Volume 5: The Burning Golden Flame Chapter 338 Cedric Diggory

Jon searched for a while in this abandoned tribe of centaurs, trying to find more useful information.
However, just like the area with the dead spiders, it looks like something happened a long time ago. Even if there was some information left at the beginning, nothing has been found until now.
But at least Jon didn't see any dead centaurs here, which is a good thing in a sense.
After all, the centaurs are much smarter than those Acromantulas. If Voldemort intends to send people to wipe them out, they will definitely know that even if all the centaurs in the world join in, they will not be able to resist.
Therefore, it is unlikely that the centaurs were unscathed, but it is also estimated that they were not slaughtered outright.
Hoss had no idea where the centaurs had fled to, and Jon felt that there was no need to waste time looking for them. Even if some of the centaurs were still hiding in the Forbidden Forest and he could contact them, it would not be of much help to them.
"And one last one, Maurice. Hagrid told me it's a dog with a peculiar tail. Can you find it?"
Jon asked Hoss about the last name Hagrid left him, but Hoss stared at him and finally just shook his head.
It didn't look like it knew the dog, named Maurice.
Jon didn't worry too much about it. Being able to achieve what he had now was already far beyond his previous expectations. Even if there was no news about Maurice in the end, he felt that the information he had obtained now would be enough for Hagrid to digest for a while.
According to John's calculations, today was just right. He had basically completed Hagrid's request. In the next period of time, he would start to focus on the competition.
However, Jon was not in a hurry to find a way to deal with those fire dragons tonight. Although Hoss was a little lustful, having him around could help Jon save himself a lot of trouble.
At least he didn't have to worry about rushing through the forbidden forest to find the fire dragons.
The night gradually enveloped the entire Forbidden Forest. Jon did not move to other places, but chose to build a bonfire in the center of the abandoned tribe. He then wandered in the nearby woods for a while and caught a few wild rabbits.
I don't know how Voldemort controlled and managed the Forbidden Forest after taking control of Hogwarts Castle, but apart from the actions against the Acromantulas and the Centaurs, the ecology of the entire Forbidden Forest seems to have returned to nature. Both the magical animals and ordinary animals here seem to have never seen humans. When Jon was catching rabbits, these stupid rabbits only reacted belatedly and kicked their legs to resist until he grabbed their ears.
When Hoss saw that he had caught the prey, a look of regret flashed in his eyes. When Jon was dealing with the rabbit, he happened to meet his gaze.
At that moment, he could actually guess what this lecherous ass was thinking.
"You're sad that I didn't catch a doe or something so I could give you a treat before I eat you?"
Hoss's eyes were shining and he kept nodding like a chick pecking at rice, as if he thought Jon could guess what he was thinking and probably wouldn't mind having a little doe as a snack later.
But the next second, Jon slapped it on its lustful face.
"You are really perverted. When I get back I will ask Hagrid whether you were raised like this by him since you were a child or you learned bad things after you left him. You never forget to find the little doe no matter what you do."
Hoss didn't feel embarrassed after being scolded by Jon. He just shook his mouth nonchalantly, as if he wanted to argue with Jon for a few more words. This is the nature of animals.
Jon was too lazy to pay attention to it, so he put the cooked rabbit on the fire and skillfully prepared tonight's dinner.
When they were on the Hogwarts, Jon and his students often made barbecues on the deck of the ship. Although his skills were not amazing, they were still pretty good.
At least after he tore a rabbit leg for Hoss (as a Pegasus, it certainly eats meat), it seemed quite satisfied with Jon's craftsmanship.
As the night deepened, Jon was making some small plans for tomorrow's actions by the campfire.
He was not at all complacent or careless about the fire dragon, and he also didn't quite believe that the Beauxbatons warrior named .
As one of the two people chosen to participate in this game on behalf of Voldemort, John actually made a test early this morning.
He knocked Draco down and threw him out of the specified range of the game in front of Voldemort. He didn't intend to anger the man. In fact, John just wanted to see whether Voldemort expected these two people to win the final victory of the game.
And from his calm reaction when Draco was eliminated, John could not tell what expectations he had for the eldest son of the Malfoy family.
As for Emil, apart from anything else, he is indeed very ruthless at such a young age. He actually used Draco as a shield to block the spell right in front of Draco's father. This is not something that an ordinary student who has not yet graduated can do. Judging from his behavior, Voldemort should have higher hopes for him.
Therefore, Jon actually had some ideas about looking for Emil in the Forbidden Forest. After all, there was no restriction in the rules of the game that prohibited them from attacking each other and snatching the Golden Snitch that the other party had already obtained. He really wanted to see what kind of skills this Emil had.
The gains and losses of a game are nothing. Getting accurate information about the opponent will bring the greatest benefit to all subsequent plans.
Jon thought so and lay on the blanket created by Transfiguration with a weed in his mouth. After dinner, Hoss ran out to have fun. Jon did not restrain it, but warned it to come back before dawn tomorrow. Also, if it ran out and rolled on the grass with some strange animals, it must clean itself up before coming back, otherwise he would put it on the campfire for disinfection.
Just as Jon was looking at the starry sky which was mostly blocked by the branches and leaves of the trees, he suddenly felt a strange feeling in his heart!
This feeling was very strange, just like some kind of premonition. Then Jon raised the wand in his hand without hesitation and pointed the tip of the wand at a bush behind him!
