Chapter 1 My Dreams Are Cheesy Xiang Qianlan02
I remember it was raining that day and I didn’t dare run home directly. If I went home in the rain, my mother would inevitably scold me. I didn’t want her to worry, so I wanted to wait until the rain stopped before leaving.
It was almost dark, and there seemed to be some movement at the factory gate. I was very sensitive and knew something must have happened. There was a noise, so I walked behind the door and saw a boy being pushed against the wall. Three young men, with their backs to me, were kicking and beating him. The boy didn't say a word, staring at them with hatred. I rushed out as fast as I could, not considering how much trouble I would get myself into by meddling in other people's business, and shouted, "What are you doing! Let him go!"
All four of them were startled. The three who beat me turned around and saw that I was the only one there, and gave me an obscene smile. Living in Tongluo Lane, I have seen many scenes like this, so I didn't take them seriously at all.
Just as I was about to fight them, the boy who was bullied earlier suddenly pushed away the person closest to him, rushed over, grabbed my hand and ran out: "Run!"
I was a little confused and reflexively followed him to run away. The sounds of wind and rain whistled past, and we both ran madly, away from the factory, through several wet alleys, and finally ran to a place where there were people. The boy stopped a taxi, stuffed me in, and then jumped in.
"Master, Xitang Road." the boy shouted.
I wanted to open the door and get out, but he pulled me back: "Are you going to die? If you go out now, you will be in danger. I will take you home later."
"Let me down."
"Master, drive first." The boy looked back anxiously, and the car sped away, leaving the three people behind.
After the car drove for a while, I calmed down, looked left and right, pointed ahead and said, "Front, let me off at the first traffic light."
"Hey, you're pretty brave." The boy looked at my school uniform and frowned, "Are you a student of No. 1 Middle School?"
"That's not right. You're so beautiful, there's no way I haven't seen you before. My name is Chai Quan, nicknamed 'Shiba Inu'. I can tell you the detailed profile of every school's beauty. You must be a transfer student, right? What's your name?" He was as noisy as a chirping cicada.
I really didn't want to say a word to him. The car was still moving, so I opened the door and wanted to jump out. "You really don't want to live!" Chai Quan pulled me back angrily and hurriedly asked the driver to stop the car on the side of the road. I stubbornly didn't say anything. As soon as the car stopped, I got out and slammed the door.
I hate boys who keep pestering girls. They often use such clumsy tricks to please girls.
I heard Chai Quan calling me desperately from behind, so I walked faster. Suddenly, a hand grabbed me from behind. I thought it was the three people from the factory chasing me. I twisted his hand and was about to kick him in the stomach again, but I heard Chai Quan yell "Ouch!"
I saw that it was him, let go of his hand, and looked at him in confusion.
"You are so cruel, girl." Chai Quan rubbed his wrist and stuffed a pink umbrella into my hand, "I'll bring you an umbrella."
He just went to the supermarket nearby and bought an umbrella to chase me.
I felt a little complicated. Before I could refuse him, he had already run away, smiling and waving at me: "I have something else to do, bye."
I looked down at this fancy and ugly umbrella. In fact, the rain was much lighter. I just needed to go home and take a shower.
Finally I went home with an umbrella.
The accumulated water submerged the edges of my sneakers, and some of it seeped into the shoes, making them sticky.
There were women walking home from get off work in Tongluo Lane, tiptoeing as if they were afraid that their shoes would get soaked by the dirty water. Only I was like a brave and fearless hero, wading through the muddy water calmly.
Seeing how cautious they were, I got excited and ran quickly, splashing water that fell on their skirts.
"Why are you running? You are blind!"
The harsh curse reached my ears.
My brain was probably broken at the moment, but I actually felt a little happy. When I ran home breathlessly, I found that the door was not closed. My mother was sitting at the door and looking out. Seeing my smiling face, she hurried to pull me. "Come in quickly. I was thinking, what should I do if you don't have an umbrella in such heavy rain?" She took my schoolbag, opened the umbrella and put it on the ground, and turned the wheelchair to the restaurant. "Bring an umbrella when it's sunny and bring dry food when it's full. I have told you so many times that your classmates are kind and willing to lend you an umbrella. Remember to return it to them tomorrow."
"I know, Mom." After changing my shoes, I took my pajamas and went into the bathroom to take a shower. When I came out, I found my mother brushing my sneakers by the door.
I wiped my hair and looked at her quietly.
For so many years, she has been doing these tedious things for me. I know I can't stop her. In her opinion, my mission is to study and only study.
I obediently went to the restaurant to eat, and when I picked up my chopsticks, I heard her worried voice again: "Dry your hair, otherwise you will catch a cold easily."
"Oh, I will." I answered her while concentrating on eating.
My heart was filled with a warm feeling. After dinner, I took the dishes and slipped into the kitchen. Just as I poured the detergent, my mother came in again.
"Leave it alone, I'll do it."
I sighed in my heart, took a few steps back, and complained: "Mom, I can do these things, can you take a rest?"
She smiled slightly: "Not good."
Who says people can’t be cute when they are middle-aged? Under the dim light, my mother’s expression made me feel helpless, so I had to compromise. I stepped out of the kitchen and said with a smile, “I’m going to my room to do my homework.”
