Volume 11: Memetic Crisis Chapter 559: Nameless Island

Ke Lan's voice seemed to remain in the same place, but his figure had already appeared behind the Seraph.
“Puff——”
The pair of bloody claws broke through the flames in an instant and pierced through the roots of the top pair of wings of the Seraph.
“Sizzle!”
The pair of huge wings were actually torn off by Ke Lan directly from the body of the Seraphim that was mutated from the "Yinglong Egg". A large amount of blood gushed out from the wound and was quickly frozen into large pink ice chunks in mid-air. Then, it smashed to pieces on the hard ground!
The four faces of the Seraph screamed miserably at the same time, and its remaining four wings suddenly rolled behind it, trying to catch Ke Lan who was suspended in the air and unable to move.
But Ke Lan did not dodge. Instead, he landed directly on the body of Seraphim, stepped on the opponent's body, and directly crossed over the head of Seraphim.
Ke Lan lowered his head and happened to meet the eyes of one of the four faces of the Seraphim. In the other's eyes, he saw deep doubt and fear, as well as a trace of indescribable resentment.
Although Ke Lan was not sure whether the other party could see his face behind the bloody mask, he still smiled at the Seraph, then stretched out his hands, poked straight into the eye sockets of the face, and dug the two eyeballs out of the eye sockets.
The two eyeballs that were separated from the body did not "die" immediately, but struggled desperately in Ke Lan's palm, as if there was a very special magnetic field between the body of the Seraph and the two eyeballs. As long as Ke Lan let go of his hand, the two eyeballs would be sucked back into the eye sockets.
Of course Ke Lan would not let them go back. He simply clenched his fists and crushed the two twitching eyeballs on the spot!
The eyeball that had turned into a paste finally calmed down, leaked out from between Ke Lan's fingers, and dripped onto the ground.
These mushy minced meats were not frozen - at this time, the temperature in the hall was rising rapidly. Although Ke Lan did not have any temperature measuring equipment at hand, he could determine by physical sensation that the surrounding temperature had already risen above zero degrees Celsius. Even the ice chips scattered on the ground began to melt gradually.
This terrifying heat naturally emanated from the Seraph - having lost a pair of wings and a pair of eyes, the entire body of the Seraph was surrounded by dazzling flames. It was like a blazing sun, making it impossible to look directly at it with the naked eye.
“Uh…ah…”
An inhuman roar emanated from the Seraph's mouth, and the range of the flames covering its body suddenly expanded by three or four times, instantly enveloping Ke Lan.
It was only then that Ke Lan discovered that the flames released by the Seraphim were divided into two types - one was composed of an energy body and could actually have an impact on reality, while the other was the "spiritual fire" that only existed in "subjective perception".
Compared with the former, the latter can make people have the illusion that they are in a temperature of tens of thousands of degrees... Even if you are wearing the best thermal insulation equipment, even if the actual temperature around you is less than zero degrees Celsius, as long as this ball of "spiritual fire" invades your cognitive field, you will feel as if you have fallen into the boiler of a steel plant. The burning sensation and extreme pain are so real that people can't tell whether all this is an illusion or reality.
Even Ke Lan, who is immune to "memetic infection", cannot escape this spiritual fire that directly interferes with brain cognition.
It’s a pity that he now seems to have become a little numb to the feeling of “pain”.
Ke Lan's figure disappeared again.
This time, he chose to break through head-on.
The bloody claws can not only tear apart the flames in reality, but are also aggressive against the "spiritual fire". Ke Lan crossed his arms, then fiercely swung his claws, immediately clearing a blank area in front of him without any "light pollution". Taking advantage of the brief gap when the flames were separated, he directly drilled through this narrow blank area and approached the Seraph.
“Sizzle!”
