Volume 2 Cold Dew Chapter 23 Chestnut

Jiang You and Chen Nan walked to the Cultural Street while chatting.
The air was filled with the aroma of sugar-roasted chestnuts.
"Take a bag back?" Jiang You asked.
"Okay."
They walked to the front of the store and stood at the end of the line.
"He is my biological brother, but he was schemed against like this."
"Aunt Zhang?"
"yes."
"If they really don't come back, this might be the last time we see each other."
Chen Nan was stunned, then she sighed, "After hearing what you said..."
"Two servings?" asked the guy roasting chestnuts.
"Yes, two."
The young man weighed two bags of chestnuts and handed them to Jiang You.
He gave a bag to Chen Nan.
They continued walking forward. Jiang You took out a chestnut and let it go. The chestnut rolled into the bag. He rubbed his fingers and said, "It's hot."
“Let it cool before eating.”
When she arrived at Guanghe Bookstore, Chen Nan was about to push the door open when she heard Jiang You say, "By the way, I'm going to officially start losing weight next week. When you go to the gym, remember to bring me along."
"I'm just afraid I can't call you."
"This time it's true. I've been feeling chest tightness lately. I guess it's because I'm fat."
"Go to the hospital for a checkup?"
Jiang You touched his chest and said, "I just had a physical examination in May, so there shouldn't be any major problems. I need to lose weight to at least 70 kilograms to be healthier."
He walked back to the insect house and lay down on the soft chair with the sugar-roasted chestnuts in his hand. He watched Jiujiu jumping around in the cage. He peeled a chestnut and threw it towards the cage. The cage door opened, and Jiujiu jumped out, flew up, grabbed the chestnut in one bite, then flew to Jiang You's feet, put down the chestnut, and pecked at it in small bites.
The man and the bird slowly finished a bag of chestnuts.
"Wake me up at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning, okay?"
Jiujiu flew onto his knees, and he stroked its head. "I'll take you to the park. There's a Jinguang Temple inside Wenfeng Park. Let's go and listen to the monks chanting sutras."
Jiujiu looked at him in confusion.
The next morning, just as I turned off the alarm on my cell phone, the window opened, and Jiujiu flapped its wings and landed on the bed, calling to Jiang Youming.
Jiang You wiped his face and sat up sleepily.
He looked at the bird on the bed and at the sky outside the window.
He recited a poem: "The early bird catches the worm."
I got out of bed and stretched.
After washing up, he went downstairs, carrying the bird cage and walked into Wenfeng Park. He first walked along the tree-lined path by the lake. As expected, he met Zhao Lijun who was also walking his bird. He quickly approached him and said hello, "Mr. Zhao, you are here to walk your bird too."
"Oh, it's Xiao Jiang," he looked at the chirping bird in Jiang You's cage, "a coal tit, right? The little guy looks very energetic. When did you raise him?"
"It's from a friend. I'll keep it for a few days."
Jiang You looked at the canary in Zhao Lijun's birdcage and said, "It's so beautiful in red."
"This red is called chili red. It's not easy to get."
"Yes, yes."
"Mr. Lin has been talking to me about you recently. He said you agreed to play ten games of chess with him, but you disappeared without a trace."
The two of them walked slowly side by side along the lake.
"I was just about to go to the tearoom."
Zhao Lijun smiled, "Are you so happy to raise a bird?"
"I was envious when I saw you raising one last year. My friend took it away the next week."
"Why don't you raise one yourself? I'll introduce you to someone who bought it from me."
Jiang You sighed, "I have adopted a child now, and I can't handle taking care of him every day."
"I heard that too. Are you really going to play ten rounds of chess with Mr. Lin?"
"Let's play. He's so excited. I want to go and see his Hyuga Torreya chessboard, too. I'll write down the chess records and post them on the forum. I'll have a title like 'Two Heroes Compete for Hegemony in Cultural Street'. How great."
"Two heroes? Just the chess skills of the two of you?"
"I think I've improved recently."
Zhao Lijun burst into laughter.
After walking around the lake for a while, Jiang You said goodbye to Zhao Lijun, "I'm going to go to Jinguang Temple for a walk, and I'll see you at the teahouse later!"
"See you later!" Zhao Lijun said with full energy.
He carried the bird cage to Jinguang Temple and slowly walked towards the Buddhist chanting hall. A monk in gray saw him, walked up to him, put his hands together, saluted him, and said, "Hello, donor. This place is not open to tourists."
Jiang You lifted the cage and said, "I'm looking for Master Hong Zhen. Please inform him and say it's Jiang You who's looking for him."
The monk looked at Jiang You hesitantly, but still went in to report.
A few minutes later, he came out again and took Jiang You in.
After walking in front of Master Hongzhen, Jiang You placed the bird cage on the ground, clasped his hands together and bowed to Master Hongzhen, saying, "Hello, Master Hongzhen."
Master Hongzhen responded: "Hello, Donor Jiang."
Jiang You picked up the bird cage and said, "This spiritual bird is infected by negative emotions. Please ask the mage to chant sutras to exorcise the evil spirits for it."
Master Hongzhen looked at Jiujiu.
Jiujiu jumped a little.
Master Hongzhen said, “Okay.”
"Excuse me, Master."
"How is the child now ?" asked Master Hongzhen.
"Very well, I adopted him. If the mage wants to see him, just go to my shop."
Master Hongzhen was silent for a while, and finally he said, "That's good."
Master Hongzhen took the birdcage from Jiang You, put it aside, closed his eyes and began to chant.
This time he recited the Shurangama Mantra.
Golden Sanskrit characters floated out and landed on Jiujiu's body. The black energy that was invisible to the naked eye and lingering around it gradually dissipated.
