Volume 3: A Tombstone Stained with Sin and Blood Chapter 123 Dementor's Kiss
Dumbledore took Jon with him onto the Knight Bus.
There were not many people on the bus. On the first floor, there was only a wizard with black curly hair lying on the bed with a tired look on his face. It was unclear whether he was asleep or just resting with his eyes closed.
"If we want to go to France, where do we need to go first, Mr. Plan?"
Dumbledore skillfully took out two wet towels from a cabinet behind the driver named Ern Plan, and handed one to Jon to wipe his face while asking.
After restarting the bus, Plan did not directly answer his question, but continued to mutter in that unmotivated voice.
"Two wet towels, one silver Sickle. These will be added to the fare. Also, in order not to cause me any more trouble, if you need anything, you'd better take it out of the cabinet now. A piece of chocolate is three Sickles. The kettle and toothbrush are a set, and you need to pay an extra Sickle for the set."
He mumbled a lot about the prices on the bus before finally answering Dumbledore's question.
"Because the Ministry of Magic is very strict about exit control, I can only send to the Floo Network Management Branch in Wales. There you will need to provide your identity proof and fill out a form. Once approved, you can use the transnational Floo Network. Also, if you have enough money, remember to prepare a few more Galleons to give to the employees there. This is a hidden rule that can save you a lot of time. Otherwise, regardless of whether you have any problems or not, your exit approval will be stuck for two or three weeks."
Although Plan's attitude was not enthusiastic, his introduction was still comprehensive. He even deliberately lowered his voice when saying the last sentence, but in fact, these are all unspoken rules known to everyone.
The Ministry of Magic under Voldemort's management naturally has nothing to do with the word "integrity". In addition, some departments are composed entirely of new-school pure-blood "upstarts", and taking money to do things is the norm.
Dumbledore listened to him carefully, took out two chocolates from the cupboard, and thanked him at last.
"Thank you for your reminder. Please send the Floo Network Management Branch in Wales."
"Well, gentlemen, you'd better find a place to lie down. Your destination will not be reached until around four this afternoon at the earliest. We need to send the gentleman who is still sleeping to his home in Devonshire first. And Mrs. Vieira upstairs is going to Scotland to quarrel with her estranged husband, so I suggest you don't mess with that lady. She is in a very bad mood right now."
Dumbledore and John looked at each other, thanked Plan again, and then went to the second floor of the bus through the spiral staircase.
There was also only a fat witch leaning on a bed. She seemed to be cursing someone, or rehearsing for an argument that would take place soon, and her mouth kept moving.
And when she saw Dumbledore and Jon coming up, she glared at them with her toad-like eyes.
Dumbledore and John did not stay on the second floor, but continued up to the third floor of the bus.
There was no one here, with four or five empty beds placed separately. They each found a bed to sit on, and after sitting down, Jon picked up a copy of today's newspaper that was originally hanging on the wall.
In this Prophet Daily, he saw the first report at a glance.
[Antonin Dolohov was executed on the island of Azkaban yesterday evening]
Jon didn't read any further, but when he saw the headline of the news, his eyes widened.
"Dolohov is dead?"
He looked at Dumbledore in disbelief and asked in a low voice.
Dumbledore was unwrapping a piece of chocolate he had taken from the cupboard. When he heard John's question, he nodded as if he had received the message earlier.
"He's not dead. Three days ago, a reporter from the Daily Prophet said that he was found guilty in the Wizengamot court. In court, Dolohov questioned what he had done wrong. It was his master who personally convicted him of the crime of incompetence."
"So the Dark Lord planned to kill him, and did so?"
Jon didn't feel sorry for Dolohov's death. He didn't have any good impression of this perverted castle manager at all. The more trouble he got into, the happier Jon should .
But according to his original expectation, even if everything he had done in Hogwarts Castle was discovered and exposed, Dolohov would most likely be severely punished.
But John always felt that even with Voldemort's harshness , he was unlikely to kill his own people just because of this matter. At most, he would directly cancel all his positions and throw him into prison for a few days.
But John ultimately misjudged his understanding of Voldemort, and Dolohov clearly did not survive.
"He was not sentenced to death directly." Dumbledore sat on the bed, eating chocolate and whispered, "The guards on the prison island were very angry because many people escaped from them. Dolohov's final punishment was to be rewarded with a Dementor's kiss."
"The kiss of those monsters will directly suck away the soul of the person being kissed. Although the body may still look alive, it is actually just an empty shell. It can be said to be another kind of death, or even more terrifying than death."
Jon listened quietly to Dumbledore's explanation and also read the report in the newspaper.
Dolohov was completely finished. The bright future he had imagined was indeed very bright, and it would contribute to the cause of feeding the Dementors.
Jon flipped through the news in other sections and gained some understanding of the changes that had taken place in the wizarding world after he and a group of junior students escaped from Hogwarts Castle that day and the prisoners in Azkaban broke out.
The biggest impact on British wizards was that the Dementors were allowed to leave the island of Azkaban and capture escaped prisoners on their own.
This made almost everyone in the wizarding world feel insecure. After all, everyone knew that Dementors were not wizards. They basically did not communicate with humans, and they mainly fed on the positive part of human emotions.
They left the prison and roamed around the wizarding world under the pretext of capturing escaped prisoners, which would definitely have a great impact on the lives of normal wizards.
This is indeed the case. Today is the third day that the Dementors have been allowed to leave the island, and the Daily Prophet has reported seven or eight cases related to these monsters so far.
