Volume 2 The Second Battle Chapter 20: Turkish Brigade (Part 3)

"Get up, get up, wake up...get ready to fight!"
I felt like I had just laid down in the woods for a while when I was woken up. Two hours had passed so quickly. But maybe I won’t have to worry about not having enough time to sleep later! Because I will soon be sleeping in the ground forever…
Just kidding, the Turkish Brigade in front of us were not those puppet troops who could be scared away by a few shots or loud shouts of "kill". In reality, they held out for three days under the attack of an army of volunteers, and in the end, only more than 200 people surrendered.
Although it could not escape the fate of total annihilation in the end, if it were not for them, this army of volunteers would have been able to easily penetrate into the enemy's rear and cut off the enemy's retreat, and the results of the second battle would have been even greater.
As I was thinking about it, I suddenly heard several flashes of light and bursts of motor sounds on the northern highway. I looked carefully and saw a jeep followed by two military vehicles wobbling towards me. The vehicles were full of people. They were deserters from the puppet army.
I glanced at the sleeping position of Captain Chu. Although I couldn't see his expression in the dark, I thought he must look very unhappy. Although the puppet troops were of poor quality, they still knew how to shoot. If we attacked the Turkish Brigade, we would undoubtedly expose our backs to the puppet troops. I don't think we can continue this battle.
The sound of gunfire came from far away, military vehicles drove past us in a hurry, and embarrassed and terrified faces flashed in front of us, but we could only watch them drive towards the Turkish Brigade's position, but at this moment an accident happened.
"Ash! (Turkish: Shoot)" A strange cry suddenly came from the Turkish Brigade's position, followed by a burst of gunfire. Bullets, shells, and grenades smashed the leading jeep to pieces in an instant. The puppet soldiers all jumped out of the car and lay down on the side of the road like stabbed wasps. Their speed was so fast and their coordination was so tacit, just like firefighters who had practiced countless times jumping out of the car and rushing to the fire scene.
I couldn't help but sigh in my heart, if we were to fight with such speed and tacit understanding, we might as well just go back home.
"Search for the machine guns, don't shoot! (Korean: Don't shoot, we are one of you)" the puppet soldiers shouted loudly towards the Turkish brigade's position, but they seemed to pay no attention and continued to fire their machine guns...
They didn't speak the same language, and I soon realized that. It wasn't difficult to find a few people who could speak English to serve as interpreters in the US military, as there were already many people who could speak English. But it was difficult to find a few people who could speak Turkish to serve as interpreters.
In fact, one of the important reasons why the Turkish Brigade was eventually wiped out was that they could not understand the American orders and were unable to cooperate with the US military and became an isolated army.
However, the puppet soldiers were quite smart and quickly hung up the white flag and raised their hands. Although the Turks could not understand what they were saying, they could clearly see that the white flag represented surrender, so the gunfire soon stopped.
I secretly shouted that the opportunity had come, and ran towards the leader without looking back.
"Report to the regiment commander!" I saluted to the regiment commander Chu and said quietly, "Commander, give the order to attack! It will be too late if we are late, but tell the comrades not to fire until all our people are on the enemy's position!"
"What? The enemy will let us take to the battlefield!" After hearing what I said, not only Captain Chu, but everyone lying beside Captain Chu looked at me strangely.
At this time, I could vaguely hear bursts of noise on the road, and I knew that it was the puppet army's infantry following behind.
"No time to explain! Commander!" I said hurriedly, "This trick won't work if we let the puppet troops behind catch up. I'll go first and let the comrades catch up. Comrades, don't talk or rush. Once you all get to the enemy's position, then take action."
The opportunity was fleeting, so without saying much, I grabbed dozens of soldiers from my platoon and ran towards the enemy's position.
"What's wrong with you? Are you looking for death?" Hu Zi asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"Don't talk!" I ordered in a low voice: "Comrades, don't talk, and don't shoot, even if the enemy shoots."
"Yes!" Although the soldiers didn't understand what I was up to, they all obeyed the order silently.
A platoon of dozens of people came out of the woods and onto the road, and the volunteer soldiers behind them followed in groups. Now was the original planned time for the attack, but an additional order was given asking them not to talk or fire, and to wait until they reached the enemy's position before taking action.
At this time, the soldiers must have been muttering in their hearts, how could the enemy be so stupid as to watch us run to their position. However, it was at this time that the quality of the volunteers was reflected. Although they were all confused, they still followed the order of Captain Chu unswervingly and ran towards the enemy's position silently.
"Shedu! (Korean: Hurry up)" I shouted to the team behind me in Korean while running: "Hurry up, hurry up, don't let the Chinese catch up!"
While shouting, he took out the box gun from his waist and waved it in the air, just like a puppet army officer commanding his troops to charge. But then he thought again, the puppet soldiers were all using the M191 1 pistols given by the US military, but none were as big as this box gun, so he hurriedly put the box gun back.
As we approached the battlefield, I clearly heard the sound of bolts being pulled in the darkness ahead. I stopped involuntarily and was shocked: "Damn it, am I going to die because of my own bad idea this time? If the enemy doesn't fall for it and Captain Chu orders the soldiers not to shoot, then our troops will suffer heavy losses and I will be a sinner for all eternity!"
But now that things have come to this, it is too late to regret. I had no choice but to bite the bullet and shout in Korean into the darkness: "We are from the Republic of Korea. Which unit are you from?"
"Souji Masheyo, Souji Masheyo! (Don't shoot, don't shoot!)"
At this time, the voice I hoped to hear finally rang out from the enemy camp. Dozens of puppet soldiers who had just been captured kept shouting in Korean to the Turks: "Don't shoot, they are our people, our own people!"
Some puppet soldiers were even afraid that the Turks would not understand them, so they used all the body language they could to explain to the Turks. Suddenly, all kinds of different noises were heard in front of them. Finally, they seemed to have reached a consensus. One puppet soldier excitedly shouted to us, "Come up, they know you are their people."
