Chapter 1: Seeing Deer in the Deep Forest Yu Nansheng04
"Backed off again? Don't take a deep breath! I don't have a cup for you to smash!"
Qi Qi hugged her only mug tightly and walked away from me with lingering fear.
I looked at her helplessly, feeling like my hair was falling out from worry. I rolled my eyes and took the camera from Qi Qi's desk.
"I just came to borrow a camera. I'm going out for a secret interview soon. My camera has a problem and I won't open it. Reporter Shen said I failed at the critical moment." I pouted and looked through the photos in Qi Qi's camera, but all of them were cleared before she could interrupt me.
"You deleted them all! There were so many! Do you know how difficult it was for me to squeeze in? My handsome guy," Qi Qi wailed.
I threw the energy bar in my hand over to him: "Eat some chocolate to replenish your brain cells! We are in the social affairs section, not the entertainment section! What are these?"
Qi Qi stopped crying, came close to me with raised eyebrows, and asked mysteriously: "Nan Sheng, you are only 20 years old, and you are no longer confused by male beauty? Or do you not like men? You are in the same office with your male god every day, don’t you feel your hormones surging?"
I froze for a moment.
Qi Qi has asked me this question more than once, but...
"Being in the same office with him, what surges is not hormones but adrenaline!" After saying that, I walked away with the camera.
"I'm ready."
I originally thought it was just an ordinary interview, as I had experienced it many times in school, so I wasn’t too nervous. It was only when I arrived at the scene that I realized it was the “health products incident” that Shen Yuxi had been vying to be featured in a special feature last time.
We were probably late. The police were arguing with the group of people, and there were spectators all around. I pulled Shen Yuxi's sleeve and was about to say something, but I saw him staring at a corner in a daze.
I followed his gaze.
She was a girl who looked very young. Amid the noisy crowd, she showed no fear . She stood there silently, watching the gang leader arguing with the police.
"You go interview her." Shen Yuxi turned around and said to me, but his eyes swept over the girl.
I nodded subconsciously and walked over with my camera and notebook.
"Hello, I'm a reporter from City Daily. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Are you a staff member here?" I tried to keep my voice as low as possible, hoping not to scare her. Although she tried to hide her panic, I could still feel her body shaking.
She looked up at me.
Those eyes were filled with coldness and indifference, and I was stunned for a moment. It seemed like I had seen such a look somewhere before.
She looked over my shoulder and saw the person standing behind me. I caught the surprise and understanding in her eyes, and took a step forward to continue asking.
"no."
Her voice was a little hoarse and had a completely different tone from mine.
"Then why are you here? Do you know that this health product contains ingredients that are harmful to humans?" I asked sharply.
She frowned, but suddenly felt relieved. She tilted her head, curled the corners of her lips, and just smiled, refusing to say anything.
"Do you know how many people this drug has harmed? Do you understand this drug? You are being irresponsible!"
The girl's eyes suddenly turned red, but she didn't want to cry. Instead, she laughed. Her tone was so harsh: "Hurting people? If I don't earn this money and starve to death, my family will be the ones who suffer."
I was stunned and didn't know what to say.
Soon, they were taken away by the police. I stood there for a long time. Shen Yuxi finished the interview and came back to me. He found that I was a little dazed. He thought it was just a normal daze. He took the camera from me, but found that there was no photo. He said nothing.
The police station was unusually busy.
One group of people were sitting, one group was fighting, and the other group had no expression on their faces. I saw the girl standing in the corner, kicking the stones under her feet with some boredom, and saying something.
I clenched the coffee can in my hand and walked towards her.
"Don't do this again. Although the word 'murder for money' is too harsh to describe you, if I don't tell you today, I'm afraid it will come true sooner or later." I tried to make my tone gentle and not sound so aggressive.
But she didn't seem to think so.
She likes to laugh very much, that kind of sarcastic sneer.
She smiled, brushed off the dust on her body, and looked sideways at me. Her dusty eyes were filled with the hustle and bustle of the city.
I listened to the gang leader arguing fiercely with the police, and heard him shaking the health product bottle, which contained pills that could kill people. I couldn't help but think, if one day my grandfather was deceived and took this medicine and something went wrong...
Thinking of this, I started to get angry again.
"Although you don't understand this drug and are uninformed, it doesn't mean you're wrong! I'm a reporter and I'm interviewing you. Please answer my questions directly." I didn't turn on the recorder, nor did I prepare to take pictures or record.
She shook her head and stood looking at me.
"Ms. Reporter, are you crossing the line with your current behavior?"
"I'm teaching you how to be a good person!"
She said, "You are standing on a high place now, telling me how to be a good person, but how do you know how to be a good person? People are divided into different classes, and you think you are superior to me, so you come to teach me with a preaching heart. Miss reporter, you have never understood a single bit of this world. Your world is full of light, and I have never seen the sun."
"You are at the top and yet you are telling people at the bottom that they shouldn't live like this, Ms. Reporter. You are ridiculous."
I saw Shen Yuxi coming over and frowned slightly when he heard this.
Shen Yuxi handed me his recorder and camera.
" Go interview a few people over there later, try to calm them down a little, and don't be so harsh with your words," he said calmly.
I said "hmm", lowered my head and took it, and out of the corner of my eye I saw the girl next to me staring at Shen Yuxi.
Do they know each other?
Shen Yuxi didn't say another word.
The whole hall was filled with the smell of smoke, which was really choking. I walked out to breathe some fresh air, but when I turned the corner I saw Shen Yuxi also leisurely here.
He leaned his back against the wall, bent his right leg and leaned it against the wall, lowered his head and took a deep breath, holding a cigarette. When he heard the sound, he squinted at me.
I clenched the camera strap in my hand and walked over to hand him the coffee in my bag.
"Tired?" he asked me.
He coughed, threw away the cigarette butt, and reached out to take the coffee.
I shook my head and said, "It's not that I'm tired, but I never knew this society was like this."
"Your sense of justice is completely useless here." This is what the girl left me when she walked past me just now.
"Senior, do you also think..." I bit my lower lip, not knowing how to start. I thought for a moment before saying, "Do you also think this matter is not that serious?"
As the police car drove past us, he moved his sore shoulders.
"If it wasn't serious, I wouldn't be here to report this news."
"Why?"
Why was he not moved at all when the girl just now said that people were cold and indifferent? He didn't refute or speak, and his cold eyes made me think that he agreed with her words.
Shen Yuxi drank the coffee in one breath, walked to the trash can and threw the can away. His off-white windbreaker was rubbed against the wall dust. He shook his hand without answering me and passed by.
"Ms. Reporter, the rest of you can start the interview. The people above said that you should ask questions more subtly." The policeman appeared beside me and made the request with a bit of embarrassment.
I glanced at where Shen Yuxi had just stood and replied with a smile, "Okay, I know."
The rest of the people were very cooperative and answered all the questions. It might also be that the smile on my face was too gentle, so they couldn't be fierce in front of a smiling little girl. In short, my work was completed very quickly.
When I was sweating profusely as I walked through the crowd and saw Shen Yuxi, the little girl was sitting next to him with an extinguished cigarette butt at his feet.
