Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 185 Sir Nicholas Never Lies
Just as Scabior released the owl, Jon and the others had already reached the stairs leading to the second floor.
The entire first floor had been searched by Nick first, and there were no other people or creatures there. Now they only had to concentrate on dealing with the Auror upstairs.
Jon raised his wand, poked his head out from the invisibility cloak, and winked at Nick, who understood and floated towards the second floor.
At this time, Scabior was leaning against the wall on the same side of the door, with half of his face turned sideways, his wand tightly grasped in his hand, his eyes fixed on the stairs.
Without any sound of footsteps, Nick floated silently to the second floor. The man and the ghost were caught off guard and suddenly their eyes met!
No matter how cautious Scabio was, he would never have thought that there would be a ghost cooperating with the person who sneaked in. The moment Nick saw him, he screamed.
"He found us! In the room directly opposite us after going upstairs!"
Scabior couldn't stop him from delivering the message. Most of the wizard's spells were ineffective against ghosts, and he had no way of causing any harm to Nick.
Scabio knew very well that the person he should really attack was the person to whom the ghost was delivering the information!
There was a distinct sound of footsteps on the wooden stairs. He could easily tell that someone was speeding up to go upstairs, and from the messy footsteps, he could clearly tell that there were more than one person.
The footsteps became louder and closer, but suddenly, just when Scabio felt that the person going upstairs was about to appear at the stairs, the sound stopped abruptly, and there was still no one in front of him!
He did not hesitate any longer, having already concluded in his heart that the wizard who rushed up had either used an Disillusionment Charm on him or put on an Invisibility Cloak. He aimed directly at the narrow space at the stairs, waving his staff and chanting spells at extremely fast speeds.
"Avada Kedavra!"
The first move is a death curse!
Even though he hadn't seen the enemy yet, Scabior had no intention of holding back, because there must be more than one person rushing up the stairs. Even if he wanted to keep him alive for interrogation, he would have to wait until he was sure he was alive.
As the most powerful black magic, the Killing Curse cannot be resisted by any magic. Even the Shield Spell is ineffective against it. It is the best way to reduce the number of enemies at the very beginning of the battle!
But the green beam of deathly silence just swept straight through the space at the entrance of the stairs and hit the wall behind it, leaving a gap with black smoke.
Under the invisibility cloak, Fred was sweating profusely. The killing curse just flew past his head less than five centimeters away. If Jon had not reached out to stop him from walking forward down the stairs just as he was about to step onto the second floor, he would have been dead by now.
The more the situation worsened, the calmer Jon became. Nick was still floating in the air, loudly reporting the enemy's position to them.
"He's still hiding behind the wall! Right in front of the stairs, about 30 degrees to the left!"
After hearing the exact location given by Nick, Jon waved his wand without hesitation!
He did not continue to use the Shadowless Divine Sharpness. The opponent was hiding behind the wall, and the power of the Shadowless Divine Sharpness in his hands was not strong enough to cut through the wall, but another spell he knew could do it!
"Thunder explosion!"
Fred and John's coordination was perfect. As soon as he heard the first syllable of the explosive spell, the wands in his hands began to move!
"Expelliarmus!"
“Boom!”
A loud bang followed by a dazzling flame roared throughout the entire second floor!
No matter how fast Scabior's reaction was, he was not fast enough to escape the range of the explosion spell in such a short time. What's more, the space in the room was very small and he had nowhere to hide.
John's explosive spell was at the level that an average adult wizard could perform, but the effect was enough to blow the entire wall to pieces!
As the wall that Scabio's back was pressed against began to explode, a transparent film of light appeared on his body.
Unlike that idiot McNeill, he is a wizard who has received professional Auror training. He always keeps the Shield Charm on himself under any circumstances when performing a mission. This is a basic quality of a professional Auror.
Since John's explosive spell did not cause direct damage to him, the Armor Spell protected him intact, only causing some tiny cracks on the light film.
Then, just as Scabio was about to counterattack with the help of the collapsed wall and the spreading dust, a dazzling red light hit his armor again!
Under the influence of the disarming spell, the originally transparent light film began to turn blood red. Fred's subsequent spell had a very crucial effect, causing the already cracked Iron Armor Spell to shatter.
The sound like glass breaking was not noticeable in the chaos, but Jon caught it keenly.
He did not stop and quickly rushed up to the second floor via the stairs under the cover of dust, while Nick followed Scabior all the time and conveyed his location to Jon and the others through voice!
"He's running to the window! The armor charm on him is gone! Cast the spell in my direction!"
"Fainted!"
"Expelliarmus!"
Jon and Fred didn't hesitate at all. As soon as they heard Nick's voice, they swung their sticks in the direction of the source!
Two bright red lights cut through the dust and shot straight towards where Scabio was.
Scabior was fed up with this ghost that always followed him like a sticky candy, but he was helpless.
When he heard Jon and the others chanting, he made up his mind and jumped out of the second-floor window!
He didn't have time to cast cushioning magic on the ground, so he could only use his legs to bear the inertia of his falling body. His lower body felt numb, but he didn't dare to stay there for a moment. He turned around and ran towards the castle in the middle of the island.
Those Dementors that he used to hate so much have now become his only life-saving talismans. As long as he can still enter the castle, he can continue to deal with John and the others, waiting for the Ministry of Magic to receive the news and come to support him.
The speed of floating is much faster than that of running. Nick followed Scabio all the time and kept disturbing his mind with some nonsense.
"Hey, surrender, man. We have recaptured Britain. The Dark Lord is finished. If you surrender now, you might be able to save your life. Sir Nicholas never lies, really."
