Volume 2: Knocking on Heaven's Door Chapter 71 Welcome Party

What meets the eye is the blue sky, the green lawn and the tall palm trees. If it were not for the distinctive yellow walls and red tiles of the Stanford University buildings standing in front of his sight, and the parents and freshmen passing by from time to time reminding him that he is in college, Tommy Hawke would feel like he is on vacation on a tropical island.
"Remember to tell Tony that the car he gave me lost power when it arrived in Glendale, Los Angeles. A kind-hearted student's parent towed it to Stanford for me. He needs to continue to improve his car repair skills." Tommy Hawkley was talking to his father in front of the phone booth:
"Where is my roommate from? I live in the dormitory assigned to me by the school, not in a brothel. Dad, that's it. I'm going to start my serious study life. I'll call you when I have time. I love you guys."
After hanging up the phone, Tommy carried his suitcase and walked towards the Hope student apartment behind him. According to the guidance teacher, he lived in the E-66 dormitory, a double room. His roommate was Jason White, who had already reported in and was the first freshman to arrive.
It seemed that most of the freshmen in HPE Apartment had not arrived yet, and there were not many students coming in and out. Tommy walked to the door of his dormitory according to the house number and opened the door with the key he received.
Then I saw a tall white young man with his back to me, his pants taken off, doing rapid five-finger exercises on a magazine or picture spread out on the desk.
Hearing the door open, the young man turned his head to look at Tommy and said in an intimate tone: "Tommy Hawke ? I'm Jason, Jason White, Greenville, Mississippi."
Although he greeted Tommy affectionately, he had no intention of stopping.
"Hello, roommate, I'm Tommy Hawke from Warwick, Rhode Island. To be honest, I didn't expect to be so honest with you so soon." Tommy pushed the suitcase towards his bed and said with a smile.
“Ah~ah~ah~” Jason finished his action and then tore off a few tissues to clean up the scene: “Things are not as you think. I am just preparing for the fraternity to recruit new members.”
Tommy took out a cigarette box and handed it to the other person. Jason took it without hesitation and put it in his mouth skillfully.
"I've never heard of freshmen having to empty their tadpoles themselves when recruiting into a fraternity, but I have heard of many freshmen fantasizing about losing their virginity at the party on recruiting night." Tommy lit a cigarette and said with a smile.
"First generation college student?" Jason looked at Tommy and laughed when he heard Tommy's words.
Tommy nodded. "Is it that obvious?"
"Of course, I am the third Stanford student in the White family. Before me, an uncle and a cousin studied here and joined a fraternity. One time, my cousin leaked his experience during the probation period. He should have kept it a secret, but he accidentally said it when he was drunk. So I know some secrets, such as that when you join a fraternity, you will be required to complete five tadpole launches in ten minutes." Jason sat back on his bed and pointed to the nude magazine on the desk: "So, do you want me to lend you a magazine so that you can practice in advance?"
Tommy turned around and opened his backpack, took out a bottle of vodka and threw it to Jason: "I think it's more reliable to exercise your drinking capacity than to shoot your dick until it smokes. If you drink two glasses, you will pass out, but you won't be favored by girls at parties."
"You got some alcohol? That's damn cool! Freshmen get alcohol right here on campus?" Jason looked at the vodka in his hand in surprise and said, "It looks like this bottle of alcohol makes the status of E-66 dormitory clear at a glance. You are the boss."
Tommy sat on the bed and smiled, "I bought it when I passed through Nevada. You can buy alcohol there when you are 18 years old. I drove here to report, so I bought some along the way."
"Wow." Jason stood up and walked to the desk, picked up the globe on it, and looked at the map of the United States. "You drove all the way from the East Coast to here, across the United States?"
"Yes." Tommy finished tidying up the bed and lazily fell on it. "As roommates, I think a sincere conversation should start on the first day. In this way, if we find that our interests and hobbies are not compatible, we can change roommates in advance to avoid being unhappy with each other."