Another pair of wings was torn off, and the Seraphim let out a sharp cry like a crying baby. The three remaining faces were twisted into an inhuman appearance due to the severe pain. A large amount of blood gushed out from the broken wings, and the surface of the Yinglong egg, which was the "body" of the Seraphim, began to deflate.
"It turns out to be a hollow ball?" Ke Lan said. His claws did not attack the last remaining pair of wings, but inserted into the wound of the broken wings and pulled them hard to both sides, expanding the already horrific wound several times!
"Blood gushing out" is no longer enough to describe the scene at the moment. The blood plasma gushing out was like a burst fire hydrant , dyeing the ceiling, walls and floor of the entire hall completely red...
As for the Seraph's body, it shrank rapidly like a deflated balloon - soon, it turned into a human figure less than one and a half meters tall.
That was the clone hidden in the center of Yinglong's egg, but now its body was covered with a layer of wrinkled skin, and four completely deformed faces were tightly attached around its head. The facial features on these faces were completely dislocated, and at first glance, it looked like a portrait of a character in Pablo Picasso's "Cubist" painting.
The face whose eyes Ke Lan had gouged out happened to be the face in front of the clone. Blood plasma and broken tissue fragments were still falling out of the pair of black eye sockets.
The only remaining pair of wings of the Seraph drooped down, dragging behind its waist. The originally gorgeous and smooth feathers were covered with blood and fell to the ground, soaked in the sticky and thick blood plasma.
Ke Lan took a step forward.
The clone subconsciously took a step back, but was tripped by the skin that was clinging to its legs and fell backwards to the ground.
It tried to flap its wings, but the wings only scratched the blood plasma a few times and failed to lift its body off the ground.
The blinding flames had completely disappeared, and the temperature in the hall dropped back to below zero degrees again... Soon, an inch thick layer of blood plasma on the ground froze the clone and its wings to the ground, making it unable to move.
" So... so cold..." it said in a trembling voice, "I feel... so cold."
"You feel cold because you are heading towards death." Ke Lan said, "It will be useless even if we move you to a place with heating now."
He could feel that the clone's vitality was rapidly draining from its body. The pupils of the eyeballs on its wings had begun to dilate, and purple-black corpse spots began to gradually appear on its body.
In fact, the fusion of the clone and the Yinglong Egg was not perfect. It just controlled the power of the Yinglong Egg in some way - the fact that it still retains the body of the little boy is the best proof.
“Why… God… won’t… favor me…” the clone murmured, “I’ve clearly… been trying my best… to satisfy His…”
"Your performance is too contrived. It can only be regarded as a third-rate bad movie." Ke Lan half squatted down and looked directly at the two black holes. "Even the audience, who have been fed shit by capital and have no appreciation ability, will be eager for such a bad movie to end quickly."
"W-why?"
"Don't ask me. I've already answered your two questions. Now it's my turn to ask questions." Ke Lan said, "You said before that I was a 'shell'. What does that mean? I have 'other people's things' in my body. What does that mean?"
Ke Lan thought for a moment and added, "Don't tell me that was just something you made up to delay time..."
The clone did not answer. Its body had stopped shaking. The eyes on the other three faces were wide open, and its dark pupils had dilated to the maximum extent, completely losing their spirit.
It's dead.
"Damn it." Ke Lan couldn't help but curse, "You died too easily, didn't you? Generally speaking, a BOSS of this level should linger on for a long time, and then make a final comeback before dying, right?"
Ke Lan was so angry that she kicked the clone in the chest. With a crisp "crack" sound, the clone's upper and lower body broke into two parts, and the inner part of the torso appeared directly in front of Ke Lan.
Ke Lan noticed that the organs in the clone's body were like mummies that had been dried by wind for hundreds or thousands of years. The heart had even shrunk into a dark brown ball smaller than a walnut, hanging in the empty chest cavity by a few equally shriveled tendons and blood vessels.
Its bones were covered with holes of all sizes. Ke Lan didn't even touch it, and the ribs broke into several pieces under the pressure of the tight membrane. Some parts even turned directly into fine bone powder, which was even crisper than freshly baked French pancakes.
