Chapter 15: Past Events (2)

In view of Mr. Wayne's sincere attitude of admitting his mistakes and huge investment, the employees of Dihuo did not make things difficult for him, but he was inevitably labeled as a delicate person by Xier.

"These are the work points calculated for you. Remember to redeem them before you leave." A worker made a few notes in a notebook.

Bruce waved his hand and said, "Exchange these work points for candies and give them to the children. It's a token of my appreciation."

  "no problem."

In order to protect this delicate old man and sell some gadgets that are inconvenient to sell in stores, Sambo personally sent Bruce Wayne back to the Goethe Hotel in the upper administrative district.

"Rich sir, this is something that was discarded by the Silver Mane Guards. Although it is unusable now, it is still a very good choice as a decoration. Since we were colleagues in the past, Old Sambo will give you a discount."

Sambo gestured a number with his hands: "For this price, you can take the things away. What do you think?"

Master Bruce didn't even look at it, and directly took out a stack of US dollars from his wallet: "I'll take care of it all."

"Hey, take care~" Sambo handed the things over with both hands with a smile on his face, and slipped away with the US dollars that were obviously worth far more than their actual value.

Tim and Shiluwa continued to follow Cocolia's footsteps, and they finally saw the second phantom -

"The first great guardian, Alisa Rand, made a huge sacrifice here to buy a chance to breathe." Cocolia's shadow continued to explain to Bronya.

"But these monsters that appeared from nowhere, as if from hell, have no fear or fatigue. Flesh and blood cannot compete with such terrible enemies."

"Fortunately, due to the influence of the star core, the underground mineral marrow has mutated and turned into a more advanced energy source. As a result, the Silver Mane Iron Guard has gained the ability to fight against it."

Bronya's shadow: "But the mineral marrow is becoming increasingly depleted..."

At this point, the phantom began to repeat the previous words. Shiluwa looked at Cocolia with a complicated expression. Although her face had not changed, she no longer looked the same as before.

Cocolia would listen to her singing on the rooftop in the middle of the night and talk to her about their future ideals, but the Great Guardian would not do that.

Tim didn't know how to comfort Shiluwa. He was too young to understand that some people, even if they were still alive, were destined to be just passers-by in his life.

The familiar feeling of dizziness came over him, and Tim entered the illusion again.

This time, he was surprised to find that he did not see Cocolia. He seemed to be standing on the battlefield of the Silver Mane Guard. The two sides fought fiercely, and even caused a crack in the ground. Bronya, the commander, was knocked to the ground by the monster's attack.

Because of this accident, Bronya fell into the lower class area.

Xier, who was on a mission, found her and brought her back to Natasha's clinic.

"Who are you? Where is this place?" Bronya, who had regained consciousness, clutched her weapon tightly.

"Don't panic, little girl of the Silver Mane Guard. This is the lower area. I am Oleg, the leader of the Underfire." Oleg calmly comforted Bronya and answered her questions.

"I'm sorry, I lost my composure." Bronya breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank you for rescuing me. The Silver Mane Guard will always be grateful for your efforts. But I have something important to do and must return to the upper area."

"Hmph, you're really a young lady. You can't stand the air in the lower class after just a short while?" Seele leaned against the wall and snorted disdainfully. Don't get me wrong, she was not targeting Bronya, she just looked down on everyone in the upper class equally.

"You!" Bronya was slightly angry, but her good upbringing made her hold back: "I never thought so. I do have something important to do and need to return to the upper area."

"It's up to you. I guess everyone who comes to the lower class says so." Xier rolled her eyes in disdain, certain that this young lady was just not used to life in the lower class and wanted to escape.

"You are really unreasonable." Bronya didn't know how she had offended this guy, and responded with disgust.

The first time they met, Bronya and Seele, the future best partners, parted on bad terms.

Oleg seemed to have guessed something from Bronya's clothes, and he asked Bronya to help collect medicine from Rivet Town which was occupied by monsters.

"Her? Let me go." Xier said.

"Please don't worry. As the commander of the Silver Mane Guard, I can do the job." Bronya was not to be outdone, and the calm heir was forced to behave in a childish manner.

"You two should go, so you can take care of each other. The medicines in the clinic are important, so put any conflicts aside for now." Natasha made the final decision, and Xier stopped arguing when she saw that it was Natasha who spoke.

