Volume 4: The Undead Chapter 192: The Treasure Sword - Great Indra and the Treasure Sword - Great Freedom
"Is there really no way to kill the cannibal?" Ating asked tentatively.
"Unfortunately..." Zong Hai smiled bitterly and shook his head, "As far as I know - not yet."
"Maybe there is a way to kill the cannibal ghost, but I haven't found it yet."
"The above is all the information I know about the cannibal ghosts."
By the time Zong Hai and Xian Hai had finished telling all the information they knew about the cannibal ghosts, the pot of vegetable porridge had just been eaten up by four people.
While the four of them were talking, they had finished dinner without realizing it.
"Okay..." Zong Hai stood up with a smile, "We've finished our meal and talked about serious matters. My two donors, are you interested in taking a good look around our temple?"
"Since the two donors arrived at the small temple today, they went straight to drink water and take a bath, without even having the time to take a good look at the small temple."
"If you two benefactors are willing, I will be happy to show you around."
"You two benefactors have just heard so many serious things. It would be great if you could do something to relax your mind."
After hearing Zong Hai's suggestion, Ogata and A-Machi looked at each other.
Then they nodded together.
"Then..." Ogata said softly, "Thank you for your help."
…
…
Xianhai went to wash the dishes.
Sokai led Ogata and Atachi to visit Tenmanji Temple.
The first place that Sokai took Ogata and the other man to visit was the Buddhist hall of Tenmanji Temple.
The Buddhist hall of Tenmanji Temple is not big, and it would feel crowded if you put twenty or so people in it.
There is only one Buddha statue enshrined in the temple.
Zong Hai and Xian Hai must have been very diligent in cleaning the Buddhist temple on a daily basis, so both the Buddha statues and the floor of the temple were spotlessly clean.
Neither Ogata nor Atachi believed in Buddhism and had no knowledge of Buddhism, so neither of them knew what kind of Buddha was enshrined in the Buddhist hall of Tenmanji Temple.
"Songhai." Ogata asked Songhai, "What kind of Buddha do you worship?"
"Acalanatha." Zong Hai said without hesitation.
Ogata had heard of the name of Acala, although he had only heard of the name and had no idea what kind of Buddha Acala was.
As for Atachi, who was standing next to Ogata, when he learned that the Buddha statue in front of him was Acala, his handsome eyebrows raised slightly and a thoughtful look appeared on his face.
…
…
There was nothing good to see in the Buddhist temple. After Zong Hai took Ogata and Ating for a tour of the temple, he led them to the vegetable garden to the east of the temple.
"This is the vegetable garden that I am proud of." Zong Hai introduced it to Ogata and the others with a smile.
"The area is really huge... In addition to cabbage, there is also rice..." Ah-Ming sighed in a low voice, "Did you and Xianhai plant these together?"
"That's right. After Xianhai converted to Buddhism, I expanded the vegetable garden a little bit. I planted more rice and cabbage."
"Thanks to this vegetable garden and that well, I and Xianhai can barely be self-sufficient in our daily food and drink."
After showing the two of them a brief tour of the vegetable garden, Zong Hai led Ogata and the other two towards the back hall.
As he led Ogata and the other two toward the back hall, Atachi Chao Zonghai asked in confusion:
"Zonghai." Ah-Ting pointed to the west, "Isn't there a small temple to the west of the Buddhist temple? Won't you take us to see that small temple?"
"Oh, that..." Zong Hai, who was walking in front, said softly, "There is nothing in that ancestral hall. There is nothing to see."
"If you two are interested in the temple, I will take you to have a look."
After saying that, Zong Hai turned and walked towards the west side of the Buddhist hall.
To the west of the Buddhist temple stands a small ancestral hall alone.
The door of the small ancestral hall was not locked, and Zong Hai pulled it open.
This ancestral hall can really be described as "small and exquisite". Even if you squeeze three people in it, it will feel crowded.
There should be a Buddha statue on the altar in the ancestral hall.
However, there was no Buddha statue on the altar of this ancestral hall, but instead there was an empty knife rack.
"Knife holder?" Ogata raised his eyebrows.
"Originally, there were two precious swords enshrined in this ancestral hall." Zong Hai said softly.
Looking at the empty knife rack, a look of reminiscence emerged on Zong Hai's face.
"I have a mentor who led me into Buddhism."
"Two years ago, after witnessing the villagers on the island turning into cannibals one after another, the mentor, who was deeply saddened by the suffering of the islanders, decided to find a way to kill the cannibals."
"My mentor has tried many, many methods."
"That includes knife forging."
"Master, he intends to forge a knife that can kill cannibals."
"Master, he believes that if we inject Buddha power into the knife, we might be able to kill the cannibal ghost."
“So while forging the knife, my teacher and I kept reciting Buddhist scriptures to the knife.”
A faint bitter smile appeared on Zong Hai's face.
"Just thinking back on those days makes my scalp tingle... I have read Buddhist scriptures to many people in my life, but this is the first time I have read Buddhist scriptures to a knife that is not yet formed and is still in the casting stage."
"In the end, the knife was forged successfully."
" My mentor forged two swords in total, a katana and a wakizashi."
"According to my mentor, he poured all his life's learning into these two swords, and these two swords are also his greatest masterpieces of his life."
"My mentor named that katana - Daishikuten."
"Name that wakizashi - Daijizai."
“What a pity…”
Zong Hai let out a long sigh.
"These two precious swords, which my mentor has devoted his entire life to, still failed to cause any harm to the cannibal."
"Seeing that the two swords he had painstakingly crafted were not put to use, my mentor became depressed for a while."
"After enshrining the Great Indra and Great Freedom in this temple for a period of time, the master gave them to his friend."
"Friend?" Ogata looked regretful. "Who were these two swords given to?"
"The chief of Toyowa Village - Chikanosuke. He is the man I just told you about, the one who called on all the villagers on the island to gather in Toyowa Village and built a wooden wall to isolate the cannibals."
"Chikanosuke has a deep friendship with his mentor."
"Chikanosuke also treasured the two swords given by his mentor very much."
"Now these two swords should be well kept by Chikanosuke."
"Has it been given away already..." Ogata sighed softly, "I wanted to see what the precious sword forged by your mentor looks like..."
As soon as Ogata finished his sigh, Atachi beside him let out a soft "ah".
Then Chao Zonghai asked anxiously:
"You worship Acala and forge swords... Are you from the Tianxiang Sect?"
