Volume 4: White Devil Chapter 283 SHP
"You always think of some little tricks on how to make women more fascinated by you." While the host was introducing the many dogs frolicking in the distant sports field to more than 20 women under the recording of the TV camera, Delia slowly approached Tommy, who seemed to have nothing to do with what was happening in front of him, like an outsider, looking straight ahead, with a decent smile on her face, and spoke softly.
She had known this jerk since he was studying at Stanford, but after so much time, she still felt that Tommy's image in front of her was blurry. Even though he was close to her, she couldn't really see the blond young man clearly.
Tommy had called Susan and asked how many women were willing to come forward after being hurt. He then carefully wrote down the number. After a while, he told Susan that he was going to jointly launch a foundation with other people.
Then he would let Susan and her bring the girls to the Marshall Country Club to relax. He had asked Otilia to contact the best psychologist on behalf of the foundation and develop a set of auxiliary therapies that could cure the panic and anxiety of the female victims.
Hearing Delia's words, Tommy looked at the dogs in the distance who were being guided by their trainers and approaching the ladies in a warm and clingy manner and said, "My mother once said that God walked the world not to cheer for his people, but to redeem them."
After listening to Tommy's words, Delia was silent for a moment, then sighed softly: "Your mother must regret teaching you these. She hoped to use these words to influence you to become a kind lamb, instead of using these words your mother said to incite other people's charlatans."
The host of today's event at the Marshall Country Club squatted down, stroking a gray-white hound with one hand and holding the microphone with the other hand to introduce the dogs to the surprised and delighted women: "Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce these dogs in front of you. They are all athletes from the Australian greyhound competition. No, they are retired athletes. Please feel free to reach out and say hello to them. Don't worry, each of them has been carefully taught by the trainer and is docile, smart and well-behaved."
"I have learned about the unfortunate experiences of all of you ladies from Ms. Susan Curtis's introduction. I deeply sympathize with you and I admire your courage to speak out about your painful experiences in public."
"But please rest assured, today we are not asking you ladies to recall your embarrassing and tragic past. Instead, top psychology experts from Stanford University, University of Southern California and other universities in the United States have been invited by the SheHerdPower Foundation to prepare a supplementary therapy called Human-Pet Bidirectional Redemption Therapy for you ladies. Today is a treatment experience, and the purpose is to help you ladies get out of the haze as soon as possible."
"Every dog you are touching right now is from Australia. They were rescued by the Australian Animal Protection Association, the California branch of the American Animal Protection Association, and the SheHerdPower Foundation after going through untold hardships and overcoming numerous obstacles. You may not know why I use the word rescue. I need to explain this. In fact, every dog present at this moment is a greyhound, which is a very fast dog. In Australia, they are bred for various competitions, such as rabbit hunting or racing. Each of them has won countless prizes and medals for its previous owners. The owners will also treat it as a treasure and prepare expensive dog food, various maintenance medicines, exclusive veterinarians and even dentists for it, until it is injured in the competition. In Australia, if a dog is injured and can no longer bring honor to its owner, it may not even live until the audience leaves. It may just go back to the backstage and be smashed in the head by the owner with a wooden stick, ending its life."
After hearing the host's last words, the women present could not help but withdraw their hands from petting the dogs and exclaimed. They observed , fearing that if they petted them a little too hard or had too fierce a look on their faces, they would scare them.
"Maybe some ladies will say that dogs can be treated if they are injured. That's true, but in the eyes of Australians, even if you spend a lot of money to treat its injuries, it won't restore it to its previous peak level. So why not buy a new hound? It's just a tool to make money anyway, and it's in the interests of those people to discard it after use. The normal lifespan of a greyhound is 14 years, but these dogs in front of us are only three years old at the oldest and only one year and nine months old at the youngest. Because of long-term use of hormone drugs, their lifespan is only about eight years old, which is roughly equivalent to humans dying at the age of 40. The reason why they live six years less than their peers is so cruel, because they are better than their peers."
"It's not easy to save these dogs. SheHerdPower Foundation paid the butchers in Australia a higher price than a new racing dog to ask them to put down their knives and hand the dogs over to volunteers. Then they arranged for veterinarians to treat their injuries and then shipped them to the United States. We hired dog trainers to teach them how to communicate with humans normally. They are very smart. Each one can understand at least 30 words now, but when we rescued them, they only understood the word Go."
"I think you ladies should have a general understanding of this complementary therapy. Yes, you can adopt a dog and take care of it that has been hurt, or vice versa, let it heal you who have been hurt."
"SheHerdPower Foundation promises that all living expenses of dogs, including dog food, regular veterinary checkups and even chewing gum, will be paid by the foundation. You don't need to prepare anything, just choose a dog and let it accompany you, and then you will go through a warm and not lonely psychological treatment journey together."
"Finally, please allow me to introduce to you SheHerdPower Foundation, which provides legal assistance to save these dogs. SHP is a public welfare charity foundation that focuses on women and is founded by Ms. Susan Curtis, CEO of Pathfinder Agency, Ms. Condoleezza Rice, Professor of Political Science at Stanford University, Ms. Otilia Farrell, a well-known legal expert and female social activist, and Ms. Tipper Gore, a well-known Washington news photographer. It is committed to promoting the elimination of gender discrimination and violence in society, encouraging and helping injured women to step out of the shadows, and helping them gain the dignity and fairness they deserve in life."
