Volume 3: My days in a college fraternity Chapter 120 On the Necessity of Young Men Learning the Popular Dance Steps

In a nine-bedroom holiday villa in the San Francisco Bay Area, Tommy put on a white sequined suit and a top hat, looking like the host of an entertainment show. The sequins on his body sparkled under the laser lights around the villa. He walked to the second-floor guardrail with a microphone and spoke condescendingly to the twenty or so Stanford alumni in the lobby on the first floor:
"Good evening, gentlemen. Welcome to the Fucking Party hosted by Tommy Hawke tonight ! Before the party starts, please allow me to introduce each other. Tonight, there are two Stanford Vitality Organizations here. The first one to be introduced is of course SSD! A group of Stanford elites whose brains only have bellicosity and sperm! I am fortunate to be one of them. The one who is raising his hands now is the SSD leader who brings together us Stanford maggots, Charles~~~~~~~~~~~~Salmon!"
Charles turned around and was greeted by the cheers of the crowd.
"The other group is a bunch of old guys. They are all graduate students. They are a group of lawyers who only play with the Constitution and tits! The White Shoes Society of Stanford Law School! It seems that these new friends don't know me well enough. They even wear clothes to attend my party." Tommy teased, and then pointed at one of them and introduced him:
"The guy with black hair who looks like the illegitimate son of Italian movie star Dana Andrews is the chairman of the White Shoes Society, my fellow Italian! Matt--Brolin!"
Matt, the president of the Law School's White Shoes Society, gave Tommy the middle finger, then smiled and waved his hand to signal to everyone, and shook hands with Charles.
"I feel sad that Stanford University has taught you two such hypocritical scums of handshakes and greetings. I swear that when the party starts, you will definitely forget the word friendship and only want to defeat each other!" Tommy held the microphone and looked at the crowd below:
"Let me explain what tonight is all about. The party is divided into four stages. The first three stages are two hours each. The theme of the first stage is: The necessity for young men to learn popular dance steps. The theme of the second stage is: Group discussion on the principle of male charm radiance. The theme of the third stage is: Verification experiment on the aggressive creatures like humans."
"What's the fourth stage?" A member of the White Shoes Society waited for a long time and found that Tommy didn't mention the fourth stage, so he asked curiously.
Tommy shrugged. "This gentleman told us what happens when we don't pay attention! I said in the first sentence, this is Tommy Hawke's Fucking Party. What else can the theme of the fourth stage be other than Fucking? Teacher Tommy will deduct your party credits. Son, you have to work harder and try to catch up as soon as possible before the fourth stage starts. Otherwise, if your grades are too bad, you will be kicked out of the party."
When the group heard Tommy's explanation, they all burst into laughter.
"Then why the hell is the first stage called On the Necessity of Young Men Learning Popular Dance Steps?" Ted asked unhappily, wearing a cowboy hat. "Talk like a human being, Tommy!"
"You'll understand soon enough, stupid Ted!" Tommy snapped his fingers and the laser light ball in the hall suddenly flashed. Popular disco music sounded from the speakers. A dozen ladies dressed in ordinary clothes, like girls next door but with pretty faces, came in one after another. They treated the hall as a dance hall and danced gently to the music. From time to time, they responded to the Stanford students who had not yet come to their senses with an encouraging look, motioning them to come forward and dance with them.
It was not until this time that these guys understood what Tommy said. If they didn't know how to dance, they would have no chance to chat up these girls. Moreover, there were only a dozen girls, but the two fraternities together had twenty-six or twenty-seven people, which meant that ten boys couldn't find dance partners and could only drink alone.
Some boys with quick reactions quickly came off the stage, found their favorite dance partners, and started dancing to the music. The villa hall suddenly turned into a dance floor filled with flashing lights and dynamic rhythms.
Tommy threw his hat into the hall below and turned to walk towards the stairs. Sophia came out from the dimly lit corner next to him and said, "You asked me to introduce Matt to you, but you didn't say you were going to have a social party, and... it seems like the kind of party that... doesn't respect women very much."
"What if Matt and I sit face to face and have a boring conversation like I did with Delia?" Tommy glanced at Sophia.
