Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 275 Interrogation
"Mr. Weasley?"
Little Barty asked calmly.
Percy nodded and took a deep breath .
"Yes, I'm Percy Weasley."
Little Barty pointed to the chair opposite him, which was usually occupied only by prisoners from the magical world.
"You should know who I am. Don't be too nervous. We just have some questions that we want to consult you on. After all, in some aspects, you are a true professional."
His relatively polite words reassured Percy a little, but his tense body never relaxed.
Percy followed Barty Jr.'s instructions and obediently sat on the iron chair opposite him. The chains of the shackles on the armrests were very cold. Even though Percy's hands were handcuffed, the coldness almost penetrated into his flesh.
Little Barty picked up a piece of parchment that looked like a file from the table in front of him. He glanced at a line of words on the parchment and looked up into Percy's eyes.
"Jon Green. This is the name you reported to the Aurors when you first arrived at the Ministry of Magic last September, saying that he was directly related to the case in Hogwarts Castle at the beginning of last year?"
Hearing little Barty's first question, Percy breathed a sigh of relief again and spoke calmly.
"Yes, sir. At that time, I reported to the Auror that after the incident at Hogwarts Castle, it was Jon Greene and two other professors who brought those mudblood students back to the carriage. Dumbledore announced to everyone that it was all Jon's credit to rescue these people."
Little Batty listened to him retell his confession at that time, looked down at the document in his hand, and continued what he said.
"At that time, the Auror concluded that a third-year student could not do that anyway, so he speculated that this student named Jon Green was just a smokescreen released by Dumbledore, and that someone else actually sneaked into Hogwarts Castle?"
Percy became a little excited as he talked about this, and he raised his voice.
"I have emphasized to the Aurors who asked me about this matter that Dumbledore generally does not lie to students, especially when such lies would bring unnecessary danger to Jon Greene. So this is most likely not a smokescreen. At the very least, Jon Greene made a major contribution to the case. But they didn't take it seriously! Have you found any new evidence?"
Little Batty put down the information in his hand, his expression obviously even .
"You will not be held responsible for this matter. Regarding the negligence of these Aurors, they will also receive due punishment. However, we have more important things to understand next."
He stared at Percy, his eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Tell me everything you know about Jon Green, his habits, his preferences, his personality, his social life at school."
Under this gaze, Percy's breathing became rapid.
He felt that things were not simple. If it was just the Death Eaters who found clues that John had sneaked into Hogwarts Castle, then the person interrogating him here today should not be Barty the Younger. He should be sitting in the office of the Auror Command Center, drinking tea and chatting with Lucius Malfoy.
Then there could only be a bigger problem! And this problem is related to Jon Green!
Percy didn't hold back and told him everything he knew about Jon.
But in fact, when he defected from the Hogwarts carriage, Jon only stayed in the carriage for a year in total, and in his first year, Jon did not show any outstanding deeds.
At that time, he was studying Occlumency and magic related to the ring in private with Slughorn. Even if Jon and Ron were not in the same grade, Percy might not have been able to remember Jon's name at that time.
After John's second year, he was not in school until he took Hermione and the others back to the Hogwarts carriage, and Percy had no way of getting any information about him.
So the information Percy could provide was very limited. At most, he could only let little Barty know that it seemed that Dumbledore didn't pay much attention to John in the first grade, but he disappeared for a while in the second grade, that is, after he sneaked into Hogwarts Castle, there was a major change.
Little Barty looked very disappointed, and Percy also noticed the disappointment on his face, and the calmness he had maintained so far became uneasy.
"Mr. Crouch... May I know what Jon Green did?"
He spoke carefully, as if he was afraid of causing little Barty's displeasure, but even so, little Barty still stood up from his chair in annoyance.
"Don't ask if you're not supposed to know!"
He no longer maintained his previous minimum courtesy and scolded Percy angrily, then raised his wand and swung it at the iron door.
The door was suddenly opened, and little Barty walked out quickly. Percy also stood up. However, before he could leave the iron chair, the pair of shackles on the armrests suddenly rose up by themselves, and with a "click" sound, they controlled his hands!
"Take out his memories of Jon Green and keep them on file! Then call that idiot Lockhart over here and change his memory of this interrogation."
After hearing the order in the interrogation room, Percy fell back into the iron chair with a pale face. Soon, two of the three Death Eaters who brought him here also walked in.
They looked at Percy, who was slumped in the chair, without showing any sympathy. The leading witch just drew out her wand.
"Anything else you want to say? Soon your memory of us and this trial will be gone."
Percy breathed heavily, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at the witch.
"Jon Green, what on earth did he do!"
The witch and her companion looked at each other, and she said coldly while pointing the tip of her wand at Percy's temple.
"This is something you shouldn't know, but Lockhart will be here soon, so it's okay to tell you. Your former classmate killed Lord Rabastan Lestrange!"
The next moment after Percy heard these words, his whole body suddenly stiffened and his eyes became unfocused.
A silver thread of light was slowly and forcibly pulled out of his brain!