The story unfolds in this way. The environment in Rivet Town is far worse than Bronya imagined, and Bronya's ability is beyond Seele's expectations. Both of them have some changes in their views of each other.

After knowing that it was Seele who found her and brought her back to the clinic, Bronya solemnly thanked Seele.

"Fuck, why are you talking like that?" The underground big sister who had never heard the sweet talk of intellectuals stammered, "Even if I wasn't there, someone else would have sent you to the clinic."

"But I still want to thank you, Seele, you have a sincere heart." Bronya said from the bottom of her heart.

If you ask me, this sounds a bit ambiguous. Comment from Tim, who lives in the Bat House where no one likes to talk to each other.

Seele blushed and accepted Bronya's thanks. They carefully searched all the places where medicines might be hidden. After counting the collected supplies, the two found that they were still missing a box of bandages.

"Look again, I know there is another place." Seele said this and led Bronya to a familiar road.

"Have I been to this place before?" Bronya looked around in confusion. Although this place was a bit dilapidated because it was occupied by monsters, the unchanging scenery and buildings still gave her some familiar memories.

"How is that possible? Aren't you the eldest lady of the upper class area? How is it possible that you have been to the place of the poor people in our lower class area?" Xier retorted.

But Bronya chose to trust her intuition: "No, I should have been here, but I seem to have forgotten. Keep going, Seele."

So they climbed the stairs and came to the orphanage built on a high place. Children's graffiti were still on the walls of the orphanage, and the swings and slides in the open space seemed to retain the children's laughter.

Bronya found a snow globe here.

"I remember now, I lived here." She held the snow globe, and vague memories emerged from her mind.

"Before I became the heir to the Great Guardian, I had been living in this orphanage. Then one day, several adults came here. They did some tests and took me away..."

"Wait a minute," the blind student Xier noticed something interesting, "Are you the successor to the Great Guardian?"

"I thought you would know it when you see my attire. After all, the commanders of the Silver Mane Guards have always been the heirs of the Great Guardians."

"I haven't seen the Silver Mane Guard, how would I know?" Xier said unconvinced.

But it was this little episode that interrupted Bronya's steps of recollection: "I never thought that life in the lower class would be so bad, Seele, I promise you, I will definitely speak to my mother to lift the blockade between the upper and lower classes."

They found the last box of bandages and took all the supplies back to Natasha's medical clinic.

"Thank you, Bronya and Seele. With these things, the medical center can last for a while longer." Natasha nodded to them and directed several people to move the supplies into the storage room.

Oleg also came back, and he brought good news: "New mineral veins have been discovered underground, and the miners don't need to worry about losing their jobs."

  "That's great." Bronya said happily.

A hand reached out and snapped its fingers.

Shiluwa: "Wake up, what do you see?"

Tim came back to his senses and told the story of how Bronya met the Underworld Fire. After listening to it, Sylva thought about it:

"The selection of the Grand Guardians of all previous generations was done by the City Builders, starting with the children. Cocolia told me that she had no memory of anything before she became the heir. I think this is because the City Builders are worried that the Grand Guardians will be influenced by their original families and make judgments that are unfavorable to Beloberg."

"But is this system really good? Brainwashing young children and keeping them away from their loved ones, even if the reward is to become a great guardian, is it really okay?"

Tim couldn't help but ask back.

Shiluwa didn't know how to explain. If she knew how to play politics, she wouldn't be kicked out of the City Builders. "At least every Great Guardian in the past has willingly undertaken his mission. This is Beloberg, surrounded by ice and snow. We don't have time to hold a grand election."

Players in the consciousness space: "At least, at least it's better than the elections of free democracy,"

"Look at what kind of idiots have been elected in the West in recent years. A policy that benefits the country and the people often takes ten or twenty years to implement, while a politician's term of office is only four to five years. Who would go through the trouble of leaving achievements for their political opponents?"

After the election, they continued to look for the truth. On the other side, in the Goethe Hotel, the omnipotent Batman finally pieced together a slightly usable weapon from a pile of scrap metal.

"What an interesting design idea. Did he improve the design of Silvermane's weapons as well?" The players marveled at the idea and gained a new understanding of the cheats that world consciousness gave to Batman.

System: "Do you know how difficult it is for me to disassemble a complete weapon into pieces and put them back together into scrap metal? He actually didn't put it together according to the original version!"

"As long as the program runs, don't ask for too much."
