Volume 8: In this Hogwarts without the Dark Lord Chapter 506: Location of Horcruxes
Jon and Lily's stories left the principal's office in silence.
Mag's expression changed from shock at first to disbelief, then to disbelief, and finally to numbness.
It wasn't until she heard Lily talk about the fall of Hogwarts in another world, the death of Sprout, the loss of an arm of Flitwick, and the death or injury of several other familiar professors that she became completely sad.
Dumbledore was very emotional after hearing all this, especially when he learned his final outcome from John, he did not seem to show much regret or discouragement.
"As for where Riddle went, I have been investigating this question over the years. I firmly believe that he did not really die on the night when everyone was celebrating, but he seemed to have evaporated from the face of the earth, and there was no trace of him left in the world. Later, when I was looking through some files of the Ministry of Magic, I learned that there was a case of a time converter being lost more than ten years ago. From that time on, I listed Riddle's finding a way to go back to the past as a possibility, but I didn't expect that this would actually be the final answer."
After saying this, Dumbledore looked at John and Lily very seriously.
"I need to apologize for everything you've experienced. It should have been the responsibility of the people of our world to deal with Riddle in this world, but due to our negligence, he endangered more people."
Jon and Lily were both very calm about this.
"Of course this has nothing to do with you, Professor. We cannot shift all the blame for failing to subdue the bad guy onto innocent people. We all know this very well. There is only one person who cannot be forgiven, and that is Voldemort."
Dumbledore apologized for this and gave his own attitude, and then he asked at the same time.
"So the purpose of your visit this time is to eliminate the Horcruxes left by Riddle in this world?"
Jon nodded.
"Yes, in addition to that, he also needs to destroy the time converter that allows him to communicate between the two worlds, but in fact, these two points are very simple."
Everyone's eyes turned to Jon, including Lily. She herself only knew what they needed to do when they came to this world, but she had no idea how to actually do it.
What she learned was that Voldemort had more than one or two Horcruxes, but where these things were hidden now was still unknown.
Jon said this with confidence.
"Regarding the question of how to destroy this time-turner, Mr. Iniesta discussed the biggest possibility with me before coming here. We need to first find the place where Voldemort used it from this world. That is its original origin. Only there will its common personality in the two worlds be completely erased, and we can use any violent means to destroy it."
"As for Voldemort's Horcruxes..."
This is a very simple matter for John, who has already read the original novel and knows that Voldemort in this world no longer exists, which means that the Horcruxes he hid may not have changed at all. However, if he wants to explain why he knows the location of these Horcruxes, he still needs a suitable reason.
"Before Professor Dumbledore in our world fell into a deep sleep, he told me some information he had investigated about Voldemort's Horcruxes. Among them was the specific number of Horcruxes Voldemort had created, and their locations. Of course, these locations were useless before, because Voldemort had taken back all his Horcruxes, but he certainly hasn't done so in this world. So, I think we can verify tonight whether the information about the location of these Horcruxes is still effective."
Jon looked at Dumbledore.
"Because there is a Horcrux hidden in this castle."
McGonagall showed an expression of astonishment that she had shown countless times today, and Dumbledore was also a little surprised.
They all looked at Jon, wanting to get the answer from him.
Jon had no intention of hiding anything.
"On this floor, the wall opposite the tapestry of 'The Troll Beating Barnabas' is the entrance to the Room of Requirement. In one of the rooms used to hide things, there is a diadem left by Ravenclaw, which is one of the Horcruxes."
He described the location and what the Horcrux was so clearly and directly that it didn't feel false at all.
They didn't stop there. Dumbledore and McGonagall followed Jon out of the headmaster's office and came to the tapestry on the same floor. In front of them, Jon opened the door of the Room of Requirement while silently reciting in his mind, and walked into the storage room where all kinds of things were hidden.
Without any surprise, they found the Ravenclaw crown.
This is also enough to confirm that there is nothing wrong with John's information about the Horcruxes.
However, after obtaining the crown, neither John nor Dumbledore intended to destroy it immediately. They both had the common idea of finding all the Horcruxes first and then destroying them all at once. This would be a precaution against some unexpected events that, although very unlikely, could happen.
After confirming the existence of the crown, they did not rush to find the other Horcruxes overnight. It was already past 8 o'clock in the evening. After a whole day's journey, Jon and Lily had not yet had dinner. They both needed a good night's rest.
Just before McGonagall went to help them prepare the room and asked the house-elves in the kitchen to prepare two dinners, Lily looked at Dumbledore and said with a slightly trembling voice.
"I have a request, Professor Dumbledore."
Dumbledore was also looking at her, as if he knew what the request was without Lily even having to say it.
"I don't think this is a request, Lily. This is a right that a mother should have, no matter in which world or at what time."
After saying this, Dumbledore looked back at the portraits on the wall of the headmaster's office.
"If it's not too much trouble, Phineas , help me find Sir Nicholas and ask him to bring Harry to the headmaster's office. Tell him that I have something to do with him alone."
Sirius' great-great-grandfather did not show any dissatisfaction as usual. He slipped away from the photo frame in great spirits.
Dumbledore turned to Lily and said.
"I won't stop you and your son from meeting each other, but as for your origins, I think the fewer people who know about it, the better before the dust settles."
