw my face, I clearly saw him breathe a sigh of relief without making a sound.
But I wasn’t ready to give up. I continued Lian Mengsha’s words, “Hello, Xu Yun, I’m Song Hexue. I’m Hexue from the Hexue Technique of the Feather Clan.”
After saying that, I looked at Xu Yun quietly, and then, as I wished, I saw the shock, hesitation and disbelief in his eyes. And this is exactly what I want.
Xu Yun stared at me blankly. I deliberately didn't look at him. I just smiled and nodded at Lian Mengsha and walked aside. I know very well that too much is as bad as too little.
The following was the usual birthday party routine, singing birthday songs and cutting cakes. The people who had just mocked Lian Mengsha pretended to be sincere in presenting birthday gifts and saying some insincere blessings. Lian Mengsha, surrounded by gifts, smiled happily, enjoying the feeling of being the center of attention.
I watched quietly from the side, and suddenly felt sad for Lian Mengsha and my past self. I thought everyone loved me, but I didn't know that what everyone loved was just the halo on me that could disappear at any time.
I hid in the corner and sighed to myself, when suddenly a low cry of surprise broke out from the lively crowd in the hall. I followed the gazes of the crowd and with just one glance, I felt as if I had been cursed. My whole body stiffened and I couldn't move.
The man was wearing a black tuxedo, with a tall and straight figure and a handsome face that was dazzling. But these were not the main points for me. The main point was that the man was Hua Ziyin who knew my secret.
I immediately turned my back to the door like a thief, praying that Hua Ziyin would be attracted by those girls dressed up in fancy clothes and not notice me. But then I remembered the "chance encounter" at the mall at noon, and I began to worry about the purpose of Hua Ziyin's visit. I even began to suspect that he had followed me all the way.
I turned around in fear, searching for Hua Ziyin in the crowd, and soon I saw him surrounded by many girls. He was holding a glass of wine and chatting with them, his slender eyes were full of spirit and very charming.
I stared at him closely, in case he made any unexpected move to ruin my plan. But he did nothing, just drank, chatted, and smiled. Once, I even saw his eyes looking in my direction, pausing on me for less than a second before returning to the girls surrounding him, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
His focus wasn't on me.
Just as I was secretly rejoicing, Hua Ziyin, holding a glass of wine, walked straight towards me through the crowd. Everyone's eyes were attracted by him, and finally fell on his target - me.
I stood there in a daze, watching Hua Ziyin approaching me step by step. For a moment, I wanted to turn around and run away, but my mind told me that I couldn't let this go.
Just as I raised my head and mustered up the courage to face Hua Ziyin, unexpectedly, he suddenly turned sideways and walked towards the food table next to me, just one step away. All the people who had been watching me immediately showed expressions of sudden realization and continued to play.
Although I was relieved, I still didn't dare to be careless. I stared at Hua Ziyin's back and quietly retreated. Hua Ziyin's cold voice sounded at this time. He bent over with his back to me and carefully selected the food. He seemed to be mumbling to himself, but I knew he was talking to me.
He said, "How is it? Didn't disappoint you? Well, people like us are bound to be the focus wherever we go, so why do you have to struggle? Stop being so selfish, okay? Come and help me share some of the attention."
"I never thought being the center of attention was such a good thing." Annoyance creeped into my voice unconsciously.
Hua Ziyin turned around and looked at me with a smile: "Really? But you were staring at me with envy just now."
"Which eye of yours saw that I was envious?" This man's self-confidence is simply overflowing.
"What else?" He tilted his head and thought for a while, then said to himself, "Ah, I see. It turns out it's just as I thought. It's because I look too handsome tonight, right?"
"Psycho." I turned and left.
He didn't chase me, but just raised his voice slightly and called me from behind: "Hey!"
I was afraid that he would say something shocking, so I turned back quickly.
When he saw me turn around, he had a triumphant smile on his face, but in an instant the smile disappeared between his handsome features. He raised his glass to me, his expression strangely serious.