" Everyone is petrified!"
Without any hesitation, the dazzling petrification spell shot out from his wand, and the next moment, it pierced through the dense grass!
Jon could clearly hear a panicked commotion, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps.
The petrification spell did not hit, and the man tried to escape!
He frowned and stood up from the campfire. He did not take the risk to chase after him immediately. If Hoss was still by his side, he might have chased after him without hesitation. But now, even if he used the ring to fly, it was not easy to catch up with someone in such a densely wooded forest and dark environment.
What's more, no one knows whether this is a trap or not. He has not forgotten that this forbidden forest can be said to be Voldemort's home ground. If he wants to do some tricks in it, it will definitely not be difficult.
Jon walked towards the bush that was pierced by his petrification spell and soon found a piece of rag among the broken leaves.
This was obviously left by the previous person. John's petrification spell did not hit his body directly, but it tore his robe. However, just from this piece of cloth, Jon could not make out anything.
What he could be sure of was that the Emile who was clearly hostile to him in the forbidden forest was definitely not wearing a robe of this color and style, and it was definitely not Diane's. It was more likely that its owner was some other outsider who was not participating in the Triwizard Tournament.
So where could this outsider come from?
Jon walked back to the fire and stared at the piece of cloth, the flickering light of the fire shining on his face.
At daybreak, Cedric, looking a little haggard, sat up from the four-poster bed.
Most of his roommates were already dressed and heading to the auditorium for breakfast, waiting for Cedric.
"You look very unwell, Cedric. Do you want us to bring you breakfast and ask for leave from the professor?"
Cedric's condition did make people feel a little bad. He stared blankly at the scene beside the bed for a while, then nodded to the classmate who talked to him.
"Thank you, Armand. Please ask the professor for half a day off for me. Just tell him that I'm not feeling well."
He is very popular among his classmates, and everyone in his dormitory is very concerned about his health.
"Then you should rest well, we will explain everything to the professor."
After watching them leave the dormitory and being the only one left in the room, Cedric lay back down on the bed. He did not immediately make up for his sleep, but instead stared blankly with a dazed look in his eyes.
This was one of the reasons why he was in such a bad state. He slept intermittently and woke up from his dreams from time to time.
Even now, he was extremely exhausted, but still not sleepy. His brain was still in a state of concentration or emptiness, and he was thinking about some outrageous things.
Not long after, the roommate named Armand came back to bring him breakfast. After Cedric finished a sandwich with bacon and ham, he lay back on the bed.
Outside the dormitory, the sun was gradually rising. He changed his position on the bed, looking at the sunlight shining into the dormitory, thinking silently in his heart that the three people participating in the Triwizard Tournament in the Forbidden Forest must have already started their actions for the new day.
The news that Draco was eliminated on the first day of the competition had already spread to all students in Hogwarts Castle by dinner yesterday.
However, after learning the whole process, not many people mocked Draco. It was not because the eldest son of the Malfoy family was very popular in the school, but because the half-blood students did not dare to talk about the pure-blood students in private. The pure-blood students, because Lucius was in the school to maintain law and order, only expressed a few words of dissatisfaction and did not say anything too extreme.
They didn't say anything to Draco, but when they scolded John, these students didn't care at all.
What a villain who attacked from behind, what he was indeed a little dark wizard student taught by the dark wizard Dumbledore, what only such a lowly identity could make him do such a lowly thing, anyway, just do whatever you can to smear and insult him.
Regardless of whether they are pure-blood students or half-blood students, the trend is this. They have developed their own sense of belonging under the Hogwarts education led by Voldemort, and such a sense of belonging will certainly not lean towards Dumbledore and others.
However, Cedric has a different opinion on these things from others. He has been trying his best to persuade the students around him not to insult others indiscriminately behind their backs. But no matter how popular he is among others, no one will listen to his advice at this time. Instead, many people persuaded him not to think about these big principles at this time. The enemy has already come to their doorstep, so what can't they say?
But Cedric had something in his heart that he kept hesitating to say.
Who are their enemies and where is their home?
Fortunately, he still had some sense in his heart and knew that if he said something, it would not only affect him, but also his father who worked in the Ministry of Magic would be implicated.
Just as he was lying on his bed in the dormitory thinking, there was a knock on the door, followed by a gentle female voice.
"Mr. Diggory, may I come in?"
Hearing that familiar voice, Cedric felt a little flustered, but he quickly suppressed the panic and responded in a slightly weak voice.
"Come in."
An older witch with a tall, thin figure and a concerned expression on her face entered the room.
Adrianna Greengrass, the current head of the pure-blood family, House Greengrass, is also the dean of the Half-Blood Academy at Hogwarts Castle and professor of Transfiguration.
Although she is a pure-blood, she has always had a very good reputation among mixed-blood students. She has never shown a clear difference in the treatment of pure-blood and mixed-blood students. For this reason, many pure-blood professors and students have criticized her behind her back.
After entering the dormitory, the witch walked straight to Cedric.
"I received the reason for Armand's request for leave. He said you seem to have a cold and are not feeling well?"
"Thank you for coming all the way here, Professor. I felt a little dizzy when I woke up this morning, probably because of the cold wind after Quidditch training yesterday."
"Your father and I are old friends. He asked me to take good care of you in school. You have always been his pride. So when you were sick, of course I had to come and see you. How do you feel now? Do you want me to take you to the school hospital for a checkup?"