Even the outer skin of the Yinglong egg was rapidly decaying and degrading... The ambient temperature had clearly dropped to dozens of degrees below zero, but it seemed that its body could not be preserved. In less than five minutes, the body of the "Seraphim" had turned into a pool of pus.
Not until the last feather on its wings dissolved into the pus did the low temperature of the underground ice storage begin to take effect on its "body". The grayish-white pus was quickly frozen into a large, flat lump of ice. Then, the moisture precipitated from the pus quickly formed a thin layer of white frost on the surface of the ice.
"It's a pleasing battle." Pan's voice came from behind. Ke Lan turned around and found that a security robot that was usually used to patrol the underground ice storage was leaning against the exit of the secret passage. This security robot had no palm structure, and it could only use the sound of its metal pincers colliding with each other to replace the clapping action.
"Turning into a monster... does that mean I'm in this state now?" Ke Lan said. The blood-colored armor on his body suddenly dissolved and turned into flowing plasma, which once again penetrated into Ke Lan's body through the pores on his skin. Ke Lan's eyebrows twitched unnaturally twice. Obviously, this process was not painless.
"I don't know. I've already said that you are the first person to successfully fuse with this living armor. We cannot predict what will happen to you." The security robot made a somewhat funny shrug with its limited movable joints. "By the way, should you find a piece of cloth to cover yourself?"
"Do the Undead Crew still care about this?" Ke Lan was unmoved, and just "calmly faced" the guard robot in front of him controlled by Pan, "Or do you think I care?"
"You are a public figure now, after all. You have to pay attention to your image." Pan said, "The crisis management department will arrive at the scene in half an hour. Although they will not spread your nude photos, you probably don't want to appear in the video file with this image, right?"
"Okay." Ke Lan bent down, and the living armor in the form of plasma flowed out from the back of his hand, wrapping his entire fist, forming a simple boxing glove. Ke Lan smashed his fist directly on the ground, breaking the deep red ice surface, and tore out half a piece of cloth from it and wrapped it around his waist.
That was a part of the blood-stained white coat that the clone had worn previously. Unfortunately, it was shattered into pieces by the shotgun shells and could only barely cover Ke Lan's vital parts.
"Can you tell me the origin of this living armor?" Ke Lan asked, "Isn't that too much?"
"Not too much." The guard robot shook its head, "It came from an S-class ruins."
"Then what?"
“No more.”
"That's it?"
"Then what else do you want to know? If you want to read those highly professional research reports, I can send them to you after I have sorted out things here. But if you ask me to explain it verbally, I am afraid it will take me several days and nights to explain it clearly." Pan's tone was full of helplessness.
"Can't you just focus on the main points?" Ke Lan was also helpless.
"There is no focus. Or in a sense, those research reports are full of focus. It depends on how you define it... But I can tell you the name of the ruins."
"What is the name of the ruins? What is the number?"
"It has no number. This is an undisclosed relic... but someone has been there before." Pan's words contained a hint of teasing, "'Nameless Island'... a lonely island standing on the endless sea, where time does not flow and the sun never sets."
The corner of Ke Lan's eye twitched suddenly. Of course he knew which island the other party was talking about.
Sure enough, the undead crew would know about it... But since they knew about the existence of the island, why did they let General Maginot come to question them?
Is it just to test myself? Is this necessary?
"You all know?"
"I know." The guard robot nodded, "But we can pretend not to know. The crew will want to give you as much freedom as possible, rather than turning you into a puppet at our mercy... If a puppet is really needed, I think this robot will be much more useful than you."
As he spoke, Pan suddenly manipulated the robot to do a backflip and landed steadily on the ground.
"Okay... I have one more question."
"Ask." Pan was very generous .
"That clone said 'shell' and 'other people's things'...what do these mean?"