"Don't be ridiculous, Sophia. Matt definitely doesn't want a meeting like that. They are young college students. They don't have family worries, they don't have to worry about the future, and they don't care about financial pressure. The only thing they want to do is to have some fun in their boring studies. Alcohol, music, girls, what could be more important than these?"
"But you're not actually interested in these, right? You could have just..." Sophia said in a firm tone beside her.
"Not interested? I don't know how much I envy them. I want to forget how mature, smart, and rational I am. I want to be like these happy young men, carefree, with only the girl in front of me in my eyes, and the only thing in my mind is to coax her with sweet words so that she can spend a good night with me. That atmosphere fascinates me." Tommy looked at the men and women dancing downstairs with envy:
"Their lives are still undecided, but I've been destined to be a jerk since I came into this world. I'm not interested? I envy them to death. I may be the only one in the world who knows how happy it is to be a carefree idiot."
Noticing the envious look in Tommy's eyes, Sophia realized that this guy was younger than her.
But having known Tommy Hawke for such a long time, his thoughts and actions made Sophia always subconsciously regard Tommy as a mature and cold-blooded middle-aged man. It was not until now that Tommy's unconcealable envious eyes and tone made Sophia understand that this guy actually had emotions in his body.
"Want to dance?" Sophia hesitated for a few seconds and asked Tommy with a smile, "I haven't danced at a party for a long time."
Seeing the happy men and women below, Sophia suddenly remembered that ever since she started working for this guy part-time, she has missed a lot of opportunities that should have been used to relax and have fun.
"No." Tommy rejected Sophia's suggestion decisively and motioned Sophia to look at the stairs.
Following Tommy's gaze, Sophia saw Matt, the president of the White Shoes Society, walking up the stairs accompanied by Charles, apparently coming to meet Tommy.
"Stand still, Matt!" Tommy suddenly shouted to the two people who were going upstairs.
The two who were going upstairs were stunned and looked at Tommy at the stairs in confusion. Tommy smiled and said, "You are not gay, right? There are so many girls down there, why do you have to chase after me instead of dancing?"
"Have you seen it? This guy is the new generation of SSD bastard." Charles patted Matt's shoulder and said from the side.
Matt nodded and smiled at Tommy. "When Sophia told me about you, she didn't mention that you were so interesting. Tommy, you better pray that I'm not, otherwise you'll be in trouble."
"Don't worry about not being able to get the girl. I have plans. Come on, the three of us will go to the quiet terrace on the rooftop, admire the moonlight, have a few strong drinks, and talk about cooperation." Tommy waited for Matt to come up, shook hands with him vigorously, and then gave him an Italian hug.
Matt looked at Sophia, then at Tommy: "Arrangements? Sophia?"
"No, no, no, don't get me wrong~" Seeing Matt's puzzled look, Tommy slowed down his speech and said in a more serious tone:
"Sophia is not in your plan. Although she is not very smart and has a mediocre figure, she is mine. I have other plans for you."
"When it comes to parties, you can always trust that bastard Tommy. Come on, Matt." Charles took Matt towards the terrace.
Tommy turned around and told Sophia, who had a strange expression on her face, "I told Eric that he will be my temporary host tonight. He won't drink tonight, so if there are any problems on the scene, find him to solve them."
"Hey, so-so? My figure is so-so?" Sophia said unhappily behind him as she saw Tommy walking straight towards the terrace.
"Don't thank me for not telling others that your chest can take off and land strategic bombers." Tommy walked without stopping, even without turning his head, and said calmly:
"If you really want to thank me, you can do what my family in Florida did and donate to Actor to support my great cause. Cash, check or even loan are all welcome."
On the terrace of the villa, Tommy sat on a lounge chair, shaking his wine glass: "Sophia should tell you that my company has encountered some minor troubles."
"She said that Delia Keyes, a partner at Davis Polk, works for you. She's an elite lawyer at an old white-shoe firm and a professional idol in the eyes of us law students." Matt took a sip of his wine and looked at Tommy. "But Sophia didn't say specifically what your trouble is?"
Tommy looked at Charles. Charles smiled, lowered his voice and said a few words in Matt's ear, then gave him an affirmative look.
Matt sat up straight subconsciously and looked at Tommy with an inquiring look. Tommy shrugged his shoulders and said, "It's just what Charles said."
