Volume 5: The Burning Golden Flame Chapter 317: The Burrow No. 3
Green flames enveloped Jon, and when he felt his feet suspended in the air, they touched solid ground again the next second.
Before he could see the scene clearly, a noisy sound reached his ears.
"Hurry up Charlie! Put down the things in the kitchen first, the guests are here!"
"Put the things here! Fred! Don't open your boxes. I don't want to see those weird things and get mad!"
"Wipe your hands, Molly. They're still covered in mashed potatoes."
"Oh, sorry, I got a little too excited."
"Hey, why do I feel like mom is welcoming her real biological son."
The green flames around him dissipated, and Jon finally saw the full picture of the space he was in.
This is a fairly large living room, but the furnishings around it look a bit old.
The wooden floor full of cracks and scratches, the chest of drawers piled with all kinds of needlework, fabrics and prints, the shabby chandelier hanging from the ceiling by a hemp rope, the long table pulled to the center of the living room and covered with a faded floral tablecloth...
The first impression of this place is obviously shabby, but it is also filled with the atmosphere of a tight family life.
Standing directly in front of Jon was a middle-aged couple.
The man had very sparse red hair and a bald spot. He was tall and thin, wore glasses, and wore a dark brown robe.
The woman also had red hair. She was short and plump. She was wearing an apron with some mashed potatoes on it and had a warm smile on her face.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley."
Jon greeted them politely.
Ron's mother Molly did not respond first, but pulled Jon over and pulled him out of the fireplace. Then, Hermione and Gabrielle suddenly appeared where Jon had just stood, preventing the two from colliding with each other.
"Oh, good boy, hello. When Ron came back from Christmas in his first year, he told me that he had made a friend like you. That summer I asked him to invite you to our house, but later I heard that Dumbledore had assigned you a special task."
She showed great enthusiasm, not only towards Jon, but also towards Hermione and Gabrielle later.
"And you, Hermione , you haven't forgotten me yet, have you? We met in the Hogwarts carriage last September. You were holding a copy of The Standard Book of Spells: Level 4 to show us the way. Gabrielle, I know you too. When Ginny was at home on vacation, she talked to me about you a lot. She always said she wanted to invite you to be her guest."
Both Hermione and Gabrielle looked somewhat flattered.
Molly held their hands and they sat down on the sofa, while Ron's father Arthur helped Jon take his suitcase.
"This isn't the first time we've met, Jon." He smiled and winked at Jon, "Last year, I was in the crowd when Dumbledore handed all the students at Hogwarts over to you."
Jon brushed off some of the ash that had stained his robes.
"I remember you too, Mr. Weasley. You were right behind Professor Lupin."
"Ha, yes. To be honest, when I saw Dumbledore placing such a burden on you, I didn't agree with it. After all, no matter how talented you are, you are still only thirteen years old. I thought you might not be able to bear such a responsibility on you, but the facts are enough to prove that I was overthinking."
"It's just that I'm a little luckier."
"The things you do are not something you can do by luck."
Arthur patted him on the shoulder and introduced him to the last Weasley member that Jon had not yet met.
"This is my second son, Charlie. He is also working in the Order of the Phoenix now."
Charlie has a broad face that shows that of a nice gentleman. His face is covered with freckles and his skin is somewhat bronze. His arms are obviously muscular and you can tell at a glance that he is very strong.
When he saw Jon, a smile appeared on his face and he stretched out his hand.
"Hello, Jon."
Jon also reached out his hand and shook it.
"Nice to meet you."
Including Bill who finally walked out of the fireplace, the entire Weasley family is here.
Well...it was the Weasley family after Percy was expelled. Apparently, no one in the Weasley family wanted to mention anything about Percy. The third son of their family had completely betrayed Dumbledore. Voldemort used his identity to do a lot of things, including slander against John and the frame-up of Dumbledore's character. Judging from public reports, he was also very cooperative and didn't seem to be forced at all.
Even at school , if anyone saw the news about Percy in the newspaper, they would avoid Ron and the others to prevent it from affecting their mood.
Jon and the others had obviously arrived a little early, and dinner was not ready yet. Hearing the noise in front of the fireplace, Molly hurried out from the kitchen to greet them without even having time to take off her apron.
After asking George and the others to entertain Jon and Hermione, Molly hurried back to the kitchen. Arthur and Charlie obviously had something to do, and they were tidying up the living room so that it would be spacious enough for dinner later.
As soon as they got home, Ginny excitedly grabbed Gabrielle and went to her room, as if she was eager to show her something. The Weasley twins greeted Jon and Hermione, and also hid in their rooms mysteriously with their suitcases. After they came back from Durmstrang, they started tinkering with some strange things, as if they got some inspiration from that school famous for dark magic.
Ron took Jon and Hermione to visit Weasley's temporary home in France.
"Actually, this place is a complete replica of our hometown in England, because mom said that this would make everyone get used to it. But you know, our family was not very wealthy before, and moving twice was a big expense. But Professor Dumbledore gives mom, dad, Bill and Charlie a lot of salary every year. Although dad has never wanted to accept the money, he thinks that being in the Order of the Phoenix is to help Dumbledore, not a job. But Dumbledore still persuaded him to accept the payment."
Ron first took them out and took a walk around the yard outside.
This is a wasteland next to a Muggle town not far from Lyon. Almost no one comes here, and the surrounding area has obviously just been cultivated. There are many flowers planted next to the fence, and there is a vegetable patch behind the house.
Hermione asked in confusion as she stared at the three-story building named The Burrow No. 3 by the Weasley family.
“Why is this house built crookedly?”
Ron shrugged.
"Like I told you, it was built exactly like my old house. The Burrow we lived in at first looked like this. To be honest, such a residence was very shameful among the British wizards in the past, because our family was really not rich. Although my father worked in the Ministry of Magic, he hardly got much money a month, not to mention that he had to support so many people in our family. I was still young at that time, but I have a deep impression of it."
He said this without any reservation, as if he didn't mind telling Jon and the others about his family's poverty.
