Volume 4: White Devil Chapter 212: As Close as Father and Son
Otilia sat up lazily from the bed and found that Tommy, who had gotten up before her, had considerately turned off the alarm clock again. At the same time, he opened the heavy curtains a little to allow the sunlight to quietly wake her up at the end of the early morning.
The sky outside was as clear as a sapphire. She put on her pajamas and walked to the quaint window, opening the curtains completely. She saw Tommy with his sleeves rolled up, standing side by side with Ashley's father Hull, arguing with their father with serious faces. What was interesting was that her father Julian and Tommy's brother Tony were standing behind Father Colin. The situation was obviously divided into two factions.
Because she was curious about what they were arguing about, Ottilia put on a heavy coat and walked to the balcony of the bedroom. When she came out, she found that she was not the only one who liked to watch the fun. On the balcony of each bedroom, there was a gossipy woman who was holding the railing and looking at the men outside.
However, the distance was a bit far, and she couldn't hear what they were arguing from the balcony, but Otilia soon found out the cause and effect of the story from her mother and Ashley.
Yesterday, the three old guys went to the bar to drink. I don’t know what happened, but in the end, with the help of their father Julian, they helped Colin’s father negotiate a big deal.
But Tommy and Mr. Hull obviously opposed this business. After getting up in the morning, the two sides began to argue about this business, a situation of three against two, from the breakfast table to the yard at this moment.
"Mr. Farrell, if the business in Hoboken is really profitable, why don't you invest in it yourself, instead of encouraging me, who can't do addition and subtraction above ten without a calculator, to come up with money?" Tommy said to his father-in-law Farrell. "I asked you to dump the trouble on the poor poor people in Rhode Island, but I didn't ask you to dump it on my dear old dad. My dad was indeed a poor guy before, but now he has a smart son, no, two."
"Thank you for the compliment, Tommy, but I won't betray you and support you." Tony laughed and retorted when he heard what Tommy said.
Colin looked at Tommy with dissatisfaction and glared at him: "Hey! Boy, let me remind you~"
"What reminder?" Seeing Colin's stern face, Tommy took a step back behind Mr. Hull.
Colin corrected Tommy's mistake very seriously: "Thirty. I will only use a calculator if the total is over thirty."
The other four people present were stunned as Colin explained. They didn't understand why the total number exceeding ten and thirty was so important to Colin. They needed to point it out specifically. Could it prove that their father was smarter?
Julian began to explain, "I explained it many times. As you said, Tommy, I explained to those people that my factory needs to consider the black people's demonstrations. I had no choice but to do so. Moreover, my son-in-law Tommy also supports me in providing jobs to black people. After all, he is the CEO of BT Black TV Network... Before I could explain it clearly to everyone, Colin stood up and interrupted me. He told those drunkards who almost raped me, saying, hey, I have a better solution. I have a shipbreaking yard in Rhode Island. I have always wanted to expand the scale, but there are no more suitable docks and land there. He is willing to invest in a portion of the shares of the Hoboken Shipyard, and then transport the scrapped ships collected by his family here to beach them, and he can also let them help dismantle them."
Hull looked at Farrell and Colin seriously: "Towing those shabby fishing boats from Rhode Island to Hoboken, New Jersey, to be dismantled? The money earned by the shipbreaking yard may not be enough to pay for the towing. Even I don't have any education, I can understand that this business is not profitable, Colin."
"If I don't interrupt Julian, he will tell those guys that my son runs a TV station for niggers, provides jobs for niggers, and even his nigger bodyguards can drive luxury cars to nightclubs to get drunk. How can I face them? When I first went there, I boasted to them that I was a descendant of the KKK, but now my son is working like a slave for niggers?" Father Colin said confidently, "Give some of the shipbreaking yard's training ship dismantling orders to Hoboken. Those people can continue to work and I can continue to make profits."
Tony nodded in agreement. "I think you're making a fuss, Tommy. Besides, regarding the dismantling contracts for the Rhode Island Naval Academy training ships, I think it would be faster to tow the ships to Hoboken for dismantling. Dad and his men are only willing to dismantle three or four ships a year, which is too slow. Mr. Farrell also said that he is willing to help Dad provide a tugboat at a reasonable price."
"Have you ever seen a government contractor willing to complete the work faster? The long-term dismantling order for the scrapped training ships that I asked you to help get is a retirement contract for Dad, Mr. Wilson, and Mr. Hull, do you understand? Just complete it slowly. Anyway, there are a lot of training ships, and they only need to be dismantled slowly. They don't need to be towed to their own shipbreaking yard immediately. They can be parked at the training dock of the academy. Every off-season, we can dismantle one ship and collect a sum of money. Now, two or three hundred workers can complete the work that Dad and his colleagues did in more than ten years in three months." Tommy ignored his father and explained to Tony seriously:
"And Dad doesn't have that much money. I guess Mr. Farrell must have offered to lend Dad some money. So, this is Mr. Farrell's problem."
