Volume 8: The Bug House Chapter 1 Light Path
Jiang Mo tilted his head and his eyes paused on Tang Butian's face for a second. The next moment, the grass ball moved - it popped out of the hook and flew towards Tang Butian.
Tang Butian stretched out her hand to grab it, but it was empty. The grass ball flew back just before it touched her fingers.
Jiang Mo blinked, took the grass ball, turned around, and staggered towards the crane.
Tang Butian looked at his empty hands, then raised his head to see Jiang You's back - he didn't look too fat from the back, and against the mist he actually looked like a master.
Takato turned around.
Tang Butian heard him muttering quietly, "When can we get down the mountain?"
"Let's go find them." Tang Butian said.
"It's time to go." Jiang You took a few steps towards her and stopped.
Tang Butian heard him say, "I'll go with you, leader ."
She was stunned, and then she heard Jiang You ask Jiang Mo: "Soy sauce, do you want to go out for a walk?"
Jiang Mo shook the grass ball with his back to him.
Jiang You said, "Okay, I'll go take a look and bring you some local specialties."
Because Zhong Yan and his group disappeared during the transmission, the transmission system on the mountain was temporarily stopped. So Tang Butian and Jiang You rode on the crane, bypassing several mountains, passing through several mountain gates, and went straight up.
Reach the main peak.
Guan Nuo was the first to notice their arrival. He grabbed the three copper coins that were tumbling in the air, put them back in his pocket, and then walked over to them, saying, "Section Chief, Brother Jiang, you are here. Immortal Zhang is locating them. I just tried to calculate it. This is the first time I have encountered such a situation..."
"Then we can calculate it accurately next time." Jiang You said.
Guan Nuo smiled and said, "Well, I will study hard."
Tang Butian looked forward through Guan Nuo's shoulder.
Immortal Zhang stood not far away, holding a jade compass in his hand. He took exquisite steps, his sleeves puffed up and he looked like a celestial being.
With a "Huh!", the needle on the compass stopped moving.
"Found it!" Immortal Zhang waved his hand and turned to Zhong Minghong and Zhuang Zekun who were standing on the side and said, "They are very close to the teleportation point on the opposite side. It seems that some kind of accident happened just after they entered the teleportation point."
"Can you see their current situation?" Zhuang Zekun asked.
Zhang Xianren replied, "No."
Zhuang Zekun said: "Then shall we set off now?"
Zhong Minghong also spoke up: "I'll leave Zhong Yan and the others in your care."
Immortal Zhang nodded and said, "Don't worry."
Tang Butian had already walked in front of Zhang Xianren at this time, and she said, "Let's go." But she saw Zhang Xianren looking behind her.
Jiang You patted the crane's neck, turned around, and saw Zhang Xianren looking at him. The crane chirped, spread its wings, and flew into the sky. Jiang You nodded to Zhang Xianren, then took a few quick steps forward.
"Uncle Zhuang, I'll go too." Guan Nuo asked Zhuang Zekun.
"No, you stay here..."
Before Zhuang Zekun could finish his words, Immortal Zhang interrupted him.
Immortal Zhang said, "Let's go together."
"Okay!" Guan Nuo immediately trotted a few steps and stood beside Zhuang Zekun.
Immortal Zhang waved his sleeves again, and the light on the compass suddenly increased, enveloping everyone in it.
Tang Butian only felt that countless spiritual energy as thin as silk threads were crisscrossing and extending around her, and the misty mountains flashed quickly before her eyes.
There were also some strange sounds, of varying pitches and frequency, that passed through her eardrums quickly and sharply.
Like the whisper of a demon.
At some point, the light dimmed.
A pressure surged towards her from all directions.
There was something in the shadows, watching and waiting for an opportunity to strike. Tang Butian realized that she had once again entered the gap.
She quietly took in everything around her. Cold, slippery, sticky...
Gripping the hilt tightly, a dark light floats.
Bang!
The compass lit up again.
The darkness receded like the tide.
Tang Butian saw a path of light ahead. She turned her head and saw a white arc of light, and in the blurry light, she seemed to be able to make out the outlines of some mountains.
Zhang Xianren said, "Let's go."
He took the lead in setting foot on the path of light.
Zhuang Zekun and Guan Nuo followed.
Tang Butian looked back at Jiang You. Jiang You walked to her side, and then they walked onto the light path one after the other.
It’s a thin layer of light, but it’s soft and very resilient when you step on it.
After walking for a distance, Guan Nuo couldn't help but ask, "What kind of magic is this?"
Immortal Zhang replied: "The Cloud Light Technique can break through all darkness and fog."
"Amazing." Guan Nuo looked around. "How could they disappear? Was there something wrong with the teleportation array? Or were they being watched by someone?"
"It's all possible." Zhang Xianren walked slowly, "But no matter which case it is, the one who can take action here is not an ordinary person, or, not an ordinary demon."
"With Wang Shu and Brother Ren here, they will definitely be able to hold on until we arrive." Zhuang Zekun said.
"Su Wangshu?" Immortal Zhang snorted. "I've seen him a few times. At his age, his cultivation has been stagnant for many years, right?"
Zhuang Zekun retorted, "In the Special Operations Department, cultivation is not the most important thing."
"Then why do you still need us to go down the mountain?" asked Zhang Xianren.
Zhuang Zekun was not stumped by the question. He said in a deep voice, "The Special Operations Department needs powerful monks to join us, but the purpose of the Special Operations Department is not to train powerful monks. We want to build a system that can deal with most metaphysical problems. It can not only provide help to ordinary people, but also fight against the threat of demons. The same is true for the existence of the research institute."
After hearing what Zhuang Zekun said, Zhang Xianren was speechless.
The group quickened their pace and walked forward in silence.
The light path gradually became narrower and was no longer a straight line. After going around many bends, Zhang Xianren suddenly stopped.
"Are we there yet?" Guan Nuo asked.
Immortal Zhang held the compass in front of him. The needle on it kept shaking, and the light path also swayed and twisted, even splitting into several strands and then merging again.
The twisting light shone on Zhang Xianren's face, and his expression was very ugly.
"What happened?" Guan Nuo asked again.
"The positioning has changed." replied Zhang Xianren.
"Maybe they are also trying to find a way back. Let me tell you a story. Maybe this place..."
"It's useless." Before Guan Nuo could finish, Zhang Xianren interrupted him and explained, "It has already escaped from the crack and entered the void. It is no longer something we can pursue."
"Are you locating the 'body' or Zhong Yan?" Jiang You suddenly asked.
"It's the 'body'," Immortal Zhang's eyes fell on Jiang You, "We marked the 'body' before it came down the mountain."
"What should we do then?" Guan Nuo asked.
"Let's go back first and then reorganize our forces to search." Immortal Zhang answered straightforwardly.
"Can the compass still locate the 'body' now?" Tang Butian asked.
"Sure." replied Zhang Xianren.
"I want to continue tracking." Tang Butian said.
Zhang Xianren frowned, and then he heard Jiang You say: "Then continue tracking."
Jiang You walked up to him and said, "Master Zhang, please lend me your compass ."
