Volume 8 Final Chapter Chapter 1259 Life Journey, Not Over
Xue Xiaomin and Nan Yi talked about a lot, from NEWME's business to India's tariff policy.
A few years ago, India proposed “Make In India ”. Currently, the term “Atmanirbhar Bharat” can often be heard from some speeches by senior officials in New Delhi. Self-sufficiency has become India’s development strategy. It is not necessary to catch up with this or surpass that at the beginning, but to solve the problems of “having” and “being able to” first.
Regardless of the category of goods, once India's localization capacity increases, it will be immediately reflected in tariffs, increasing tariffs on imported goods and bringing the goods into the scope of mandatory BIS certification of the Bureau of Standards.
India's current textile exports are rising steadily, accounting for more than 12% of the country's export revenue. The textile industry also supports a large number of people. The textile category to which clothing belongs is the focus of attention. It is impossible to bring clothes from abroad to India to sell without being made difficult.
All of NEWME's clothes are imported from China, with an average cost 18% higher than local costs. If NEWME had not targeted mid- to high-end customer groups from the beginning and had higher brand and platform added value, it would have been defeated by its competitors long ago.
Despite this, NEWME's situation is not optimistic. As India's e-commerce becomes more and more developed and its competitors increase further, NEWME's competitiveness is constantly being weakened. It either has to wait to be eliminated or take the path of product localization.
There is no solution to this problem. Even if there were no higher customs clearance costs and freight rates, the overall cost growth of domestic clothing has almost wiped out the workmanship, yield rate and other issues of Indian local clothing. On one hand, costs are rising, and on the other hand, quality is constantly improving. Sooner or later, the critical point will be reached.
Nan Yi knew that Xue Xiaomin wanted to take the localization route, but he couldn't think of any good ideas, so he could only agree.
After talking about NEWME, the two talked about the Iranian platform Cloran.
Compared with India, the situation in Iran is much simpler. Although the tariffs are heavier, the industry and agriculture are underdeveloped and most materials are imported, so there is not much competition between imports and domestic products.
Moreover, Iran's network is a two-way blocked LAN . People inside are not allowed to see outside, and people outside are not allowed to see inside. No matter how powerful the international giants are, it has nothing to do with Iran anyway. This creates a good fertile environment for the birth of local giants.
In addition, due to strict foreign exchange controls, it is difficult to transfer money earned in Iran, which makes most investors who are coveting the population dividend of more than 80 million hesitate to move forward, which means that there will not be too fierce competition.
Precisely because Iran has these two advantages, Madein attaches great importance to Cloran, provides a lot of preferential support, and promotes its rapid development.
As for how to transfer the money earned, this is not a problem for Cloran. Its idle funds will be borrowed by a mining trading company to offset part of the payment for purchasing iron, copper, zinc, molybdenum, antimony and other ores from Iranian mining.
Iran is not stupid. It knows that the US dollar is more useful than its own rial. It will just accept that part of the purchase of ore will be in rial. It would be strange if the majority of the sales were not in US dollars.
What Xue Xiaomin wanted to talk about was the expansion of the warehouse in Tehran and the increased investment in artificial intelligence, which would speed up logistics while controlling the growth of the number of employees and leaving more work to machines, such as basic layout and product image design, and the simpler parts of writing code.
Nan Yi did not express any objection, but just asked Xue Xiaomin to pay more attention to the actions of the United States and not to be affected.
Xue Xiaomin was there in the morning, and Nan Ruojin and Nan Zeyang flew over in the afternoon.
The three of them went to the Tulahali Forest where the air was relatively fresh, and sat on a huge rock to chat about everything, including the universe, Mars, career, and marriage.
Nan Yi is still kind and amiable, without the authority of an elder. He gets along with his children and grandchildren as friends.
After the two left, Nan Yi put his energy back into Wuzhi Trust's Indian investment strategy, dealing with one thing after another and slowly implementing his investment intentions. During this time, he did not forget to worry about the football game and naturally had to do what he promised to Wang Jiansen.
On April 13, Nan Yi arrived in Bangkok and spent the Senior Citizens' Day, Family Day and Songkran Festival with his two cotton-padded jackets. He also showed concern for the development of the Tainan Group in Thailand.
After Nan Ruoqi flew away, he did not rush to leave Bangkok. On the fourth night, he came to the food stalls in Chinatown, walked through several sparsely spaced stalls, and came to a fried noodle stall with a sign at the stall that read San'er Fried Noodles.
Business was good, with only two or three empty seats left. Men San'er was stirring the wok in front of the stove, with beads of sweat on his forehead. His wife was working as a waitress, busy clearing the tables and serving food to new customers. His daughter Ding Sitian was working as a waitress, cutting side dishes on the chopping board with a knife.
After watching for a while, Nan Yi walked to the stove and said to Men San'er, "Happy New Year."
Men Saner looked up at Nan Yi and said, "Come on, find a seat and sit down. I'll come over to greet you when I'm done."
"No hurry, take your time."
Nan Yi found an empty seat and sat down. After a while, Ding Sitian brought him a drink.
"Uncle Nan, please drink some water."
"Does your father know that we are in contact?" Nan Yi took the cup and asked.
"I just found out about this a while ago."
"Does he agree to let you study in the United States?"
Ding Si sweetly nodded.
Nan Yi also nodded, and the two of them sat in silence.
More than a quarter of an hour passed before Men Saner came over with a bottle of cold beer in his hand. He sat down next to Nan Yi and poured two glasses of beer silently. He pushed one to Nan Yi and raised his own glass, "Thank you for taking care of me all these years."
Nan Yi picked up his wine glass and clinked it with Men San'er's. "No need to say polite words, it's all in the wine."
He raised his head, drank a glass of wine, and the strangeness was somewhat dispelled.
But it seemed like the two of them had nothing to talk about.
Men Saner took out a pack of Guangxi and handed one to Nan Yi. Nan Yi took it and put it in his mouth without trying to stop Men Saner from lighting it for him.
The two smoked in silence, still without speaking.
After a long time, the guests around them came and went, and changed several groups, but the two remained silent.
It was not until the night deepened that Nan Yi spoke up, "Many years have passed. Just pretend that what happened back then never happened. Go back to the capital more often."
"good."
"I'm leaving."
"Goodbye, I won't see you off."
Nan Yi left and went back to do what he was supposed to do.
April 16, 2019, was just an ordinary day for him. The extraordinary thing was that he felt relieved. Life would go on, and it was hard to say whether the rest of his life would be long or short. He only knew that he had to keep going forward as long as the day was not over.
