Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 277 Evil Deeds

Facing Jon's gaze, Grindelwald's expression was calm.
"Is there something wrong?"
His casual voice sounded like he was asking about something trivial.
Jon took a deep breath, his face full of seriousness and solemnity.
"I don't think these people don't deserve to die, but even if you kill them, you don't have to use such cruel means. You should at least give them the dignity of a human being."
Grindelwald seemed to have no intention of answering John's question. He stepped into the snow that had dyed red with blood, and Hans followed him in quick steps.
"These are my prisoners. How I deal with them is entirely up to me. You are not qualified to tell me what to do."
Continuing to walk in, there is a dilapidated and shabby little house surrounded by dead trees. It is a house made entirely of wood. The wooden boards nailed together are tattered and there is no way to resist the cold wind, rain and snow.
"There are still 14 living people in that room. Your task today is to get all the information they know in their minds. They are destined to die. As Voldemort's confidants, they must provide us with some value before they die."
As he spoke, Grindelwald threw a cloth bag filled with truth serum to John.
Jon took the cloth bag silently, but he did not move towards the wooden house.
The scene here has caused him psychological and physical discomfort, and even his originally good impression of Grindelwald has become distorted. These acts of torturing and killing prisoners have reached an anti-human level.
Grindelwald seemed to see what John was thinking. He had no intention of explaining or getting angry, and just spoke calmly.
"Don't forget what you promised me in front of Albus last night. It hasn't even been a day yet, and you're going to go back on your word?"
Jon took a deep breath, raised his head, looked at Grindelwald deeply, then walked towards the wooden house without looking back.
Of course he had not forgotten the promise he made last night. Since he had agreed to it and could do it, he would do it.
Watching Jon carrying the cloth bag and walking into the cabin, Hans curled his lips, expressing his disdain for Jon's reaction just now.
"Master, why did you bring this ignorant kid here? Isn't the research here known to only three people at most?"
Grindelwald looked at him, his eyes filled with frightening indifference.
"If you are smart enough, you should know that I brought a person who should not be brought to such an important place, which means that the value this person can bring to me is far greater than the place itself. Do you understand? Ramo Hans."
Hans' body trembled unconsciously under that gaze.
The dwarf old man, whose hands were stained with the blood of more than three-digit wizards, could only avoid his master's gaze out of fear and spoke with utmost respect.
"I can, I understand, Master!"
Grindelwald withdrew his gaze and walked to the surrounding corpses that were hung on tree branches and disemboweled in the snow.
"So with so many samples sacrificed, can you tell me a little bit about your findings?"
When talking about serious matters, Hans also became serious.
"The samples you sent are all excellent materials. Since I took over these people yesterday, I have been checking them all night according to our previous guesses, and I have indeed made some discoveries that have never been discovered before..."
Jon had no idea what Grindelwald and Hans were talking about outside.
He pushed open the door of the cabin, and an irresistible smell of blood hit him in the face.
The ground was covered with scarlet blood, and there were pieces of what looked like minced meat and internal organs thrown everywhere, making it look dirty and messy.
But what attracted the most attention was the group of people huddled in the corner.
These people were all Death Eaters who participated in the siege of John yesterday. There were both men and women among them, but they were no longer as rampant as they were on the sea. Each of them had disheveled hair, tattered robes, and their faces were covered with black and red blood that had dried up like scars.
Their eyes were dark, as if their bodies had been kissed by Dementors and their souls had been sucked away. Only when Jon came in did these people seem to come alive again, trembling all over and looking at Jon with eyes filled with fear and despair.
Jon drew out his wand, but instead of casting a spell on the Death Eaters, he cast a cleansing spell on the long table in the middle of the cabin that was covered in minced meat and blood.
There was so much filth on it that even if he used the cleaning spell, he couldn't clean it all up. But Jon didn't bother with this detail anymore. He swept away all the broken meat, leaving only some blood that couldn't be cleaned away in the cracks. Then he placed the cloth bag that Grindelwald gave him on the table.
From the cloth bag, he pulled out five bottles of truth serum, two thick blank notebooks, and a shorthand quill.
"Let us go...okay?"
A witch covered in blood pleaded hoarsely.
"Let me die, please, give me a quick death!"
She seemed to have no strength to speak, but her desperate and humble request did not stop Jon from doing what he was doing.
When Jon entered the wooden house, he had already thought of a lot in his mind.
He didn't think Grindelwald was a cruel madman like Voldemort, and he didn't have any perverted habits, otherwise even if he walked out of the tower, Dumbledore would never cooperate with him.
So why did he treat these Death Eaters so cruelly?
Human magic experiment.
This was the only explanation. Jon was not unfamiliar with this kind of experiment. It was not that he had seen or learned about it somewhere, but there were quite a few experiments on this topic in the banned books he got from the Hogwarts library.
Even the physical carriers of some books are made of the skin and flesh of these experimental subjects.
In the ignorant and barbaric Middle Ages, you cannot expect all wizards in the same environment to be so humane.
No matter what kind of group they are, as long as they are human beings, they have the potential to constantly refresh the lower limit of being human.
Grindelwald must be using these to conduct some magical experiments. These experiments may not necessarily be evil, but the use of such methods is extremely inhumane.
But Jon had no way to say anything. These "experimental subjects" were his enemies. If possible, they would have killed him without hesitation yesterday. And what Grindelwald said was not wrong. They were all his captives. Jon had no power to accuse or order them to do whatever he wanted with them.
