Chapter 127 Jinx, Lina and Philos
The next morning.
This move by Hilco can be said to be a brilliant one.
Ace Agent Miss Jinx was a better spy than any he had ever sent before.
It took her less than a day to successfully infiltrate the Leader Association and gain the trust of the Leader's top management.
He even sneaked quietly to the bedside of Lina, the sister of Levi, the leader's president.
"Get up, Jessica." In the morning, Lina woke up Jinx who was still sleeping in.
"Hmm?" Jinx opened her sleepy eyes, her eyes still a little blurry.
Then, with a trace of crystal saliva hanging from the corner of her mouth, she let her long blue hair hang messily on her shoulders, tucked the quilt in her trance, and sat up on the bed.
"Did you sleep well last night?" Lina asked with concern while smoothing Jinx's messy long hair.
"Yeah...very good." Jinx finally came to her senses.
She was a little surprised that she slept so deeply and peacefully last night.
There are no midnight nightmares and no evil spirits seeking revenge.
There was no disappointed and angry look in Wei's eyes that came to mind.
Jinx hadn't had such a good night's sleep in years, ever since the day she accidentally blew up and killed her family and friends.
"It's good to have a good rest." Lina is very caring.
She helped Jinx straighten her hair and then braided her long blue hair into a thin braid.
At first, Jinx was a little uncomfortable with being taken care of by Lina, but gradually she began to adapt, and even leaned her head comfortably on her sister Lina, enjoying it quietly.
"Jessica, have you made a decision about what I asked you yesterday?"
"Do you want to go to the factory, the community, or work and study in our leader's scientific research department as a trainee?"
Lina was like an older sister planning her younger sister's career direction, and she was nagging at length:
"I've seen the electromagnetic shock gun you invented. It's hard to imagine that you created this weapon by yourself in the Zaun Sump District by learning by yourself and collecting the materials yourself."
"Jessica, you are a genius."
"So, I suggest you go work in the scientific research department. With your talent, you will definitely be appreciated by Professor Victor and get more training and development there."
"I won't." Jinx shook her head: "I want to work with you, Sister Lina. Wherever you go, I will go."
“My job is dangerous,” Lina said.
“Isn’t it just wandering around Zaun?” Jinx: “You know I’m a better fighter than you!”
"But you are not qualified yet." Lina shook her head again: "You must be a formal member of the Leader to join the investigation team."
"I don't care...I want to be with you!"
The voice even sounded a bit like the spoiled tone of the little brat that Jinx used to hate the most.
Hmm... disguise, yes, this is all my disguise!
Jinx explained this in her mind.
And her perfect disguise really fooled Lina.
“Okay…” Lina was helpless: “I’ll give you a few more days, and you can think about it more.”
"The investigation team needs to rest these few days, and I won't go back to Zaun. Just follow me and wander around Piltover."
"So where are we going now?" Jinx lifted the quilt expectantly and jumped down barefoot.
"I'm not going anywhere right now. I have things to do."
"Are you going out?" Jinx then noticed that Lina had changed into a college outfit today, with a suit, short skirt, leather shoes and white stockings. She even changed her glasses back to a more gentle gold-thread style.
"Well, I want to go back to school." Lina is still a college student who has not graduated yet.
Piltover University is very lax about student attendance in class, but very strict about professional exams. You can skip classes, but you must pass the exams.
This is a system specially designed by Piltover University for geniuses who do not need to attend every class.
Lina is also considered a genius and is fully capable of balancing her studies and work as a leader.
And she went back to school today to take the professional course examination.
"Do you want to go with me to take the exam? It will be boring." Lina advised.
Jinx replied, not surprisingly: "I'm going!"
…
Piltover University, Hextech Institute.
"Look, this is the laboratory of Hextech Institute. It's Professors Jace and Victor..."
Lina acted as a tour guide for Jinx, introducing the highest institution of learning in Piltover to this "country girl".
"Wow, that's amazing~" Jinx acted very surprised.
In fact, she had been here before.
Not only has she been here, but she also got many of the materials for making fish bones, bang bang guns, and electromagnetic shock guns from here for free.
What the hell is Piltover University? It’s just a warehouse where she buys goods for free.
Jinx didn't care about the scenery here, she only cared about Lina.
But before her sister Lina entered the teaching building, she encountered trouble - or rather, a troublesome person.
"Hey! Lina, you're finally back to school!" Someone called her in a cold tone.
Lina and Jinx looked back:
They saw a noble girl with long silver-grey hair, staring at them with unfriendly eyes.
"Who are you?" Lina knew her, but couldn't remember her name for a moment.
"Kaya! Kaya Fellowes! The eldest daughter of the Fellowes family, a student of Professor Jace, Kaya Fellowes!"
Lina actually pretended not to know her, which made Miss Kaya very angry.
"Oh, it's Kaya..." Lina realized belatedly:
It was her, Kaya Firoz.
The genius young lady who had competed with her for a place in Jess's research group was, of course, also the bad guy who openly excluded and bullied her in school.
"I'm sorry, I really didn't think of it just now." Lina said sincerely.
She wasn't being sarcastic. She really had forgotten about Kaya.
Over the past month or so, Lina's life has changed dramatically.
She has hardly been back to school recently, and every day she thinks about how to save her hometown and how to change the world...
Compared with the fate of all mankind, what did the grudges she had with a female classmate in school matter?
What does she, Kaya Firoz, mean?
Lina remembered every orphan, refugee, worker, and gangster she had visited in Zaun - she just couldn't remember that she had ever offended a noble lady named Kaya.
"If I have offended you in the past, I hope you can forgive me."
"I came back today just to take the exam. I will leave by myself after the exam. I won't cause you any trouble, Miss Kaya."
Lina kept a low profile, but anyone could hear the confidence and calmness in her tone.
She didn't hate Kaya, she just looked down on her.
"You!" Kaya Firoz was so angry that her teeth were itching.
However, she was not looking for trouble. After not seeing each other for more than a month, she still came to bother Lina for the past grudges.
She went to Lina because Lina had provoked her again.
Or rather, it was the leader who provoked her:
"Lina, the 'Jana Thought Study Group', the 'Wind Leader Branch', and the 'Wind Chaser Branch' in our school were all started by you and your brother, right?"
"Look what you wrote in the article!"
Kaya angrily took out a few pamphlets, including "A Brief Account of Janna's Thought" and some current affairs articles published by students themselves:
"You actually openly insulted and slandered our Philos family in your article!"
"What?" Lina was puzzled: "Impossible?"
The Leader is still talking about non-violence and non-cooperation, so how could he possibly name-call the most powerful local force in Piltover, the "uncrowned king" Philos family?
"Why not?" Kaya flipped through a few articles: "Here, you are scolding the ancestors of the Philos family for achieving the primitive accumulation of capital through colonial plunder, saying that the foundation of our wealth is built on the blood, sweat and bones of colonial slaves..."
"Here, you are accusing us of using patent barriers, technological hegemony, and even shady assassination methods to form an absolute monopoly in the industry and squeeze unreasonable excess profits from the people of Zaun and even Piltover."
“…”
Miss Kaya pointed out indignantly several places where the Leader was disrespectful to the Firos family.
Indeed, every word in it was harsh. Although there was not a single dirty word, it stripped the person's underwear cleanly and even cursed his eight generations of ancestors.
Don't mention Lina.
Even Jinx, who doesn’t like reading, can see this:
“These articles only criticize the monopoly groups that carry out assassinations, but they don’t say who they are!”
"Don't try to quibble!" Miss Kaya was furious: "Don't I know who the assassination monopoly is?"
