Chapter 128 Engagement

Chapter 129 Engagement
The Wen family and the Fang family held an engagement ceremony on a sunny day.

Hearing that his niece was going to get engaged, Fang Qing's uncle specially spent a lot of money to book a luxurious box in the newest hotel in the county. He ordered a large table of sumptuous banquets, bought several boxes of the best wines from the county winery, and even asked the hotel to decorate the box beautifully, just to save face for both families.

In addition to Wen Ning's parents, the Wen family also had Wen Ning's second aunt and her family. Although Wen Ning's aunt was not well educated, she was kind and friendly. She took Fang Qing's mother's hand and kept praising Fang Qing, which eased the embarrassment of Wen's mother who had been silent all the time.

After three rounds of drinks, under the auspices of the master of ceremonies, the Wen family and the Fang family began to exchange tokens of engagement.

Regardless of the bitterness between the two families, now that they had agreed to the engagement, Liu Chunxia felt it was time to show due respect. So, she asked a friend to buy an expensive watch in the provincial capital.

Watching Fang Qing put the diamond-encrusted watch on her son's wrist, Wen's mother's sullen expression finally softened.

Her son's pressure had forced her to agree to the engagement, but unexpectedly, the Fang family disagreed.

If it weren't for the children's inseparable bond, Fang Qing's aunt and uncle, feeling it would be a shame to separate the young couple, persuaded them to sit down and discuss matters again.

The Wen and Fang families discussed the engagement first, deciding to hold the wedding after both children graduated and secured jobs.

With everything settled, they chose an auspicious date for the engagement ceremony.

Wen's mother had initially been reluctant to hand over the three golds she had prepared, but her son and husband felt it was a waste of time to resort to such tactics.

After so many days of persuasion from relatives, Wen's mother's thoughts have also softened a little.

Although the Fang family is an ordinary family, their life is getting better and better. Not to mention that the Fang family now has several properties, even Fang Qing's uncle is said to have made a big business outside.

If you look at it this way, the conditions of the Fang family are worthy of her son.

If her son needs to make connections in the future, the Fang family is so rich that they can't just sit back and watch.

Thinking about it this way, Wen's mother came to her senses.

After all, Fang Qing is a very good child to be honest, but at the engagement banquet today, when she saw Fang Qing's mother Liu Chunxia, Wen's mother felt that her relative still had some opinions about her, and the smile on her face faded a little.

Wen's mother was thinking, when her husband beside her suddenly pulled her sleeve. Then she noticed that the emcee was calling her. The engagement banquet had entered the next stage and it was the man's turn to bring out the engagement gift.

Wen's mother then reluctantly pulled a box from her bag and handed it over. "These are the three golds I bought at the Golden Phoenix Tower. I hope you two will work together in the future, and we, as parents, will be relieved."

Seeing Wen Ning adorning her daughter with gold earrings, a ring, and a necklace, Liu Chunxia's initial resentment finally eased a bit.

The engagement party ended in an awkward yet lively atmosphere. Fang Qing and Wen Ning stood at the door to see off the guests.

Both Fang Qing and Wen Ning had dressed formally for the engagement party.

Wen Ning wore a smartly tailored suit, a trendy style that made him look even more elegant and refined.

Fang Qing wore a pale pink dress, specially picked out by her aunt at the department store. The top featured a butterfly collar and lantern sleeves, while the pleated skirt, with its nipped waist, enhanced Fang Qing's sleek silhouette and youthful beauty.

The two, a perfect match, were the envy of those around them.

Father Wen was so drunk that he could hardly stand, and was helped out by Mother Wen. Looking at the young couple standing together, he was so excited that his eyes turned dizzy. He patted his son's shoulder and told him, "You two...you must be well..."

Mother Wen didn't say anything, but just told Wen Ning not to go home too late.

Mother Fang knew that the young couple had something to say, so after seeing off the guests, she packed up and went home first. After

leaving the hotel, the two finally breathed a sigh of relief and walked slowly along the road hand in hand.

It was not long after the Lantern Festival, and there were still lanterns and ice sculptures in the square. The two walked here unknowingly, watching the people coming and going and the red lights on the treetops, as if they were back to those green days.

That year, Fang Qing didn't appreciate the lanterns on the snowy night at all because he wanted to save the child, but this year he could finally watch them with peace of mind.

The two strolled and guessed the lanterns, and it was a rare moment of silence.

A couple not far away watched Fang Qing and Wen Ning pass by, then turned to glance at the child in their arms. "Is that her?"

A young man's face emerged from the light. Though still immature, his three-dimensional features were handsome. He watched the two people strolling hand in hand in the distance, his eyes flickering back and forth over the woman. After Fang Qing turned, he finally saw her clearly and nodded. "It's her."

The two people behind him breathed a sigh of relief, lowered their heads, and ordered their attendants to go and get information. The three of them stood in the square for a moment before turning and leaving.

The next morning, Fang Qing was about to leave for his field trip when there was a knock at the courtyard door.

Fang's mother, steaming buns in the kitchen, emerged. "Who's here so early? Qingqing, go open the door and take a look."

Fang Qing, who was about to leave, opened the door and saw several people standing outside. Leading them was a man and a woman dressed simply and elegantly, their clothes clearly expensive.

Before Fang Qing could speak, the woman stepped forward and asked, "Excuse me, are you Fang Qing?"

Fang Qing nodded. "Who are you looking for?"

The woman smiled gently, looking Fang Qing up and down before narrowing her eyes. "We're looking for you." "

  Looking for me? "

Fang Qing was bewildered. He had never seen these people before. Judging from their attire, the bodyguards around them, and the luxury car behind them, he could tell they must be a wealthy family. But he had never heard of such prominent relatives. Why would they come looking for him?

Since they were looking for him, Fang Qing had no choice but to invite them inside to rest. She brewed a pot of tea, and after her mother had settled on the sofa, she finally looked at the two people across from her.

The two across from her didn't hesitate, stating their purpose. "We're here to thank you in person."

When they explained they were specifically here to thank Fang Qing for saving their child, Fang Qing suddenly realized they were the boy's parents!
"So it's you two. How's the child? I wonder what brings you here?"

The woman glanced at Fang Qing, remained silent for a long time, and finally spoke. "We'd like to ask you to be my child's tutor."
