Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 284 Bear Paw

Norm Greengrass had no interest in being a Death Eater.
The reason he joined this team was just a way for the Greengrass family to show their loyalty to Voldemort.
But as a person born into a pure-blood family, Nom doesn't care about the so-called theory of bloodline, nor does he care about power and wealth. His ambition since childhood has not changed, which is to travel around the world and try all kinds of food.
That's right, he is just a simple foodie.
But he had no choice about what kind of family he was born into. Since he had enjoyed the fine food and clothing of the Greengrass family since he was a child, he had to make his due contribution to this family after he grew up, just like his aunt who served as the Half-Blood Dean of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
However, the Greengrasses were much more open-minded than other pure-blood families. They knew that Gnom was not interested in this, so they made a promise to him to let him stay among the Death Eaters for three to five years. After this period of time, they would let him resign from his position and do what he really wanted to do.
Norm gladly accepted this, as he was already satisfied enough to have such an agreement.
After joining the Death Eaters, he could no longer get along with his colleagues who were all doing evil things around him. Every day he was still thinking about how to have a good meal, even now that he was transferred to the North Pole.
"This is a delicacy. I saw it in a Muggle cookbook before, so don't think it's not worth the trip. I promise you won't regret it."
Norm urged Hanks, if those bears weren't so hard to catch, he wouldn't have teamed up with another Death Eater to join him.
Hanks was not actually that interested in eating, but patrolling late at night made him hungry. The dry rations provided by the Ministry of Magic were not bad, but after eating them for so many days in a row, even the most delicious food would make them sick of it.
So after hearing Norm's moving story, he decided to come along this time to try something different.
In the pitch-black snow, the two men, holding two dimly glowing wands, approached the polar bears that Gabrielle named "Little White No. 2 Type 1" and "Little White No. 2 Type 2" at John's suggestion.
"These bears are too alert. Go around and surround them from the opposite side with me. Don't use point-to-point spells. Use blasting spells directly to make sure you can blow them to death directly. Anyway, we only eat bear paws."
Norm gave orders to Hanks in a low voice, but he didn't notice that in the snow pile in front of him, there were six eyes hiding behind the invisibility cloak, watching them silently.
Jon heard their conversation and only then realized why these two people came here in the middle of the night.
They didn't find any problems, they just wanted to eat grilled bear paws!
To be honest, Jon and his friends were unlucky. There were so many polar bears in the Arctic Ocean, but Nome just fell in love with the two who were pulling the cart for them.
But whether he should attribute this to luck or not, Jon felt that these two Death Eaters who hunted bears in the middle of the night were weird.
Not only John, Gabrielle also heard the conversation between the two Death Eaters. She didn't dare to speak at this time, but just turned her head and looked at John pitifully.
After all, these were the only two "pets" she had since she came to the Arctic. Of course, she couldn't bear to let others blow them to death and roast their bear paws for food.
Jon just winked at her, signaling her not to act rashly, but Jon himself had no intention of launching a sneak attack.
Although the two Death Eaters planned to ambush the bear hunter at different points, they were not far apart, and they always held their wands in their hands and remained alert. John could launch a sneak attack and knock down one of them, which was 100% possible, but there was no way to guarantee that he could keep the other one down.
If another Death Eater escaped successfully and brought back the news that John had arrived in the Arctic, it would be difficult for him to move forward.
So Jon did not act rashly, but of course, this did not mean that he would give up these two bears that had made great contributions to them.
In other words, these two bears didn't need their help to rescue them at all.
Soon, the actions of the two polar bears confirmed Jon's thoughts.
When Nick woke Jon up, the two polar bears had already woken up.
But they didn't make any special movements and were still lying on the ice, looking like they were sleeping soundly.
Just when Norm and Hanks completed the encirclement and were about to attack them, the two polar bears suddenly climbed up from the ground!
The expression on Norm's face froze for a second, and then he immediately reacted.
"Thunder explosion!"
A blazing flame exploded in the direction of his wand, but the two bears' reactions were more sensitive than anyone else!
They ran and slid on the ice, easily escaping the range of the Gnome's blasting spell, and then separated tacitly and ran in different directions.
"What are you staring at?"
Norm's shouting, which seemed a little frantic, woke up Hanks. They did not give up easily, but coordinated their goals and chased in the direction where one of the bears fled, as if they were determined to have this midnight snack tonight.
After they were completely gone, Jon took off his invisibility cloak and looked at the messy ice surface.
The aftermath of the Gnome's blasting spell unfortunately lifted up a corner of the snowmobile. If they had not chased the bear but stayed where they were, they would have noticed the abnormality here.
"Will they be okay?" Gabrielle asked worriedly.
At this time, Jon was full of confidence in the two bears. Through their performance yesterday and today, he had confirmed that these two polar bears were by no means ordinary domesticated animals. Not only were their IQs far higher than half of the animals, but their physical fitness was also far superior to normal polar bears.
"Don't worry, they will be fine. Instead of worrying about them, we should worry about how we can continue the journey."
Jon took out the map in the dark and then used his wand to cast an illumination spell.
"Whether it's because of our bad luck or because these two foodies have other intentions, we definitely can't count on the two bears to come back, so we have to go on our own from now on."
For an ordinary person, walking a hundred miles in this world of ice and snow relying on human strength would be a suicidal attempt.
No one could walk so far without any supply points in between, let alone in the Arctic.
However, for Jon, this may be a little difficult, but it is definitely not an impossible thing.