"After hearing this news, I think we old guys should pay for tonight." Matt smiled to Tommy:
"Let me tell you what to do next. The alumni directory of the Stanford chapter of the White Shoes Society and the list of visiting professors at Stanford Law School who are qualified to practice law will appear in your company on time tomorrow evening. For a girl of Sophia's caliber, you should be kind and let her go home, because along with the list will be two male elites from the White Shoes Society. They will be your assistants starting tomorrow. You can tell them to do anything, but their main job is to help you select the right candidates. When you are confused, they will be the first to introduce you to the detailed information about those people."
Tommy raised his glass and clinked it with Matt's. "I like the Stanford family better than Delia. This attitude warms my heart. But I won't let Sophia go home. I like having a law girl around me to give me a sense of security. Besides, I'm curious about the cost."
"If I find out after I contact the lawyers you picked from the list that they don't want to work for free, the White Shoe Society can use the fraternity funds to help you convince them." Matt drank the tequila in the glass, put a slice of lemon in his mouth to digest the strong smell of alcohol, and said to Tommy.
Tommy nodded affirmatively, cigarette in hand. "I just said that I was touched by your warm words, Matt. You need to act more generously, like a big shot in the law school, not a petty woman like Delia Keyes. She is a bad role model."
"You don't fucking want us to pay you money and then help you fight this lawsuit?" Matt frowned slightly:
"You'd better change your mindset. If that's the case, your behavior can no longer be called greed, but chronic suicide, Tommy."
Charles was toasting his cigar over the fire and said, "Don't get excited, Matt. Tommy is not stupid."
"Yes, I am a jerk, but I won't do this to my brothers from Stanford." Tommy put down his glass, toasted a cigar with Charles, and said to Matt:
"What I mean is that you should be generous and show kindness to the world. For example, there are dozens of small studios that have been shut down by Lotus. I think you should think of ways to extend a hand of friendship and find some free lawyers who are not so well-known but also want to participate to help them recall the details of the feud with Lotus and find any clues that can be dug out to make Lotus anxious."
"Of course~" Matt took the cigar Charles handed over and put it in his mouth. He said as a matter of course: "Our alumni of the White Shoes Society are purer than your SSD. All alumni are either lawyers who challenge the darkness of the judiciary, or judges who uphold judicial justice, or are on the way to becoming these two. In short, they are all good people who are full of justice and are willing to show kindness to the world."
"I like smart people, especially smart men." Tommy said to Matt, "It can save a lot of time."
"This is not a difficult question, Tommy. We may be divided into many fraternities and various organizations, but in the eyes of outsiders, Stanford people are one family. When we talk to outsiders, we should not explain in detail that you are from the White Robe Society and I am from the White Shoes Society, and the differences between us." Matt exhaled a puff of light blue smoke:
"Instead, we should tell the whole of America that even if God descends on Boston, it cannot stop Stanford alumni from uniting and helping our dear junior Tommy defeat Lotus. This is the result of rashly sending a lawyer's letter to Stanford people."
"You just said that White Shoes Club will pay for tonight's consumption, right? That means I can send you the bill for tonight's consumption." Tommy suddenly said.
Matt cursed and said to Tommy, "You really know when to say something to ruin the mood, Tommy."
"Yeah, Tommy is very good at this kind of thing." Charles said with a smile.
"I just think that what you said just now was too sensational. You are a prepared lawyer. I am afraid that after that, you will start brainwashing me and make me pay for it when I get excited." Tommy said to Matt, "Because I often do this to Sophia."
"I feel sorry for having a girl like Sophia in the law school." Matt exhaled and said depressedly.
Tommy stood up from the recliner. "Now that we have finished discussing all the important matters, what else can we do tonight? Of course, we should enjoy the party. So, are you two ready to have a fight or even a shouting match tonight?"
"I don't believe it." Matt said with a smile: "Law students can remain rational even when they are drunk."
Charles looked at Tommy and said, "Teach these self-proclaimed sane law school assholes a lesson, Tommy. Show them how SSD parties are. If you screw up, I guarantee that none of the 20,000 living SSD alumni will ever see a word from you."
"If I were you, Matt, I would run away quietly now to avoid embarrassment." Tommy drank the wine in his glass. "You know nothing about parties."
