Volume 4: Spacetime Singularity Chapter 12 Tears
Ning Yu'an closed her eyes tightly and curled up against the wall. The howling and tearing and collision sounds in her ears continued to grow louder as time went by. The smell of blood and the odor molecules of metal and dust mixed together, violently stimulating her olfactory receptors.
The only reason she closed her eyes was that she didn't want to have to take in another sense of the tragedy before her eyes. She didn't want to see the broken and twisted building structure, the still collapsing concrete fragments, the squeezed and deformed human bodies, and the sticky blood flowing on the floor.
Now she could clearly feel the sticky touch of her shoes on the ground, which meant that the blood had flowed to her feet. Although she had been forcing her brain to ignore the smell of blood, she had hypnotized herself into thinking that what was stuck on her shoes was spilled Coke.
She didn't know how long it had been, but she felt the pressure and collision on her arms gradually decreasing, and the various noises made by the crowd gradually subsided, as if order had been restored in the subway station.
Of course there is another possibility, that is, the person is almost dead.
Ning Yu'an still didn't dare to open her eyes. She had basically covered her eyes the whole time when watching horror movies before. She could sense that the scene before her was much scarier than in horror movies.
I will wait until someone comes to talk to me before I open my eyes. At least then the first person who appears in front of me will be alive.
Her intuition and her experience as a biology student told her that this subway station was definitely not a good place to stay for long. If the bodies of the victims were not cleaned up in time, the hot and humid climate in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in summer would turn this place into an excellent breeding ground for bacteria. Not to mention the problem of infectious diseases, the pungent smell produced by the decomposition alone would be enough to drive everyone out.
Even so, underground space is still safer than above ground. The prosperous city on the surface has now turned into a sea of fire, and at this moment the concentration of toxic gases is even higher than in underground space.
Ning Yu'an leaned against the wall with her back tightly, feeling the dull sound of the ground. Each clanging sound was accompanied by shaking and the collapse of concrete. Her hair should be covered with broken dirt by now.
"Comrade? Comrade, are you still awake? Can you open your eyes now?"
A light touch suddenly came from my shoulder.
"Little girl? If you are still conscious, please give me some reaction? Can you hear me now?"
Ning Yu'an opened his eyes and saw a burly middle-aged man wearing a 07-style camouflage uniform in front of him.
"Oh, great, can you still walk?"
Ning Yu'an moved her throat but couldn't speak. She coughed twice and finally squeezed out a few hoarse words.
"I... I'm not injured, I can still walk..."
"That's great. We need to move to another shelter now. If you can still walk, follow the main group. There's no time to waste."
Ning Yu'an followed the direction of his outstretched finger and saw the moving team. Its movement speed was much slower than when it was moving downwards on the surface.
Although she really didn't want to see the scene around her, she still couldn't avoid discovering that the ceiling had bulged downwards a lot, with wires and various pipes stretching out to the ground, and anyone passing under it had to duck their heads to avoid it.
The soldier who had just spoken to Ning Yu'an saw that she was not seriously injured, nodded at her, and then went elsewhere to look for other survivors.
As Ning Yu'an walked forward, she clearly felt that her legs had gone completely limp. She staggered and almost fell.
At this moment, the noise and vibration around her continued, and she tried to lower her center of gravity and move forward with the flow of people. Now the team was passing through the narrow gap between the platform and the pillars.
Ning Yu'an glanced at the railroad tracks below the platform. The surface of the railroad tracks was covered with many stacked human-shaped black shadows.
She felt a strong discomfort in her stomach and acid rushed up her esophagus to her throat. She stuck her head outside the platform and dry-heaved a few times, but nothing came out.
After all, I haven't eaten anything since morning and haven't even drunk a few sips of water, so there's nothing to vomit at all.
Suddenly, a loud noise came from the ground, and the surrounding ground began to shake violently.
Ning Yu'an's center of gravity was already unstable with her head stretched to one side. The shaking caused her feet to suddenly slip and she fell down the platform.
At that moment her mind went blank and the only thing she could do was close her eyes again.
The strange thing was that the moment her feet were off the air, the feeling of weightlessness disappeared, as if her back was resting on something that was not very hard.
So disgusting, it can’t be a corpse.
Only then did she realize that the pungent smell around her and all the noises in her ears suddenly disappeared, and the world became silent again.
There seemed to be something reassuring in the air.
She opened her eyes and saw a familiar head in front of her.
“Ahhhhhh??”
Fang Cheng was startled by the sudden scream and his body trembled.
"What are you doing all of a sudden? You scared me to death..."
The person in his arms ignored his words and just stared at his face with wide eyes.
"Are you okay...are you hurt?"
In fact, he had just done a quick check while time was still standing still, and there seemed to be no wounds.
The inspection is done with clothes on.
Ning Yu'an still didn't say anything, but a few drops of water slid down her eyes. This made Fang Cheng feel a little embarrassed.
"You... say something, can you still speak..."
"Is this... the underworld? Are you here to pick me up?"
Fang Cheng had never heard this sound from her before. The tone felt like a normal sound being rubbed against frosted glass.
"No, no, of course it's the world of the living. We are all alive here, don't be afraid."
Although this reaction was a little funny, it was understandable. Fang Cheng couldn't imagine what Ning Yu'an had been through before he pulled her out of that other world.
He saw that the intermittent tears in the girl An's eyes suddenly turned into a continuous waterfall, followed by a hoarse voice bursting out of her throat.
Fang Cheng had heard her cry several times before. A few times were because she was bullied at school, and another time was because she cheated after losing a game. The most memorable time was when she lost an argument with him when they were children and complained to her parents. She cried so passionately.
But the sound was completely different from the current one. Fang Cheng guessed that maybe she was crying just to be spoiled, but today she was really overwhelmed. His arms were scratched so hard that they hurt, and his shirt was gradually soaked, and it was a bit uncomfortable to lie on his body.
According to past experience, she would cry for a maximum of five minutes, but this time, she didn't know how long she would cry.
