Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 268: Straightforward and Affirmative
"Teacher... Professor?"
Krum looked at Jon in disbelief.
"If he is the Transfiguration professor, then Professor Johnson..."
"If I want to recruit two Transfiguration professors, do I need to apply to you?"
Grindelwald's voice was very calm, but it was this calm voice that made Krum tremble with fear.
He is muscular but not stupid. He knows that the principal in front of him does not have much patience anymore.
"I accept the punishment, Mr. Principal. I will be put in solitary confinement now!"
He lowered his head and admitted his mistake with an extremely sincere attitude, without any sense of exaggeration.
Grindelwald did not express any more of his attitude towards this, and Krum bowed for the last time, then hurriedly walked towards the confinement room.
Unlike Krum when facing Grindelwald's high pressure, although John was wary of this former dark devil, he was not afraid of him.
After all, since Dumbledore dared to hand over the students of Hogwarts to him, it proved that he would at least not harm them.
But what Grindelwald just said gave Jon a headache.
At first, he didn't realize how his identity as a fake professor had to be confirmed when he arrived at the real Durmstrang, but later, he seemed to have figured out some things.
After dealing with Krum, Grindelwald had no intention of staying to talk to John, and walked straight towards the stairs.
Jon naturally didn't feel like visiting the castle anymore. He quickly followed Grindelwald and asked carefully:
"Mr. Headmaster, may I know how Professor Dumbledore discussed the arrangements for us with you?"
In response to John's questions, Grindelwald did not act as terrific as he was saying. Even when answering John's questions, he did not stop and continued to move forward.
"After what happened today, your voyage has come to an end. Your classmates will be temporarily settled in Durmstrang. When the situation in France is completely clear, we will discuss whether to continue to teach these Hogwarts students independently."
Jon's face showed confusion.
"But we still have one last stop, that place in the North Pole that we haven't visited yet?"
"If Voldemort showed up to see me today, I would go to that place, but you wouldn't be the ones going there. Since he didn't show up today, there's no need to go to the North Pole."
This is a name that has disappeared from the wizarding world for a long time, but Grindelwald called it out without any hesitation.
Jon didn't find it surprising. Even if Voldemort was probably stronger than Grindelwald now, he wasn't much stronger. Wizards of the same level wouldn't be afraid of a name.
His words also answered Jon's doubts.
When they were on the sea, John could feel that if Grindelwald wanted to, he could leave no room for Rodolphus and the others to escape, and all the Death Eaters present could stay, but later he seemed to deliberately let them go.
This was probably to put out the bait and catch the big fish, Voldemort, but it was a pity that Voldemort never showed up in the end.
Since he didn't dare to take the risk of meeting Grindelwald here, it meant that this last remaining location in the Arctic was not too important to him, or he sent Death Eaters to take away the important things in it in advance .
For safety reasons, it was only natural to interrupt the remaining leg of the Hogwarts' voyage.
Anyway, as long as they knew the location, they would always have time to send other people there if they wanted to investigate it in the future. Since Voldemort had already discovered them, there was no need to let John and his group of children take the risk.
But there was clearly something wrong with Grindelwald's words. Although it seemed to be glossed over, Jon still sensed the meaning behind it.
What do you mean these classmates of yours will be temporarily settled in Durmstrang?
Is he not a student of Hogwarts?
Jon then asked tentatively.
"Sir, I didn't quite understand what you just said. Why did you tell Krum that I was the professor of Transfiguration at Durmstrang? Isn't that my fake identity?"
When he asked this question, Grindelwald suddenly stopped.
He turned to look at Jon, and Jon did not avoid looking, meeting his gaze.
But those eyes that seemed to always remain sharp and cold did not seem so piercing at this moment. Instead, they gave Jon an illusion of... gentleness.
"That killing curse today at sea was your first time killing someone?"
Grindelwald asked a question that had nothing to do with what they were discussing.
Hermione looked at Jon in shock. The students of Hogwarts didn't know what kind of battle had taken place between Jon and the Death Eaters while they were away.
Jon didn't shy away from this, he just smiled.
"It's the first time I use it on a human."
"very nice."
It was extremely rare that Grindelwald uttered a compliment, which was enough to shock Rosier and others here.
"Even when I was your age, I had not yet come into contact with the realm of the Unforgivable Curses, let alone learned it."
"The ship disguised as Durmstrang and the identities of the other students were of course fake. Even if Dumbledore wanted to, I would not acknowledge it. But your identity as a professor of Transfiguration is not something that can be said to exist or not."
Grindelwald's words were calm, yet they revealed a tone that left no room for doubt.
"Since Dumbledore has labeled you as my subordinate, it won't be easy to get rid of it. From now on, you will be the Transfiguration professor here in the school with Johnson. Of course, although you have talent, your level is still lacking. If you have any questions about magic in the future, you can always come to me."
After saying that, he left without looking back, leaving Jon and Hermione completely frozen in time.
They were like being petrified. They didn't move for more than ten seconds. Hermione turned to look at John with a strange expression on her face.
"He wants to snatch you from Hogwarts to Durmstrang?"
After digesting this news with difficulty, Jon fell silent.
He really wanted to analyze Grindelwald's words , hoping there might be other meanings behind them, but no matter what reason he gave, it seemed pale and powerless.
Grindelwald didn't try to be tactful at all, he was so straightforward and definitely wanted to snatch the person from Dumbledore!
