Volume 2: The crown and the hat are all over the capital, and the spirit is full of energy and enter the foggy city Chapter 148: Xirui Sutra
Subtitle of this chapter: One Yuan Yanshu = 100 Schindler
"For the archaeological community, 1922 is a very strange year because the two most important and mysterious archaeological discoveries of the 20th century occurred in this year.
These two major discoveries were Tutankhamun's tomb and the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Tutankhamun was a pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. He died at the age of 19. However, his short life left behind a treasure that astonished the world.
On November 5, 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter finally found the entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb.
This entrance was actually dug at the bottom of the cliff, below the tomb of another famous pharaoh, Ramses VI. After Carter's collaborator Carnarvon arrived, they opened two doors in succession, and countless rare treasures almost suffocated .
On February 17 of the following year, the third door was discovered, and here they opened Tutankhamun's magnificent coffin. It was also here that Carter discovered a clay tablet. A few days later, the inscription on the tablet was translated: "Whoever disturbs the peace of this pharaoh, the wings of death will descend upon him."
From then on, Tutankhamun's curse seemed to spread from the shadows of ancient times...
In just six years, more than 20 people who participated in or watched the excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb died inexplicably. People called "Tutankhamun's Curse."
But compared to the Pharaoh's Curse, there is an even stranger, more terrifying, and more inexplicable item in the Dead Sea Scrolls that also saw the light of day in , and that is the "Book of the Purple Skull"!
At the end of 1921, the World Zionist Federation and the British Zionist Union jointly organized an experienced archaeological team. The main investor was Lord Walter Rothschild, and the person who promoted and presided over this archaeological operation was Chaim Weizmann.
Albert Einstein was also said to be interested, but he did not go along due to health problems.
In March 1922, this archaeological team composed entirely of Jewish archaeologists and religious figures arrived at the Kiber-Qumran wilderness near the Dead Sea and soon discovered a large number of cultural relics in the caves in the nearby hills.
In addition, on a desolate plateau between the mountains and the Dead Sea, the archaeological team discovered the remains of a 6,000-square-meter building complex. The main structure consists of a nearly 1,000-square-meter building with a pulpit, tables, and benches. This was clearly a place for collective religious activities and dining.
Archaeologists also found gold, silver, spices and scrolls hidden in caves and ruins.
These scrolls are naturally of paramount importance, and the archaeological team named them the "Dead Sea Scrolls" after the place where they were discovered. Given their research value, they are truly worthy of the title of "the greatest archaeological discovery since the Renaissance."
Most of the Dead Sea Scrolls are wrapped in linen rolls and placed in sealed pottery jars more than half a meter high. In addition, the local climate remains dry all year round and is rarely visited by people, so it has not been destroyed by humans. Therefore, these priceless cultural relics have been preserved very well.
Tens of thousands of volumes of various ancient documents were discovered in caves and ruins, which is a huge amount.
These ancient scrolls were written in Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin on parchment and papyrus, and a few on metal plates. Only a dozen or so are relatively complete, while the others are mostly fragments, many of which are just fragments.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are very rich in content, including not only Jewish scriptures but also a large number of historical documents.
However, the history told in these historical documents is quite strange and contradictory.
For example, the Essenes' accounts of their own history are inconsistent in different documents.
Some of this information aligns with existing historical records. The Essenes were a religious sect within ancient Judaism that adhered strictly to religious law. This tribe was primarily composed of farmers and herders from low economic status. They suffered oppression from those in power and, dissatisfied with their current situation, retreated in large groups to remote mountainous areas.
Another group is quite confusing. They claim to be members of the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh's priesthood, following the high priest Moses out of Egypt to Canaan in order to establish a kingdom free from "foreign objects." Their seclusion here is partly to avoid being hunted by the Egyptian priests, and partly to guard a "foreign object."
After studying these contradictory documents, modern archaeologists and historians believe that the Essenes must have been of two kinds, or rather, two classes: the upper class were descendants of ancient Egyptian priests, and the lower class were farmers and herders who followed these priests. However, the upper class of the Essenes kept this secret from the lower class.
