Chapter 117 The Strange Girl
Chapter 118 The Strange Girl
After settling everything, Wen Ning took Fang Qing to dinner and took a walk around the school to digest the food.
Wen Ning thought about his own affairs in the past few days and felt that he should inform Fang Qing.
"Qingqing, starting from next week, I may not be able to have dinner with you anymore."
Fang Qing was a little surprised and stopped to look at him, "What's wrong? Did something happen, or are you going to compete again?"
Wen Ning touched her woolen hat and smiled gently, "Neither, I asked you to find me a part-time job tutoring two local high school students. The working hours are flexible and the salary is good. But this means I can't accompany you on weekends."
Fang Qing breathed a sigh of relief and waved her hand nonchalantly, "I thought something had happened. It's a good thing that you found a part-time job. Just go for it boldly. I absolutely support you."
Wen Ning put her hand in her pocket, and the two continued to walk slowly back along the lake, "But in this case, I won't have time to take care of you. If you encounter any problems in the student union, go to my friends. I have already greeted them in advance."
Fang Qing had never seen Wen Ning so nagging. Although his instructions were all trivial, Fang Qing was very happy to hear them.
"Okay, okay, I get it. I'm fine, and I won't cause you any trouble. You, just go out and work, and I'll be running around on campus again..."
Neither of them could have imagined that this make-up class would cause them countless troubles in the years that followed.
The days that followed were uneventful yet busy.
Wen Ning was a sophomore, and besides his regular classes, he also had to prepare for various competitions and work part-time, so the two of them suddenly saw each other less and less.
Fang Qing was a little uncomfortable at first, but she also understood that not everyone needed to be by her side all the time. To make up for the sudden lack of free time, she began to fill her schedule with more activities.
In addition to her regular classes, she began using her spare time to create simple designs based on her on-demand courses, taking interior and exterior decoration courses, and even started working at nearby decoration companies. On weekends, she would go to the activity room to draw her designs.
Because she had previously been weak and often fainted, Fang Qing took this opportunity to start a fitness routine. Every night before bed, she would run a few laps around the playground, memorizing vocabulary words as she ran, and each day felt more fulfilling.
Wen Ning had a rare day off that day, so the two of them agreed to have lunch together.
Fang Qing frowned as he looked at Wen Ning peeling eggs for him across from him, with only a bowl of vegetables and a steamed bun in front of him. Fang Qing knew that Wen Ning actually loved to eat. Although he didn't say it, when he was in his hometown, he was always very active every time his mother made delicious snacks. But now he was so harsh on himself, and Fang Qing felt uncomfortable.
This guy, when he earned money, he bought fruits for himself, but he was reluctant to eat something good for himself. He
turned around and got a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a salad, and pushed them over together, "You haven't eaten well recently, have you? I see you've lost weight. Don't eat the steamed bun, eat this."
The fragrant chicken soup wrapped around the silky noodles, and the emerald green onions made the chicken soup burst with an attractive aroma. Wen Ning couldn't resist Fang Qing, so he had to put down the steamed bun and picked up the chopsticks with a smile.
After taking a sip, he nodded repeatedly, "This soup is well stewed, you should try it too."
As he spoke, he scooped a spoonful of soup and handed it to Fang Qing. Fang Qing drank it in small sips, and felt that his mouth was full of freshness and fragrance. He immediately felt that it was worth spending an extra three yuan to buy this soup noodle.
"This should be stewed with old hens. The soup is clear and delicious, and even the oil has been skimmed off. The cafeteria has been paying more and more attention to the food recently. The money is worth spending. You should finish it all. It's more nutritious than eating steamed buns."
Wen Ning lowered his head and ate the noodles honestly. The scene seemed familiar. He suddenly remembered that Fang Qing had also made him a bowl of noodles. Although that bowl of noodles was plain with clear soup, to this day, he still couldn't forget the happiness he felt at that moment. Wen Ning's ears were red, and he said while stirring the noodles: "I still think that the bowl of noodles you made for me that time was better."
Thinking of the day when the two of them got engaged, Fang Qing looked embarrassed, hurriedly lowered her head to scoop up the food in the bowl, picked up a piece of meat and stuffed it into his mouth, "Eat quickly, even eating can't stop your mouth..."
Not long after, the school was on holiday for three days for New Year's Day. Wen Ning finally had time to rest and was ready to take Fang Qing to see a movie. When they reached the school gate, the guard ran over to stop Wen Ning and said that there was a package for him.
"Young man, this is it. A driver delivered it, and they specifically said it's for you."
Wen Ning was a well-known figure on campus, and he had a good relationship with the security guards. Most of them knew him.
Wen Ning smiled and thanked them. After accepting the package, he noticed there was no shipping information on it. "Uncle Zhang, do you have any impression of the person who delivered the package?"
The security guard, Uncle Zhang, lit his pipe and took a long drag. His features were hard to discern through the swirling smoke. "I've never seen him before, but he's dressed very elegantly, like a driver from a wealthy family. The car is polished to a shine. I don't recognize the make, but it's obviously a good one!"
Wen Ning frowned slightly; he didn't know anyone like him among his social circles. He thanked the security guard, took the box back to the dormitory, and told them not to touch it before taking Fang Qing out to play.
That evening, Wen Ning returned to the dormitory and stared at the box for a long, silent moment. Finally, he got dressed and went downstairs to make a phone call at the school canteen.
The phone rang and was picked up shortly after. Wen Ning's voice was heard, followed by a sweet, "Teacher Wen, how did you find time to call me? I've been working on my homework and haven't been slacking off."
Wen Ning held the phone and turned sideways, looking toward the streetlight in the distance. "You delivered the package, right? Thank you for your kindness, but your father has already paid my salary, so there's no need for anything else. I'll send it back another day."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, followed by the sound of a young girl's silvery laughter. "Teacher Wen, we're acquainted now, aren't we? It's normal for students to give teachers holiday gifts. Don't feel burdened. They're just small things, so please accept them."
Wen Ning gritted his teeth and glanced at the time. It was almost a minute, and since he didn't want to say anything more, he said goodbye and hung up.
On the other end of the line, a young girl in silk pajamas held the receiver. When she heard the busy tone, her pretty, gentle features darkened. She glanced at the phone and twitched her lips with a half-smile. "Come on, why are you pretending?"
She snapped the phone shut. She glanced at the handwriting Wen Ning had left on the desk, and her cold smile instantly softened. "I'm not in a hurry. We have plenty of time, Teacher Wen."