"All funds for the human-pet bidirectional assisted therapy that everyone participated in this time were donated to the SHP Foundation by Mr. Tommy Hawke, a well-known Stanford University alumnus, Mr. Stephen Bean, a well-known California investor, Mr. Ted Turner, founder of Turner Television Network, and Mr. Steve Ross, president of Warner Pictures."
In front of the camera, the women squatted down and hugged the dogs, smiling brightly in the sunshine.
Delia smiled and said to Tommy, "I can't believe that a man like Turner would donate money to injured dogs in Australia. How did you convince him? From what I understand, he would rather spend money to rescue American bison."
"I didn't convince him. I just told him that Murdoch owns more than a dozen popular greyhound newspapers in Australia, and that Murdoch himself likes to bet on greyhounds. He once raised 17 greyhounds. It's a pity that we didn't save any of them, but it's not a complete loss. Animal protection volunteers secretly filmed one of Murdoch's injured hounds being injected to death. Although it wasn't Murdoch who did it himself, but... who the hell cares who the executor is, it's enough that the dog is his." Tommy said with a smile.
Delia nodded in understanding. "So Turner agreed to pay the money. Yes, he couldn't calm down when he heard about Murdoch."
"Not only did he take out the money, Mr. Turner also plans to premiere the show on his TV network. The broadcast schedule is as follows: Stalin killing people for ten minutes, and then Murdoch killing dogs for another ten minutes." Tommy recalled the expression on Old Turner's face after hearing what he said, and he was so excited that he could have a heart attack at any time, and he said:
"The last ten minutes of the show show how we Americans went through so much hardship, just like landing on Omaha Beach, to save dogs, women and pets from the dire situation in Australia. In psychology, these are creatures that easily inspire men to have a strong desire to conquer and sympathize with them. Now, Murdoch has hurt both of these groups in America."
While the ladies were playing with the dogs and bonding, Susan also walked over to Tommy and observed him with a worried look in her eyes: "Are you okay?"
"Of course, how could you think I was in such a bad condition?" Tommy asked with a smile.
Susan stood side by side with him, looking at the bright sunny scenery in the distance: "I have been thinking for a long time and came up with a question, Tommy."
"Susie's treatment of you doesn't seem to be of much use. Susan, your political science professor didn't teach you to stop engaging in ineffective strategic thinking that is not appropriate for the level you are at," Tommy responded somewhat speechlessly.
He didn't like the feeling of being cared about by others, especially by people who were not as good as himself. He could understand that Susan's concern was absolutely sincere, but this kind of concern was an invalid emotion to him, because he knew that the other party must have discovered some major flaw and wanted to remind him.
"Even if you really succeed, the three major TV networks and Turner, Steve Ross will be more qualified than you to receive Fox assets. If you compete with them for the fruits of victory, you will be the second Murdoch in their eyes. They will target you. If you give in, you will lose more than you gain after planning for so long. You will not be willing to accept it." Susan ignored Tommy's speechless expression and said seriously: "I only learned the first thing in political science. The higher the angle you stand, the greedier you will become. Do you want to keep biting like this?"
Tommy rolled his eyes, took out his wallet, counted out a few bills and handed them to Susan: "You are the first and only woman around me who can make me take out my wallet to pay, Susan, don't refuse, take it, go to Susie to add a few sessions."
"I am being too sentimental again, am I not?" Susan saw Tommy's actions and no longer felt worried. She took the money and put it in her pocket with a smile. She didn't care whether Tommy hated her attitude or not. She wanted to see this scene more, that is, her young godfather would always think one step ahead of her. He had already figured out the problem she had been thinking about for a long time.
"Is there no one you can trust to help you share some...of your work?" Delia saw Tommy handing Susan money and teasing her kindness, and she couldn't help but ask Tommy.
The smarter and harder working people are around this bastard , the more they will realize that Tommy is actually a bastard who has a serious lack of trust in his friends, such as Jason, Susan, and Delia.
Often they wanted to tell Tommy that he could trust them, that they could help share his burden, and that no matter what he was going to do, this bastard would turn a deaf ear to these words and would never say another word. He just needed him to do as he arranged. As for discovering possible problems and telling him how to prevent them, he would tell them like handing Susan money to treat her brain, that was not your concern.
On the contrary, Sofia, Otilia and Martin have a completely different image of Tommy in their eyes. In their eyes, Tommy Hawke is definitely the most trusting person in America and is always willing to help others. Many times when they have shortcomings in thinking about a problem, Tommy will take the initiative to speak up and remind them like a best friend, and he will not ridicule them but only encourage them.
Just look at the two women, Sofia and Otilia, to know how terrible Tommy's brainwashing is. One of them works hard to help Tommy manage his wallet, while the other works hard to help Tommy mend his shiny coat.
"It's not that we don't have it, it's that you're not worthy of it." Tommy lowered his head and lit a cigarette, then exhaled and looked at Delia:
"Think about it, the most basic problem is, you are women, you have been dealing with those victims for so long, but you even need me, who you think is an absolute male chauvinist, to come up with the idea of setting up a foundation to bring these victims together and help them get out of the haze of life. Why do you still think you can share my work?"