This conclusion has already overturned past records and the Bible.
According to the Dead Sea Scrolls, Moses was an ancient Egyptian priest who, for some reason, broke away from the priesthood and came to Canaan with his students and subordinates. Judaism itself was actually a large-scale social experiment, and this experiment was not very successful.
The above is not the most controversial part of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The Dead Sea Scrolls actually refer to Jesus as an "alien creature," meaning that these creatures were humans influenced by some evil deity called the "Old Ones," if they could still be called humans. This is why the ancient Jews wanted to get rid of Jesus as soon as possible.
And he wasn't the only "alien" in history; such monsters seem to have existed in ancient times. The ancient Egyptian priest group that Moses belonged to was established to eliminate aliens.
This discovery may be a good thing for historians.
But for the Abrahamic religions, the Dead Sea Scrolls were a death knell, and thus disproving the Dead Sea Scrolls became one of the biggest undertakings of religious figures in the 20th century.
What most shocked human's inherent ideas was that the archaeological team actually found what the Essenes called "alien objects", the "Book of the Purple Skull" in the ruins.
This is a parchment scroll sealed in an exquisite pottery jar. Because there is a pattern of a purple jawless skull on the pottery jar, it is called the "Book of the Purple Skull".
According to archaeological logs, the Book of the Purple Skull was discovered on April 14, 1922.
That night, terror and death descended upon the archaeological camp...
No one knew what happened that night. The next day, people who went to deliver food and supplies found that the entire camp was a river of blood and filled with miserable corpses. Hundreds of people died overnight.
They immediately notified the British colonial army. When they arrived, the soldiers were so horrified by the horrific scene that they dared not enter. The commander had no choice but to cordon off the area, using the excuse of waiting for investigators and searching for suspects, and then searched the surrounding area.
They actually found a dying archaeologist in a cave not far away.
His eyes were gouged out alive, and his legs were broken. But judging by the injuries and blood, he actually dug out his eyes himself, and he also crawled all the way here from the camp.
When the army found him, the dying man was mumbling incomprehensible words over and over again: "Cyric," "Purple Skull," and "Don't read that book."
Unfortunately, before he could tell the truth, he died from excessive blood loss and exhaustion.
The British commander did not dare to delay and immediately informed his superiors and issued a gag order. However, there were too many witnesses and the news leaked out immediately, causing a major riot that affected the entire area.
The local Bedouins believed that the archaeological team had unearthed a "mountain demon" and moved to other places with their families. Some Bedouin nobles even demanded that the British colonial government destroy the camp immediately.
However, the colonial government at the time firmly believed that the massacre was committed by a Bedouin gang, and not only detained many locals but also imposed a curfew on Jerusalem. These reckless measures exacerbated the local tension.
The news quickly reached London, and Weizmann and Rothschild immediately organized a second archaeological team, this time led by Weizmann himself.
However, what is puzzling is that there is evidence showing that at this time Weizmann had frequent telegraphic contact with Mr. Yuan Yanshu, who was far away in Asia.
There's a theory that the true discoverer of the Dead Sea camp was Mr. Yuan. While studying for his doctorate in New York, he accidentally bought several pieces of parchment inscribed with ancient ciphers in an antique shop. Because no one could decipher them, they were sold for a very low price.
As we all know, Mr. Yuan has profound attainments in linguistics, especially ancient languages, and has made outstanding contributions to the interpretation of Chinese oracle bone inscriptions, Sumerian cuneiform, ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, and other archaeological works.
So he spent several years to finally decipher the coded file and found that it was actually a treasure map.
By chance, Yuan Yanshu met Albert Einstein and Chaim Weizmann in Washington, D.C., so he gave the treasure map as a gift to these two Jewish scientists who were enthusiastic about the Zionist movement.
The two Jews believed this firmly. After returning to his country, Weizmann contacted his Jewish compatriots and facilitated this archaeological mission.
So Weizmann contacted him to discuss the contents of the parchment.
