Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 228 Madago Cat

"We can't stay here any longer, we have to find a way to leave!"
Neville was very calm. He looked at the stairs that were still going up and spoke in a serious tone.
"The more that knight doesn't want us to leave this tower, the more we have to leave!"
Ron frowned as he looked at the stairs that seemed to never stop.
"But we can't fly like Jon, and the only way to the exit is this staircase. How do we get there?"
The five people fell into silence. They were all trying to think of a solution, but no one had any good idea for the time being.
Hermione pursed her lips as she looked at the staircase that was spinning rapidly like a chain that could ensnare souls. For some reason, she thought of the day at the beginning of this year when Jon was determined to rescue every one of them no matter what.
She had already prepared herself for suicide. At the moment when Dolohov hung her in the hallway, Hermione knew very clearly that there were only two paths waiting for her in the future.
One is to have one's memory wiped and become a slave from the bottom of one's heart like those senior students, and the other is to die.
She would rather die than be a slave who is even lower than a dog!
Just when she was about to die, the boy who claimed to be a professor at Hogwarts did not break his promise as a "professor at another Hogwarts" and never lied, and rescued her in full view of everyone in the castle.
The feeling of having someone to rely on is wonderful and makes people want to keep it.
But Hermione was never a girl willing to be a parasite. She didn't want to be protected by others all her life, and she didn't want to hide behind others all her life.
So after arriving at the carriage, she worked doubly hard, constantly absorbing knowledge like a sponge. She didn't expect to be as independent as the boy, but at least she wouldn't be a burden to him.
She stared at the sliding stairs, and just when the other four people were at a loss, Hermione suddenly spoke.
"As long as we add a flat surface at the right angle of the stairs, we can create a slope! We need a board, a big enough board. As long as we sit on the board, even if these steps keep going up, we can use gravity to slide down!"
Neville's eyes suddenly lit up.
"Good idea, Hermione!"
He immediately turned around and without stopping for a moment, used the Splitting Spell to remove the door panel on their floor.
The board was big enough for the five underage students to sit on.
Luna raised another question.
"But this place is still dozens of floors higher than the first floor. The further we go down, the faster we go. When we finally rush out of the stairs, no one can withstand that force."
Hermione said quietly as she drew her wand.
"Jon told me not to forget the natural sciences I learned in Muggle school, but also to remember that I am a wizard. You are all wizards too. When something rushes towards me at an extremely fast speed, there is actually a very simple spell that can offset its speed."
Lee was the first to react .
"Obstacle spell! Obstacle spell can help us slow down!"
The solution to the problem and the worries were no longer a problem. Neville and the other four quickly cast a levitation spell on the door panel, and then carried it together to the stairs leading up.
The width of the door panel is just narrower than the width of the stairs. There is no gap in the middle of the entire spiral staircase from the top floor to the first floor. However, considering the obstruction of the corners colliding with the stair handrails, Hermione suggested cutting off all four corners of the door panel to form a smooth arc.
After making all the preparations, they did the final countdown together.
"Three, two, one!"
The five of them let go at the same time, placed the door panel whose weight was reduced by the levitation spell on the moving stairs, and then sat on it together quickly!
The stairs that kept going up like an elevator actually added a force to the door panel that was tilting downward as a whole. This force, together with the gravity, caused it to slowly slide downwards after Hermione and the others sat on it!
At the beginning, the sliding speed was not very fast, but as the inertia increased, their speed going down became faster and faster, and soon exceeded the original speed of the stairs themselves!
The strong wind blew up all of their hair. Hermione was at the back of the door, her long chestnut hair fluttering behind her like a flag. As she slid down, she kept observing the floors they were passing by.
"This is the ranch! The 17th floor! We've already passed the 17th floor!"
She had to raise her voice to warn Neville and the others.
However, at this moment, a few inconspicuous black shadows suddenly jumped across the corner of Hermione's eyes!
She couldn't help but have a very bad premonition in her heart, because at this moment she suddenly remembered those slightly strange things they had discovered when they were observing the entire tower!
Black cat!
There are lots of black cats in this tower!
"careful!!!"
She suddenly warned Li who was sitting in the front row, and just as her sharp voice came out of her throat, those black figures had gathered in front of the stairs, blocking their way!
The boys sitting in the front, Lee, Neville, and Ron, all reacted quickly. As soon as Hermione shouted, they gripped their wands and pointed them forward!
"Everyone is petrified!"
"Fainted!"
"Repel at full speed!"
Their spells were released very smoothly, and three dazzling red lights instantly illuminated the entire surrounding space.
But the black figures blocking their way did not show any intention of dodging.
The three spells hit them accurately. Then, under the shocked gazes of Neville and the others, the black cats, whose bodies had grown thicker and whose eyes were glowing with blue light, were not only not affected by any spell effects, but also split into countless pieces in the next second like scattered dandelions!
In less than a second, the black cats, which had increased exponentially in number, completely blocked the corridor where they were going down, and the black cat at the front flew into the air and pounced on Neville and the other two who were at the front of the wooden board!
"Lots of obstacles!"
The moment the black cat flew up, Hermione used the Obstacle Spell without hesitation, but the target of the spell was not the black cat, but the door panel that was sliding down under them.
Those black cats that originally looked gentle and petite, but now acted like little leopards, burst out with powerful force, and coupled with the momentum of the door panel sliding down, they directly knocked the boys sitting in the front row out!