He said, "Is it true that after you do this, you will be able to go back to your old self?"
I was stunned. I didn't expect that he had roughly guessed my plan, and I didn't expect that he would ask me such a question, which was a question that I had never thought about myself.
After you finish, what do you do? Where do you go?
Hua Ziyin pursed her lips and looked at me, as if she would not give up until she got an answer.
I stammered, “Maybe.”
"Okay, it's a deal." Hua Ziyin no longer looked at me, turned around neatly, and walked back to the crowd.
I stood there blankly, looking at the lively scene in front of me. Suddenly, I felt confused and didn't know what to do, but I knew that some things had to be done.
In the hall, there were elegant people and clinking glasses. This fake atmosphere of joy made me feel extremely depressed. I quietly walked out of the hall and walked along the bluestone path to the pavilion on one side of the courtyard. I leaned against the railing of the pavilion and admired the scenery in the courtyard under the starlight and moonlight.
What catches the eye is a tree of scattered white flowers. The thin and tiny flowers are sandwiched among the lush green leaves. When the wind blows gently, the tiny petals fall with the wind.
I was mesmerized by the white petals dancing in the wind. I heard footsteps approaching from behind me. I didn't look back, because I knew it could only be that person - Xu Yun.
Sure enough, within a few seconds, Xu Yun's slender figure appeared in the corner of my eyes. He held a wine glass in one hand, leaning on the railing three meters away from me, looking at me unscrupulously. I didn't turn my head, but just looked at the white flowers that were drifting in the wind and had no idea where to go.
Just like that, after five minutes of silence, Xu Yun finally couldn't help but speak. His voice was the kind of low but magnetic voice I had never heard before: "Lihua."
"What?"
"You are looking at pear blossoms." He pursed his lips, "Spring is coming to an end in the lonely empty courtyard, pear blossoms are all over the ground but the door is not open."
"Oh, although I don't quite understand the meaning of this poem, it sounds very sad. This kind of flower with thin petals and pale color is destined to be blown away by the wind from the beginning. Just like people, those weak people are destined to be ignored." I pointed to a gorgeous crabapple tree next to me and said to myself, "So, I still like this kind of flower. Although it will eventually wither, it was once magnificent. What about you? Which one do you like?"
I was not in a hurry at all, and I was ready to talk to him about some unimportant topic. But Xu Yun did not pick up my words. He changed the subject and asked me directly: "Are you really Song Hexue? The He of Feihe, the Xue of Xue?"
I nodded and shook my head: "It's those two words, yes, but the meaning is taken from the 'Crane Snow Technique' of the Feather Clan."
Xu Yun didn't say anything. She frowned, raised her head and poured the wine in the glass into her mouth.
I stared at his face intently: "Have you heard of the 'Feather Tribe' and the 'Crane Snow Technique'?"
He seemed unaccustomed to my staring, lowered his head to look at the wine in the glass, and murmured, "Do we know each other?"
I shook my head and lied without blinking: "Of course I don't know him."
"Well then..." He stretched out his right hand towards me, "Now we know each other, nice to meet. My name is Xu Yun."
Instead of shaking his hand, I handed him an exquisite gift box that had already been wrapped.
He looked at me puzzledly.
I smiled and waved at him, backing out of the pavilion. "I have something else to do, so I'll leave first. Can you please bring the gift to Mengsha for me? You must bring it to her! But don't tell her it's from me, I'm afraid she won't accept it. You know, she doesn't really want to be friends with someone like me."
I whispered and turned to run out of the villa gate. I didn't look back until I had run a long distance. As I expected, Xu Yun was standing alone in front of the villa in the dim moonlight.
When he saw me turning around, he immediately waved his hands vigorously at me and gestured, meaning that he would definitely help me pass on the gift.
I laughed silently and looked up at the starry sky.
Well, Song Hexue, sometimes, stars like us can also shine on our own.
