Volume 1: First Arrival Chapter 79 A Possibility
Looking at Kirk who looked lazy and looked around, Nate felt an urge to complain:
"This isn't some little 'action' movie, okay?"
But he swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth. Nate kept reminding himself to stay focused and not be distracted by Kirk.
Nat nodded in affirmation and answered in as calm a tone as possible.
“The production team was originally going to make a background board, but Channel 11 wanted to keep it fresh and change the background frequently to connect with the younger generation.”
"Doing so would mean an increase in costs, so in the end they chose a compromise and used a projector to make the background board."
Kirk raised his chin slightly to show that he understood. "It just wanted to imitate the Disney Channel, but because they were short of money, they made a low-profile version."
Nate blinks: Why is the Disney Channel in this conversation?
On the computer screen.
Only then did Kirk finally notice the two protagonists who were biting each other.
MacDonald, who looks to be in his early 40s, with short hair, a beard, and a suit, looks a bit like a water-swollen version of Justin Timberlake; but there is no doubt that he cannot be compared, so he can only find a job at Channel 11.
Fisher's face cannot be seen because she is facing away from the camera. All we can see is her waterfall-like blonde hair. Following MacDonald's dishonest right hand in the exploration, we can also see her graceful curves extending downwards. She is completely different from the stereotypical elementary school teacher.
The scene was, as Nate had said before, very...intense.
It can be seen that the two people did create sparks.
"oh!"
Kirk noticed the detail, and MacDonald glanced at the surveillance video, a smile on his face.
"She probably didn't know this was being recorded."
"Obviously, he knows."
"Not only did he know, but he also deliberately led them to the surveillance video. It seems that this is not the first or second time that has happened."
"I'm curious, does MacDonald like to keep these surveillance videos for himself, or does he like the thrill of being watched by others?"
Nate paused for a moment. The first detail Kirk brought up was something they hadn't noticed.
"Well, the police didn't find any video footage at MacDonald's house..."
Investigation is the job of the police, while the prosecutor's expertise is on the other side.
"I'm not sure if the police have seriously searched his computer."
"But does it matter?"
"Even if that's true, assuming MacDonald liked to collect it himself and was discovered by Fisher, wouldn't that be Fisher's motive for committing the crime?"
Although a little surprised, Nate's thoughts raced, and he immediately thought about the motive of the crime.
Kirk nodded slightly in agreement.
"Of course, if Fisher is identified as the suspect, then such details are naturally irrelevant. As you have inferred, this may be Fisher's motive for committing the crime."
Kirk did not mean to blame the work of the police and prosecutors.
In this case, the suspect was caught red-handed, and there was complete evidence, witnesses and physical evidence. Even the suspect himself could not give a clear statement of innocence.
Under such circumstances, all investigations naturally revolve around the suspect, and it is inevitable that some clues will be overlooked during the investigation.
"but."
"We are looking for other possibilities now, aren't we?"
"I have a hypothesis."
"McDonald just likes others to monitor all this. He even knows there are people behind the surveillance video, so it becomes a performance."
"Does that mean there was a third person at the crime scene, but that person never showed up. Isn't that strange?"
Kirk's words were like an electric shock. Nate couldn't help but shudder and said subconsciously, "This is outrageous."
This is tantamount to completely overturning the entire case.
Kirk also understood, so he did not make random guesses. "I just proposed a possibility, but there is no evidence. It's purely my imagination."
"My imagination is very dangerous, so don't try it lightly."
There is also a humorous warning at the end.
But, it's not funny at all.
Nate glanced at Kirk speechlessly, but now was not the time to complain, so he replayed the video and returned to the scene just now.
Sure enough, Nate saw the look MacDonald gave the camera.
In fact, I had seen it before, but I didn't think much about it; but now, after Kirk raised a possibility, everything is different.
I'm not sure if it's a psychological problem, but the more I looked at it, the weirder and more obscene it seemed. Even McDonald's smile seemed to be provocative, and that weird intuition surged up again.
After that, the video continued to play, but there was not much content.
Because of the angle of the surveillance video, the picture could only capture the waist position; later, McDonald and Fisher both lay down and left the screen, so the surveillance video could not capture anything. The video switched to audio mode, and the whole viewing experience became indescribable.
On the screen, it was a cheap New York city street scene, with a projector effect, but it was a bit distorted.
Outside the screen, unbearable noises were ringing, as if one were actually on 42nd Street.
and.
That sound was indeed a bit... exaggerated, just like a bowl of clear soup, the saltiness has been adjusted but it always feels like something is missing, so you are ready to sprinkle some chicken essence, but you didn't expect your hand to shake, and then you spill two big globs of it. It tastes good, but it is full of the taste of industrial mixing.
Kirk's head tilted little by little as the two people "collapsed", and finally it was at a 90-degree angle, with his ears pressed against his shoulders.
But I still can't see anything.
That's it?
The foreshadowing has been so intense in the previous part, and the emotions are at the top of my lungs, but the result... is just this?
Kirk glanced at Nate out of the corner of his eye.
Nate cleared his throat awkwardly, "There's more later."
"If it wasn't key evidence, I'd rather spend my time watching Animal World." Kirk complained slowly and boredly.
Having said that, you still need to finish watching it——
After all, it is the key evidence.
The video is not long, in fact, it is only less than two minutes. The two people's shouting has not yet reached its climax before being interrupted by a scream.
"ah!"
Terrible and tragic!
The scream came from MacDonald.
It was like the movie "Basic Instinct" shining through in reality, and the image of Fisher hiding the ice pick at the scene immediately emerged in my mind, with an extremely strong visual sense.
No wonder!
No wonder the prosecutor's office believes that this is the real hammer that completely confirms the entire fact of the crime. Although the footage did not capture the moment of the crime, judging from the time and scene, there is no room for excuses. It is most sensible for the suspect to plead guilty in exchange for a reduced sentence.
Otherwise, imagine if a jury saw this video, that scene should...
But!
Fisher refused to trade and refused to plead guilty.
Now Kirk could totally understand where Nate's weirdness came from.
Just now, although Kirk complained, he watched the video very carefully. Now, to be on the safe side, he watched it again.
Then.
"Nate, the image quality of your computer screen is too poor. Project it onto the TV screen and see."
