Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 225 Memory
"Can you tell what this bottle of medicine is, Professor Johnson?"
Sir Stock said solemnly.
Jon was not good at potions, and he couldn't think of any silver potion at the moment.
But the gem in the ring contains more than half of the banned books in the entire Hogwarts library. As long as this potion is not a private secret recipe, there is a good chance that clues can be found in those banned books about potions.
He chose his words carefully.
"I have some superficial knowledge of potions, but you should know, sir, that there are too many kinds of potions, and they are very different. I can't think of any potions that meet the requirements at the moment. But as long as the potion is still there, we can slowly study it and reverse engineer its effect."
Lord Stoker nodded.
"Yes, I also have some books about potions in my study. They are all left by my family and collected by me when I was on land. We can use these materials to do some research."
It's not known whether his words were intentional or unintentional, but they had already put an end to Jon's plan to take the bottle of silver potion away and find out what it was in private.
Jon was more inclined to believe that he did it on purpose. Although Sir Stoke was simple, he was not childish. He certainly would not trust Jon unconditionally, so it was necessary for him to be on guard at this time.
And he had actually shown enough trust. Instead of taking the potion away directly, he expressed his willingness to study with John what the effects of the potion were.
This was an approach that John could accept. After all, he had already obtained the contract signed with Voldemort's real name, and he had a hunch that the biggest problem lay with this contract.
There were not many people on the ship who knew French. Fortunately, Hermione had taught herself French for a period of time and was now in the tower. She didn't need to translate all the contents of the contract. It was enough for her to be able to tell the general meaning.
Jon and Sir Stoke did not stay on the top of the tower any longer. They returned to the study with the silver potion.
The books in the study are indeed mostly about astronomy, but there are also some books about spells and potions.
However, Jon could tell just by looking at the covers that these were basically ordinary potion books that could be bought on the market. Any potions that were slightly unconventional or taboo were not recorded in them.
So Jon's attention was not on the potion books that Sir Stoke took out. He was staring at the bottle of potion placed in the middle of the desk, constantly searching for the banned book about potions in the ring.
Silver-colored potions are already rare, and even after quickly browsing through all the banned books related to potions, Jon could only find four or five types.
The forms of the potions recorded in these potions are very different from the one in front of you.
There is indeed liquid in the glass bottle, but the silver color is floating like smoke, giving people a dreamy feeling.
Sir Stoke naturally couldn't find any results from those ordinary potion books. He frowned and made a suggestion.
"How about we open the bottle, take out a few drops of the potion, and find something to experiment with its effects?"
There is nothing wrong with this suggestion. Before we can find accurate records of the potion, we can only work backwards based on its effects.
"Let me do it. After all, I have experience in preparing potions, so I will be more cautious."
To be on the safe side, Jon took the initiative to take on this task, and Sir Stocker nodded in agreement.
He took the glass bottle and carefully opened the cork.
And just after Jon opened the bottle, the silver smoke that was originally floating in the liquid in the glass bottle suddenly flew out!
The smoke separated from the liquid and condensed into a silver thread in the air at a speed visible to the naked eye, and then rushed towards Sir Stoke's head with a clear goal!
John reacted very quickly as soon as the incident happened and pulled out his wand. When the silver smoke flew out, he cast a spell in front of himself and Sir Stoke without hesitation.
"Protect everyone! "
A variation of the Shield Charm that protects an area instead of just one person.
However, after the silver thread condensed and rushed towards Sir Stoke's head, Jon suddenly had a very bad premonition in his heart!
This thing had always been stored in liquid before, and Jon had the inherent impression that it could only be stored in a meditation basin, so he never went in that direction.
But now, he finally realized what it was!
This is not a magic potion at all, but a wisp of memory!
A wisp of memory pulled out from Sir Stoker's mind!
The Armor Spell is used to resist spells, but of course it cannot prevent memories from returning to its owner's mind.
The silver light rushed smoothly into Sir Stock's mind, and at that moment, the Sir's eyes showed a dazed look.
Jon quickly distanced himself from Sir Stoke, but did not rashly point his wand at the Sir, who had just been studying with him what the bottle of memory was. Instead, he held his breath and asked in a very serious tone.
"It's a memory, isn't it, Lord Stoker?"
The confusion in Sir Stoker's eyes did not last long. Soon his face became a little gloomy, and then changed from gloomy to thoughtful. Finally, he looked into Jon's eyes calmly and said with a smile.
"Why are you so nervous all of a sudden, Professor Johnson? This is just an ordinary memory. I am still me. It won't make me become someone else."
Jon didn't relax his tense body, but the expression on his face was no longer so serious.
"Yes, memories don't change a person in most cases, but since the memory in the bottle is yours, sir, does that mean you put the slate there? You just forgot it?"
Sir Stoke seemed to have not changed much in character since before he got back the memory. He raised his eyebrows and said tactfully.
"This memory, how should I put it...it involves some of my personal privacy, so I'm sorry I can't answer your questions, Professor Johnson. But this doesn't stop me from thanking you. Thank you very much for your help. If you need anything, please feel free to ask. As long as I can do it, I will definitely help."
Jon didn't speak immediately. He looked into Sir Stoke's eyes, and the atmosphere remained quiet for half a minute.