I closed the door, smiled crookedly, sat down at the desk, opened the window, and stared straight outside. There was nothing much to do for the homework, I had already finished it.
There was a box on the lower left, with a row of diaries in it. My mother respected me very much and never touched my personal belongings when she cleaned the room. I took out the diary, flipped through it, and threw it into the drawer.
I thought to myself that being a good student is not bad. At least the adults won’t suspect that you are in a premature relationship or doing bad things in school.
"Shiba Inu?" I bit the tip of my pen, thinking about what happened today, and couldn't help laughing out loud.
Outside, night fell. Raindrops from the eaves dripped onto the awning, creating a sense of tranquility. I loosened the rubber band that bound my hair and lay on my back on the bed.
I turned on the radio and heard soft music, adding a sense of loneliness to the dark night.
I looked at the ceiling, lost in complicated thoughts.
I used to think sadness was about separation from life and death, but now I understand that sometimes fear and sadness come from confusion about the future. I took out my phone, which was on silent mode. There were no missed calls, no text messages, nothing.
I almost forgot I had this phone.
In this quiet night, a tear fell from the corner of my eye, so hypocritical. I hate shedding tears for no reason like this, I don't want to cry.
Never.
On Saturday, at my insistence, my mother agreed to let me go to the hospital for a check-up. Along the way, she kept asking me how much it would cost and that she couldn't touch my tuition. Her panic-stricken look made me extremely upset.
If I had a lot of money, would my mother not have to always consider me first? She always does this, loving me so deeply and greatly, and I accept everything she gives me without shame.
At that moment , I really hated myself in my heart .
We spent more than two thousand yuan at the hospital, but I didn't dare tell my mother the actual amount. When I got home, she studied the pile of medicines I bought and told me not to spend money indiscriminately in the future, which made me feel sad.
I'm so selfish. I do all this just to make myself feel at ease.
The second time I saw Qi Beichen was in the woods.
I think all the woods in schools are prepared for couples. The woods are secluded and artistic.
God is my witness, I am not a voyeur, I like to go to the woods because it is cool there. I dare not go to the secret base in the short term, I offended three people last time, I am afraid they will block me there.
The woods in No. 1 Middle School cover a large area, like a park, with stone tables and chairs, sports equipment and everything else. I saw Qi Beichen just after I walked for a while.
I will never forget that face with clear outlines. He seemed to be in trouble. A pretty girl pulled his arm. Qi Beichen looked a little unhappy and pulled her hand away in a gentlemanly manner.
The scattered sunlight fell on his face, and he was slightly angry. The girl pouted and shouted loudly: "Brother Chen, I like you anyway. I have liked you for many years. I don't want you to treat me as your sister. I want you to be my boyfriend. If you have the guts, just agree to me."
I almost laughed out loud.
I wanted to leave, but accidentally stepped on a dead branch, making a "crunch" sound.
Qi Beichen turned around and saw me.
Then, I heard a voice floating into my ears: "Xiaotong, haven't you always wanted to know why I didn't agree to you? I'll tell you the reason today."
Qi Beichen pointed his finger at me and said to the girl, "Because you are not as pretty as her."
His words were like a vicious curse. As soon as he finished speaking, I received the look from that girl as if she wanted to torture me to death. It was so cruel to say that a girl's appearance was not as good as another girl's. I have always known what jealousy is, so when that girl walked straight towards me and raised one hand to slap me, I grabbed her wrist before she did.
"Get the situation straight." I looked into her eyes that were burning with anger, and then said to her, "You were rejected by him because you are incompetent. Don't take it out on me."
It seems that he is a cunning fox and has successfully brought trouble to me.
She broke away from me, shaking her arms and shrieking, "How come I've never seen you before? Did you seduce him?"
I think women are born artists. I listened to the girl in front of me speculating all kinds of ways that I seduced Qi Beichen, which made me laugh and cry. I wanted to say something, but I found that the jealous girl didn't listen to me at all.
So I changed my mind.
I got close to her powdered face and winked at her: "You are right, I seduced him, just because I am prettier than you."
My reaction definitely took them by surprise.
Qi Beichen smiled coolly, and then looked at me as if he was watching a good show.
"Bitch!" Soon, the girl's curse turned into a scream. She grabbed my hair, and I grabbed her wrist, harder . I saw her face wrinkled in pain.
She just raised her leg to kick me, but I pushed her a few meters away. I didn't hit her hard, but if she provokes me again, I won't be polite.
When I was bullied as a child, she would act like a spoiled child in her mother's arms.
She clenched her fists, looking like she wanted to find something to hit. Then, she looked at Qi Beichen. She was too naive. The war was caused by him, so why would he help?
"Brother Chen, she bullied me!" Tears welled up in the girl's eyes.
"Xiaotong, you can't compare to her. Don't come to me. Just go away." Qi Beichen completely shifted the blame with just a few words.
"I won't let you go."
The girl twisted her butt, rubbed her eyes, and ran away angrily, threatening me before leaving.
The summer wind, carrying the subtle fragrance of leaves and wild flowers, drifted into my nostrils. The person opposite me stood lazily in the shade of the tree, as if he had finally solved a problem.