However, there is a more "magical" theory that Mr. Yuan Yanshu has long known that there is a "foreign object" like the "Book of the Purple Skull" because he himself is a modern member of that ancient Egyptian priest group.
According to American "Yuan scholar" Mr. Danny Brown, Mr. Yuan is an important figure in a mysterious organization called the SCP Foundation.
And this foundation has always appeared in different guises throughout history.
In ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire, they were priestly groups. In the Middle Ages, they participated in the Inquisition. During the Renaissance, they established universities. During the Age of Exploration, they formed colonial companies. During the Industrial Revolution, they transformed themselves again, establishing not only consortiums but also non-profit organizations like the SCP Foundation.
At different times in the East, they would also attach themselves to various underground organizations. For example, Mr. Yuan Yanshu was the leader of the Hongmen.
Therefore, this archaeological excavation was actually commissioned by Mr. Yuan to Weizmann and others.
Regardless of which version is true, we now know that Mr. Yuan’s friend and partner, Mr. Howard Phillips Lovecraft, also came to the Dead Sea and joined the second archaeological team.
However, the composition of the second archaeological team was quite complicated. In addition to the Zionist organization, the British also got involved. The Anglican Church, the Royal Society of London, the British Museum, Scotland Yard (London Metropolitan Police), and even the British royal family sent their own representatives.
When they arrived in Jerusalem, they found that a cardinal had come from the Vatican and a special envoy had been sent by the US government.
Then archaeologists, journalists, history enthusiasts, idle people, and even spies from various countries flocked to the place.
Fortunately, it was a British colony after all, and after clearing the area by force, they launched an investigation ...
As for how the investigation went, there is no accurate information so far. All we know is that the British transported all the items back to London with the highest security standards and at the fastest speed.
However, the British government was also under great pressure and had to allow scholars from other countries to participate in the translation and interpretation of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
From the beginning to the end, the British denied the existence of the "Book of Purple Skull".
However, after Edward VIII abdicated in 1936, he privately stated that he had read relevant top-secret materials during his time as King of the United Kingdom. The British Museum does have such a super-scientific book that will drive people crazy after reading it, but even he has not seen the real thing.
The impact of this mysterious case is not limited to the archaeological, historical and religious communities; it has had a huge impact on the entire Christian world.
Because according to the Dead Sea Scrolls, Judaism itself was a social experiment conducted by ancient Egyptian priests, while Christianity was created by some "alien object".
If this is the historical truth, then the Abrahamic religions have completely lost their footing.
Incidentally, at the time, an author using the pen name "Antichrist" published numerous anonymous articles and pamphlets, using the contents of the Dead Sea Scrolls to attack Christian churches in various countries. Some scholars now believe that "Antichrist" was one of Yuan Yanshu's pen names.
So does he really have a close relationship with the Dead Sea Scrolls? This is the unsolved mystery among the unsolved mysteries.
This archaeological activity also had a very far-reaching and serious consequence, which was to make more Westerners believe that Jews are an evil race.
The reason is very simple. If the Dead Sea Scrolls are true, then the Jews have deceived the whole world; if the Dead Sea Scrolls are false, then the Jews want to deceive the whole world.
For example, during this period, Hitler gave many speeches, declaring that he would completely and thoroughly drive them out of Europe.
From 1922 onwards, waves of anti-Semitism swept across Europe and the United States, forcing more and more Jews to leave their homes and go to the new State of Israel promised to them by the Balfour Declaration..."
——Excerpt from "Unsolved Mysteries of the 20th Century"
In fact, our Master Yuan's deception really saved the lives of many Jews.
In the original timeline, the Jews who would have been sent to concentration camps were driven to the Middle East early to contribute to the Zionist collective farms. This also greatly increased the population and national strength of the State of Israel, making the later Arabs even more jealous.
Schindler saved the lives of 1,200 Jews, and the number of Jews saved by Yuan Yanshu is at least a hundred times that number!
"Host, you have to be careful. You may save too many Jews in the future..."
"Master Ball, don't worry. If the Jews don't die, then let everyone else die! Otherwise, why would I go to so much trouble to fool Einstein?"
