Chapter 10 Stone Mother
Alka looked at Aunt Marcy who was leading the way in front of him, and the priest who was already walking towards the entrance of the boulder cave.
When this question came to his mind, he began to think about it unconsciously.
I searched through my memories, but couldn't figure out how they knew that.
The vigilance and the little sense of security he had just experienced in this alien world made him start to think of the worst. His pace slowed down and he fell behind his aunt.
"Should we just ask directly? Logically speaking, any normal person should be able to figure it out."
Alka thinks.
Before I could even open my mouth.
They had already arrived inside the boulder.
Walking into the cave, it feels extremely spacious inside.
Alka looked at the surrounding environment. There were obvious signs of artificial excavation here, and the size of the space inside was compared with the size of the boulders outside.
Basically, the middle of the entire boulder was hollowed out, and some patterns were carved on the top of the stone wall, but it could not be seen completely due to torches and other things.
It's a bit rough and feels a bit like a myth.
There was a small hole dug through the top of the boulder, about the size of a head.
The light from outside passed through this hole and filled into the dim stone cave, illuminating the environment inside the cave together with the surrounding torches.
With the dim light, Alka was able to check his surroundings.
About one meter above the ground, grooves were dug out one after another, and each groove was connected in a circle.
They are stacked up layer by layer until they reach a height of about three or four meters.
Alka counted them and found that there were about 9 layers in total, and there was a stone of different shapes placed in the groove of each layer.
The only thing in common is the material of these stones, which seem to be exactly the same, with almost no impurities in appearance.
Only then did Alka see the real stone sculpture.
In the middle of the entire space is a stone sculpture about three meters high. The stone used for the carving is exactly the same as the material of the entire boulder.
The statue is a faceless woman with long hair holding a baby wrapped in a swaddle in her arms, and wearing a circle on her head that looks like a wreath made of wheat ears.
There was a child of a few years old beside her legs, pinching her trouser leg.
Look at the statue in front of you.
Although it is extremely rough and has no detailed facial carvings, the sculptor's hands have carved out a hint of motherly kindness.
It gives people a unique charm.
Aunt Masi stopped about three or four meters away from the statue, and Alka, who was following behind her, also stopped immediately.
The priest came to the statue holding his mother's bones.
First, he lifted the bag of bones slightly.
Then he slowly squatted down, giving people a feeling of seriousness and solemnity, and gently placed the bag of bones he was holding on the ground.
The sound of bones colliding rang out in the silence.
He opened the bag, reached in, took out the bones one by one, and piled them in front of the statue.
Alka and the other man just watched, standing there waiting quietly.
Seeing that his aunt didn't say a word, Alka could only wait quietly .
Only at the end did he take out the skull and place it on top of the pile of bones.
"Don't interrupt me."
The priest's mature, slightly hoarse voice sounded.
He stood up straight, crossed his hands on his shoulders, and lowered his head slightly.
Sunlight streamed in from the cave entrance.
I don’t know if it’s my illusion, but I feel that the sunlight is even brighter now.
The statues and the priests, as well as the mother's bones, were bathed in light.
Such a scene suddenly had a hint of holiness.
At this moment, the priest's voice suddenly sounded.
"The sharp blade pierced through the back, and the blood-stained blade pierced straight out of the chest."
"Disbelief, betrayal, regret."
"Silent darkness."
"Blood connection, the last instinct."
When Alka heard the first sentence, he couldn't help but frown, because it matched the wounds on his mother's body.
The second sentence expresses your emotion at that time?
Betrayed.
The third sentence may be about the feelings after death.
The fourth sentence is completely unknown.
The sound stayed here, and the space returned to silence.
This was the simple information that Alka could obtain in a short period of time.
At this moment, the priest suddenly opened his eyes.
His head turned to stare at Alka who was looking at him.
Alka was sure that he was not mistaken. The priest's eyes had just turned from dark green back into normal pupils.
"Your mother's spirit disappeared last night? Was this the last time you saw her?"
"Her bones were tainted with the curse, but her death had nothing to do with the curse."
At this time, Aunt Masi next to her also turned her head and stared at Alka.
"Little Alka, what did you go through last night?"
Seeing this, Alka's brain started working quickly, he opened his mouth and quickly organized his words.
"I... I don't know if I was too excited or tired from treasure hunting last night, but my mother's corpse stood up and opened her palm to me."
Having said that, Alka took out a silver snake from his arms. There was a blade mark on the snake head of the silver coin.
“Then the silver coin flew from my hand into my mother’s hand, and then she scattered.
I thought it was my hallucination, and I might have thrown the coin in a panic."
Hearing this, the priest took two steps forward and stretched out his hand: "Let me see the silver coin. Where did it come from?"
Alka gave the silver coin to the priest.
He picked up the silver coin, squinted his eyes and looked at it carefully for a while, and even sniffed it carefully.
"It does have a curse on it, but the smell is very faint." He turned his head and stared at Alka and asked, "Where did this silver snake come from?"
After asking again, the priest and Aunt Marcy were both stunned.
The two of them seemed to have figured out the reason.
They asked in unison: "Which treasure did you find first?"
Some time ago, after Alka found a silver coin, he spread the news widely on the island.
The island is so small and everyone has known each other for generations. Unless you are an ignorant person, you basically know something about it.
Seeing that both of them had guessed it, Alka nodded.
"Yes, that silver coin."
After a pause, he continued, "When we found the silver coin, there was a message engraved on the box."
"What?" the priest asked quickly.
"Let me return the silver coins within 7 days, otherwise I will be cursed."
Alka made some deletions and changes, changing the sentences that would lead to immediate death to instead directly encountering the curse.
And he continued: "Seven days after I found it, I fell seriously ill, so I began to look for the treasure seriously and fearfully, wanting to return the silver coin."
Hearing this, Aunt Marcy came up and hugged Alka's head, and couldn't help but complained: "So you got sick because of this curse those two days? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I was afraid you wouldn't believe it. After all, curses are just like stories."
Hearing Alka's words, Aunt Masi also sighed.
The priest threw the silver coin to Alka, who caught it.
"You should thank your mother. Her last spirit dissipated the curse."
After saying that, he looked at Aunt Marcy and nodded to her.
Aunt Marcie made a gesture of praise with her arms folded, nodded, and left the cave.
Before leaving, he said to Alka : "Come to my house for dinner tonight. Sigurd said you are going to follow a merchant ship."
After Aunt Marcy left, the priest stared at Alka.
"Come here little Arka, and pray for peace for your mother."
Hearing this, Alka goes over.
Looking at the corpses piled under the statue, he crossed his hands and lowered his head .
The priest's voice rang in my ears.
“Calm your mind, praise the Stone Mother in your heart, and pray to her to grant your loved ones peace after death.
The Stone Mother's gift to the heart is as solid as a rock."
The priest's voice seemed to have some kind of magic, which easily calmed Alka's heart.
Follow the guidance of His voice.
Pray to the Stone Mother in your heart.
Silently recite in your heart:
"The Stone Mother's gift to the heart is as solid as a rock."
Suddenly, there was no sound in my ears, as if I was immersed in a world of silence.
“Crack.”
A stone suddenly broke into pieces.
Alka opened his eyes sharply.
I don't know where I am anymore.