"This is a good suggestion. The purpose of coming to university is, of course, to study, but... this is so damn hypocritical. Okay, it's mainly because of the hot girls. I didn't come to California to study for the California hot girls. Am I going to die alone in the palace of knowledge?" Jason wanted to pretend to be serious, but he quickly gave up and said frankly.
Tommy Hawke nodded: "Very good, I am also doing this for women."
"Is your weekly goal also to sleep with more than five girls?" Jason put down the globe, walked over to his bed and lay down and asked.
Tommy turned his head to look at his roommate and smiled, "Almost the same. He smokes and drinks after studying, but he doesn't touch marijuana or drugs."
"Great, this shows that our interests and goals are exactly the same. I have no problem with that. As long as you don't insist on changing roommates because of my five-finger exercise just now, I think we can become great friends." Jason said, holding the vodka in his hand: "Do you want me to take you to the library and flea market to buy some textbooks? And give you some of my exclusive secrets? For example, which courses are easy to pass? This is information that ordinary freshmen will never get."
Tommy nodded. "Of course. In exchange, I can tell you something I heard. My advisor said that the department will hold several welcome parties during the first week of the semester. There happens to be one tonight. Do you want to go and experience an adult party? I heard that Stanford University's parties are famous for being exciting."
Hearing Tommy mention the adult party, Jason smiled and said, "Of course, let's go, we'll help you with your textbooks first, and then we'll go see the adult world tonight, Boss."
7pm, Stanford University, Department of Computer Science.
"Is this the fucking adult party you mentioned? Roommate?" Jason shaved off his beard for the party, combed his hair with a comb and wax, put on a suit, and looked at the party with a dull expression while holding a bottle of vodka. He asked Tommy, who was also a little dazed, "Are you sure you didn't take me to the wrong venue?"
In the venue in front of the two people, there were indeed dozens of college students gathered and decorated with colorful welcome balloons. Above the venue hung a large banner with the words "WELCOME YOU" and the logo of the Computer Science Department, reminding all visitors that this was indeed the venue for the welcome party.
A group of nerdy-looking men and women were playing a brick-breaking competition in front of the computers placed on the scene. People cheered from time to time. There was also a separate robot battle arena next to them. Two groups of people were controlling their robots to fight each other on the field. Various free juices and snacks were placed next to them.
Jason turned his head and looked at Tommy. "I now suspect that our interests and goals are not only inconsistent, but even our comprehension abilities are completely different. Are you sure this is called hi? To be honest, I'm already considering asking for a change of roommates and suggesting that the teacher send you to the Stanford University Center for the Mentally Retarded."
"I just heard it was high, but apparently the high the instructor was talking about was not the high I thought it was." Tommy said weakly, "I'm a victim too, Jason."
Jason nodded. "Okay, let's agree on the definition of an adult party. First, girls wearing cool clothes."
"Secondly, there's unlimited supply of drinks," Tommy said.
Jason said gloomily, "Great, I'm glad that we both still have the original intention of going to college. What should we do next? From what I understand, the recruitment parties of major fraternities will not be held until all freshmen have completed their registration. It seems that the only option left is for the two of us to go back to the dormitory and drink this bottle of wine."
"The weekend of the first week of school is when those fraternities hold recruitment activities. It's only Monday now, which means we have five days to have some fun." Tommy thought for a moment and said to Jason.
Jason looked from Tommy to himself. "What kind of fun? We go back to the dorms and read magazines, and then spend four days filling this bottle? Apparently, this is the kind of thing that happens at the school's welcome parties. Don't expect anything more."
"You know a lot about fraternities at Stanford University?" Tommy looked at Jason.
Jason nodded. "Of course, I know all the seventeen fraternities and thirteen sororities, but I have to state in advance that I don't know about the activities of those societies that are kept secret from non-members."
"Very good. You will compile the secret information you have into a freshman handbook, and I will sell it to freshmen who are preparing to join the fraternity. Then, we will use the money we earn to invite girls to attend adult parties with us." Tommy turned and walked out of the venue.
"We may not be the two with the best academic performance among the freshmen, but we are definitely the two who attract the most beautiful girls first among the freshmen."
