Chapter 118 The Strange Book

Chapter 119 The Strange Book
This episode did not affect Wen Ning. After New Year's Day, he continued to attend classes and work as usual. He did not open the package and took it back when he went to make up lessons.

The girl seemed to know nothing and said nothing. She studied normally as usual.

On this day, Wen Ning was supposed to give those two students extra lessons, but he suddenly ran back not long after he left.

At that time, Fang Qing was drawing a design in the studio and got all covered in paint. Suddenly, she heard a flurry of footsteps in the corridor. Before she could go out to check, the door was pushed open. Wen Ning walked in with a cold face, took a few steps forward and hugged her.

Fang Qing didn't know what happened, but she could clearly feel that Wen Ning's arms were shaking while he was holding her.

"Brother Ning... what's wrong with you? Didn't you go to cram school? Why are you back?"

A long silence filled her. Fang Qing opened her mouth several times to ask, but she remained silent. She hugged Wen Ning back tightly, patting his back gently as she often did to comfort him. "It's okay, I'm here, it's okay..."

Sunlight from outside slowly streamed in, gradually warming the room. The painting on Fang Qing's drawing board was dimmed by the sunlight, and Wen Ning finally opened his eyes.

He let go of Fang Qing's hand and scratched his hair uncomfortably, his ears reddening again beneath his hair. Wen Ning didn't dare meet Fang Qing's eyes, instead looking at the drawing, abruptly changing the subject. "Hey, this... is a new design?"

Fang Qing didn't expose his question, but nodded with a smile. "How is it? Give me some advice?"

Wen Ning coughed to cover his embarrassment, then walked over to examine the drawing board carefully, offering some suggestions from a buyer's perspective.

Fang Qing carefully wrote down the design in her notebook, then asked Wen Ning to sit for a while while she began to revise the design.

As the light in the room faded from bright to dim, Fang Qing finally stopped writing, stretched, and stood up. "That's all for today. Let's go eat."

After dinner, the two of them strolled around the campus and sat down on a bench by the lake.

The golden-red fireball slowly sank into the dark blue sky, its dazzling light gradually swallowed by the darkness, leaving only layers of red light, like the traces of a struggle.

"What happened today...? You looked so panicked back then. Can you tell me?" Fang Qing leaned against Wen Ning's shoulder. The setting sun cast a lasting warmth on them both, yet it felt indescribably cold.

Wen Ning stared at the sunset in the distance, silent for a long moment, his arms tightening around Fang Qing.

He didn't know how to explain what had happened today.

Today, he arrived at the villa as usual. The students he was taking tutoring classes with next door hadn't arrived yet, so the housekeeper invited him to the study to rest. She made a pot of tea and went downstairs.

Wen Ning drank two cups of tea, and when he saw no one was around, he stood up and walked around the study. Perhaps having drunk too much water, he followed his memory and found the restroom. On his way back, he stumbled upon an open door.

He instinctively went forward to close it, but suddenly saw an unusual red glow inside!

Thinking there was a fire, Wen Ning hurried inside. Upon entering, he found a young woman sitting with her back to him in front of a brazier, mumbling something incomprehensibly as she added paper to the brazier.

The scene was incredibly eerie, and Wen Ning instinctively held his breath and slowly retreated. Feeling it would be rude to enter someone else's house without permission, he didn't disturb the girl and headed straight back to his study.

Sitting in a chair, Wen Ning's mind was still swirling with the scene he had just seen. He felt uneasy, so he stood up and searched the bookshelf behind him for a book to calm his nerves.

Flipping through a few books, he noticed one with frayed edges.

It looked like the owner had been flipping through it frequently.

Curiosity drove him to slowly pull the book out, but as he flipped through it, his fear grew. This book wasn't a masterpiece at all, but rather something resembling an ancient diary.

Wen Ning didn't recognize some of the characters, but he understood the images. It was clearly a cult pamphlet, filled with bloody and terrifying methods of punishment. The bizarre methods made his heart race. Wen Ning, sensing the danger, quickly closed the book.

A slip of paper fluttered down. He picked it up, glanced at it, and immediately frowned.

The slip contained a few words haphazardly listed, but Wen Ning discerned that, taken together, they represented a person.

Besides height, weight, skin color, and hair, it also listed the person's network of relationships. In the lower right corner, he listed a dozen or so methods of revenge.

The more Wen Ning read, the deeper his frown grew. As the words came together, the image they described gradually crystallized in his mind!
Black hair, bright eyes, fair skin, beautiful appearance, ordinary family, smart, quiet, artistic...

Wen Ning suddenly felt as if his throat was strangled and he couldn't breathe for a moment. Putting all this information together,
the only one who fits the description best is Fang Qing!

"Teacher Wen, what are you doing?" A sweet voice sounded behind Wen Ning, like a demon in a horror movie, scaring him so much that he almost threw the book away. Seeing that they were students he was tutoring, Wen Ning instantly regained his composure, stuffed the note back as if nothing had happened, and put the book back on the bookshelf.

"Reading, because you are late." Wen Ning turned around calmly and prepared to tutor normally as usual.

But the girl next to him kept staring at him, and she became a little excited when she saw the sweat on his forehead, "Teacher Wen, you saw it, right? How do you feel?"

Wen Ning paused flipping through the book, and looked at the girl with cold eyes, "I don't understand what you are talking about. It has been delayed for a long time. My time is limited. Please sit down."

The girl acted as if she didn't hear what he said. She sat down on the table with impunity, leaning forward slightly and getting closer to Wen Ning. "Teacher Wen, don't pretend. I know you saw everything. So, those things are interesting, right? Don't you have anything you want to say? Don't you think... they look like the same person..."

Wen Ning narrowed his eyes slightly, and the hand holding the pen tightened subconsciously. He stared at the girl for a long while, suddenly lowered his eyes, and began to pack up his things. "It seems that you don't need to make up lessons today, so I'll take my leave."

Wen Ning packed up his things quickly, turned around and ran to the door, but the girl behind him still refused to give in. "Hehe, even if you don't say it, I know you must be shocked and scared, right? Teacher Wen, there are some things that you can't avoid by running away..."

Crazy, this guy is a lunatic!
Wen Ning didn't stop, and without bothering to explain to the housekeeper, he rushed out of the villa and rushed back to school by car.

Wen Ning didn't understand why a good remedial lesson had turned out like this, nor did he understand why the girl would do this, but at this moment he couldn't care less. He wanted to see Fang Qing, to see that she was safe and sound!
