Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 273 The Same Wand

"When I went to England, I went to Ollivander's in Diagon Alley to choose a new wand, which is the one you are holding in your hand."
Grindelwald said calmly.
"It is indeed very useful. After I got it, I rarely used the one I bought from Gregorovitch until I got another wand that was more useful. Then I replaced it. After that, all three of my wands fell into Albus' hands."
Jon looked at the wand in his hand. He had always felt that the wand he was using was older than the ones used by Navi Ron and the others, but he had not thought about its age before. He simply thought that the previous owner of the wand did not pay much attention to its maintenance.
I didn't expect to get the final answer here with Grindelwald today.
Now he finally understood why not only Dumbledore, but even Aberforth showed such a complicated expression when they saw the wand in his hand. He said that he once wanted to break the wand, but was stopped by Dumbledore.
According to Grindelwald, he chose this wand after he went to England, which means that in the dispute and chaos in the Dumbledore family, it is very likely that this wand took the lives of Dumbledore and Aberforth's sister Ariana Dumbledore.
"I actually didn't expect that he would actually take out this wand and give it to students to use, because it has a different meaning to him."
After hearing what Grindelwald said, Jon shook his head and said.
"No, sir. Professor Dumbledore has never taken out this wand. When we were choosing wands, we chose them from an old wooden cabinet in the principal's office at Hogwarts. At that time, your wand was placed at the innermost of the cabinet. I happened to see it and thought it was very suitable for me, so I chose it."
When he said this, Jon shrugged his shoulders and raised the wand in his hand. The tip of the wand, which already had obvious signs of wear and tear, burst into a cluster of brilliant silver flowers.
"Of course, it also chose me."
Grindelwald looked at the spark that clearly represented joy, and a moment of trance appeared in his eyes.
The reason why he went to so much trouble to dig Jon from Hogwarts to Durmstrang was not only because he was impressed by Jon's talent, but one of the most important reasons was the wand in his hand.
Even though there are differences in the techniques used to make wands, the three wand-making families in Europe all agree that there is a close connection between wands and wizards.
Because this is indeed a real thing. In the case of poor adaptability, some wizards, no matter how powerful they are, will not be able to wave part of their wand to use magic. This in itself is a kind of incompatibility.
While one wand might be used by several different wizards, it is rarely fully suitable for two wizards.
People believe that if such a thing happens, there must be some similarity between the two wizards. Just like the same core wand, it is rare for wizards to get a wand with the same core and source as another, which itself represents the same choice.
Now this wand that was once used by Grindelwald is a perfect match for John. The meaning behind this is something that not only made Grindelwald, but also Dumbledore think carefully for a long time at the beginning.
Dumbledore even sent a wizard from the Order of the Phoenix to the Muggle orphanage to retrieve all the information about John, just to see if it was possible that John was the orphan of the Grindelwald family.
But unfortunately, there are traces of the man and woman who abandoned Jon. Even if you trace back five generations, they have nothing to do with the Grindelwald family.
If there is no blood connection, then there can only be some overlaps in certain qualities. But as of now, at least Dumbledore has not found any similarities between John and Grindelwald...
Perhaps, the fact that both of them have leadership qualities can be considered.
It is precisely because of this wand that Grindelwald actually had some different thoughts in his mind, which led to the dispute over which side John belonged to.
Coming back from that trance, Grindelwald pondered .
"When you saw it, you felt it was right for you? What was that feeling like?"
Jon recalled.
"It was a bit like getting an electric shock. I couldn't help but look at . I could tell that Professor Dumbledore didn't want to take it out for students to choose. But I couldn't help but pick it up and asked the professor if I could choose this one."
Grindelwald looked at Jon and asked more deeply.
"When you're fighting an enemy and you don't see their wand pointed at you, but before you hear the spell, do you ever have a gut feeling that something's wrong?"
Jon scratched his head and nodded in response.
"It is true that sometimes I have this intuition, but not every time. It's like the feeling of suddenly getting goose bumps all over my body and having a palpitation in my heart."
"Did Dumbledore give you Divination lessons?" Grindelwald asked.
Jon shook his head.
“There is no such thing for lower grade students, but after reaching the fourth grade, those who are interested in this area can study with Professor Porter.”
Grindelwald sneered.
"What kind of divination class is that? It can only be called a divination interest group at best. In fact, if Albus's student's theory replaces bloodline with talent, it might attract more supporters. Because the superiority of bloodline has never existed, but more talented wizards are indeed much more powerful than those without talent, and divination is the kind of magic that requires the most talent."
Jon understood the deeper meaning of Grindelwald's words and blinked.
"Sir, do you mean to say... that I have a talent for divination?"
Grindelwald's face calmed down and he picked up the quill again.
"Just because you have a talent doesn't mean you can make good use of it. It depends on how you develop it. Of course, if you choose to follow Albus in that carriage for your whole life, you will never even have the possibility of developing it."
Seeing that his attention had shifted to the letters on his desk, Jon tactfully decided not to get in the way in the office. He said, "Good night, sir," and then left the principal's office.