Julian Farrell did not deny it, but generously stated that if he made money, the interest could be calculated at the lowest interest rate, and if he did not make money, he would not need to repay the interest.
Seeing his father-in-law's face that he even had to pay interest on the money earned by his mother's relatives, Tommy tried his luck, took a step forward to meet Julian, got close to him and lowered his voice:
"Don't push me, Mr. Farrell. You'd better immediately bear the cost of the investment my father promised to make. Maybe if I mention a place name, I can increase the chances of your agreement, such as the Alamo in Manhattan."
"I just happen to know a place name, Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco." As Tommy's father-in-law, Julian took a step forward and whispered in Tommy's ear.
Tommy quickly added, "Vienna, Austria."
"Four Seasons Hotel Washington." Julian continued to fight back.
“Miami’s azure blue beaches.”
“Four Seasons Hotel Miami.”
Tommy sighed, and they both took a step back, so the idea of using the nuclear bundling model to maintain world peace should be correct.
"Do you want to continue, kid?" Julian looked at Tommy with a smile and blinked.
Now he is not worried that Tommy will be willing to break up with his daughter. Tommy has devoted much effort and resources to his daughter over the years, even far more than he, as a father. Although this guy has pretended to be a good man for three years, Julian has not given up. His son-in-law has information about his secret meetings with several mistresses. If he does not have some equivalent information, then wouldn't he be waiting to be coerced by this bastard?
Peace must be due to equal strength. The other party can hire Pinkerton detectives, and you are not a penniless pauper, so you can just hire another group of Pinkerton people.
"You're forcing me, Mr. Farrell. The accounting audit of my VOX TV network has been entrusted to a very outstanding financial manager at KPMG, Ms. Shirley Reynolds. If you insist, I will let her help my father manage the finances of the shipbreaking yard." Tommy saw that his father-in-law had become tough and was worried that he was cheating him, so he decisively increased the stakes, saying that he not only knew the process, but also knew the woman's name and identity.
Julian also looked at Tommy calmly and counterattacked, "The legal advisor of Sea Line Shipping Industry was just replaced by a lady named Delia Case last year. I think she is equally good. If you are scaring me, I will let her talk to you about the problem of intimidating me."
The unscrupulous father-in-law and son-in-law stared at each other for a few seconds, then looked at Farrell and his daughter on the balcony in the distance with a guilty look, and finally opened their arms and hugged each other. Farrell strangled Tommy's neck with his arm and said affectionately: " I still love you, Tommy, we are family, don't let family affection be eroded by money, I'll pay."
"I have the same respect for you. I'm sorry. I can't believe I spoke to you in such a rude manner just now. I'm here to find a buyer to see if the shipyard's land can be sold for a good price. I can't let you bear the loss." Tommy put his arms on his father-in-law's lower back, trying to strangle the other's kidneys, but his tone was full of guilt.
"Sell it?" Colin suddenly asked when he heard the word coming out of his son's mouth.
"Are we really going to give them the order? Of course, we're going to use this naval training ship dismantling order as an excuse to whet their appetite. We're going to use the excuse of investment investigation to make a detailed investigation to see if there's anything else that can be squeezed out of this worthless shipyard of theirs. If there is, we'll bargain for it, sell it, declare bankruptcy, and let those guys who humiliated me yesterday continue to be unemployed." Farrell was still hugging Tommy tightly, as if he wanted to use the power of the hug to let everyone feel his love for his son-in-law Tommy. When he heard Colin's puzzled question, he let go of Tommy and said to Colin.
As Julian finished his vampire speech, the situation changed again. Mr. Hull immediately defected to Colin and Tony, while Tommy and Julian, the father-in-law and son-in-law who had just been reluctant to send each other to death, stood firmly together.
Colin stared at Julian and asked in confusion, "When those people learned the result yesterday, they almost knelt down happily to lick our balls and helped you and me as God who saved them. The bar owner waived all our expenses. Remember that barmaid? In the end, she almost begged you to pinch her a few more times to thank you for providing jobs for those guys, including her husband. Now you say you want to continue to make them unemployed."
"I want to say that three months of kindness is still kindness. Just a lick and a pinch can make you happy for three months. It's not a short time." Tommy said beside him:
"Or I can ask Mr. Page to send your money back to the bar owner for last night."
Julian patted Tommy with relief and said, "Well said. Who would remember the drunken words we said last night?"
Colin saw what the two were doing and turned away. Mr. Hull looked the crazy father-in-law and son-in-law up and down and said, "The beasts in Warwick are more humane than you two..."
"Do you want to say something?" Tony looked at Tommy speechlessly, then quickly caught up with his father and patted him on the back comfortingly.
Colin sighed, "Yeah, I'm damn lucky to have two sons. Son, I have an idea. Why don't you change your last name back to Hawke, and let Tommy change his last name to Farrell."
