According to legend, at the end of the Ursa Minor, in the bitter cold of the far north, there is a bright and stable star called the North Star. Its light is always bright and its position is always the same, just like the unchanging heart that loves a person.
That is my father’s favorite star. He said that it symbolizes his love for my mother, his eternal protection and his unfailing loyalty.
So, he named me Pei Jixing.
It didn't mean good luck or good fortune, he just hoped that I could be a person who kept his promises and was steadfast. For many years after he left, I still didn't understand the deep meaning of the name he gave me. She is the northernmost, brightest yet loneliest star in the universe. Her existence is just to protect the star in her eyes, even though he never notices the faint light behind her that blooms just for him.
If you ever get lost, just look up at her, because she will always stay in that lonely starry sky, waiting for you.
But she didn’t know, if the light of the North Star went out one day, would the person she protected shed a tear for her loneliness?