What's more, Grindelwald saved him from these people.
Listening to the witch's pleading, Jon pursed his lips. He had no intention of speaking. He just silently opened a bottle of truth serum and then drew some from it with a dropper.
He walked up to the nearest wizard and dripped three drops of Veritaserum into his open, gasping mouth.
The wizard had no intention of resisting, and he had no room to resist at all.
I don’t know what spell the old man named Hans used on them. Although these people seemed to be able to move their hands and feet slightly, they just sat slumped on the ground with no signs of struggling.
After being injected with truth serum, the wizard's eyes became even more empty and confused.
Jon suspended the feather pen on the table above the notebook, and it would automatically record all subsequent conversations in the room without the need for manual control.
Looking at the wizard who was already ready to answer every question, Jon let out another long breath and asked.
"What information do you know that could be of value to us?"
The wizard was silent for about a second or two, as if giving his brain time to recall and react. Then his mouth opened and closed, and like pouring beans, he spoke out everything he had learned.
The shorthand quill was moving rapidly on the diary. In the wooden house, besides the whirring sound of the cold wind blowing through the holes in the wooden boards, the only sounds were the heavy breathing of the Death Eaters, the sound of the pen tip scratching across the paper, and the wizard's words without any emotion.
He confessed a lot of things, saying that his name was "Bilis Carrow" and that he had a cousin and a cousin who were professors in Hogwarts Castle.
He talked about all the secret missions he had done under Voldemort, and the dirty deeds and connections between the upper-level pure-blood officials.
He talked about what he knew about the British Ministry of Magic's plan to round up the Order of the Phoenix.
As he continued to talk, Jon's expression, which originally showed a bit of discomfort and sympathy, became increasingly cold, and finally turned completely expressionless.
"...A week ago, the higher-ups assigned me a mission to siege the remaining Order of the Phoenix forces in the UK. I was at Kruger's house at the time. His wife was great, but he was incompetent and could only watch me play with his wife. But that day, his son, who had just started his first year at Hogwarts, came back from leave for some reason. When he saw me insulting his mother, he raised his wand at me like crazy. Kruger was scared and wanted to stop his son. The stupid woman under me was also screaming. They made me very irritated, and the mission assigned by the higher-ups made me very uneasy. I couldn't help it and killed Kruger and his son."
His voice was so calm, not just because of the effect of the truth serum, but because he was just used to such things.
"That stupid woman kept struggling. She had never fought like this before. She cried and said that I had destroyed everything she had, which made me even more angry. They only cared about their own dissatisfaction and never considered my mood and feelings, so I killed her too."
"They are all half-bloods, and they can't be easily dealt with like Mudbloods. So I bribed the people from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement who came to investigate, and set the Kruger family's house on fire, making it look like an accidental fire to cover it up."
"But I was so obsessed with that woman that I didn't want to forget her, so I cut off her head and kept it. It's still hidden in my study."
Jon had already clenched his fists tightly as he listened to the wizard finish telling about just one of his countless crimes.
He suppressed the urge to draw his wand and cast the Killing Curse on this scumbag, and instead gritted his teeth and asked in a trembling voice.
"So, what were your results regarding the Phoenix Order's crackdown last week?"
"Those guys were too cunning. We dispatched a lot of people, but we only caught one of them in the end."
“Who is it!”
"Emmeline Vance."
Jon remembered this name. She was a kind old witch. On the night before Halloween last year when the Hogwarts carriage separated from Dumbledore and his companions, this witch was among the group of Order of the Phoenix members who said goodbye to them.
"You caught her?" Jon stared at the wizard.
"We captured her at first, but she resisted fiercely and attempted suicide several times. She bit off her tongue the first time, which prevented us from feeding her Veritaserum. The memories of these people are also difficult to extract, and ordinary people's Legilimency has no way to break their mental defenses. So... we chopped her up and threw her to feed the Voldemort."
"Bang!"
Jon suddenly punched the wooden table! The already creaking wooden table shook violently and was almost broken by him. The shorthand quill pen on it flew up and fell back on the table before continuing to record.
Jon could no longer bear the desire to kill in his heart, he pulled out his wand, and the knuckles of his fingers that were holding the wand tightly turned pale from using too much force!
He waved his wand at the wizard, but at the last moment, he changed his original spell and the incantation he was chanting also changed.
"Crucio!"
One of the Unforgivable Curses burst from the tip of his staff and fell upon the wizard.
No one could endure the torture that came from the depths of the soul. The intense pain instantly woke the wizard up from the effects of the truth serum. His whole body convulsed and curled up like a cooked shrimp!
But Jon did not stop his actions. His expression was colder than ever before, his eyes were so terrifying, and the same spell rang out.
"Crucio!"
"ah!!!"
The wizard let out a miserable howl, his skin seemed to have shrunk and stuck tightly to his bones, and his blue veins twitched constantly under his pale skin like wriggling earthworms!
Jon was breathing heavily, staring at the wizard who had been tortured into an inhuman state, but the tyranny in his heart seemed to have not been vented at all, but instead accumulated more and more.
The other Death Eaters were watching this scene with trembling eyes. John had the urge to abandon everything in the cabin and leave immediately.
He wanted to escape from this bloodiest darkness and erase all memories since he was brought here by Grindelwald.
But in the end, he didn't make any move.
Instead, he remained silent for a long time, and finally took a very long, deep breath, then looked at the next Death Eater with an emotionless gaze again.
"Sorry, that was a bit of a bummer, let's move on."
