Volume 1: First Arrival Chapter 029: Caught Red-Handed

New York is a forest of steel bars. The towering buildings hold up the sky, so high and so far away. When you look up, it seems that you can't see the sky no matter how hard you try. The howling wind blows wildly between the buildings, and the bustling traffic is instantly swept away by the wind and scattered in the air.
“Anna!”
A call exploded like thunder from the blue sky, echoing off the concrete, and all eyes were cast over.
Kirk and Adrian were standing not far away. They only felt a scream and a gust of wind, and the next second they saw the figure running at full speed.
Running at full speed like lightning.
At this moment, Kirk seemed to be sitting in a drive-in movie theater, enjoying snacks while appreciating the joys and sorrows being played out on the big screen. The sinking of the "Titanic" could not affect the wonderful taste of popcorn and Coke. He stuffed the bagel into his mouth again and took a big bite.
Then, his sight extended all the way along the figure in police uniform -
It turned out to be an acquaintance.
Calum Westwood.
The Hull brothers' neighbors lived on the third floor of an apartment building next door. They were a family of four.
Twenty-five-year-old Callum also works for the NYPD. He is affiliated with the 14th Precinct under the Patrol Service Bureau. Simply put, he is responsible for daily patrol work and he has not been in the law enforcement system for long.
For private detectives, connections and reputation are the key to doing business; at the same time, they are bound to have intersections with official law enforcement agencies, so the importance of building a network of connections is self-evident.

It was because of this that Kirk and Callum became friends, and not only Callum, Kirk also had a good relationship with the patrol officers of the 14th Precinct, and he would visit the precinct every now and then.
Anna, whose full name should be Anna-Westwood, is Callum's sister.
Although Kirk had only been in New York for three weeks and had never formally met Anna, he often heard about her deeds in daily conversations.
There is a big age gap between the little girl and Callum. Anna is a high school student, and this year she is in grade eleven. Therefore, Callum and Anna's way of getting along is quite special. They are like brothers and fathers, and they often bicker with each other.
I didn’t expect that today I would be able to witness the civil war between the Westwood brothers and sisters up close.
Today is Friday, and even though Easter is on Sunday, high school students still need to go to class.
Seeing Anna in the city center at this moment was obviously something that shouldn't have happened, but Callum caught her on the spot.
Does this count as catching the person red-handed?
No wonder Callum was so excited.
Baji, Baji.
Kirk's chewing muscles are working hard, his taste buds can sense different flavors like blooming flowers, and his mood becomes joyful.
Kirk turned to look at Adrian——
He could understand that Adrian was still a little uncomfortable with cooperating with the private detective, but there was no need to force it, just let it go.
"Detective, for now, just focus on the clues and investigate based on them. We will slowly check the clues and check the possibilities. We will always be able to find something."
"What's more, the entire case is now under the spotlight. The more chaotic the situation is, the more clues will emerge."
"I trust you."
After saying that, Kirk saluted towards Adrian.
Adrian's head was full of question marks, so, was this guy encouraging him?
But... this feeling is actually not bad.
Thinking back to my doubts and confusions of the past few days, and then thinking back to the storms and crises of the past two days, perhaps this is just right -
Even though it was a hot potato, he was finally able to conduct an investigation openly. As Kirk said , there was no turning back and the truth was the only salvation.
Thinking of this, Adrian regained some courage.
He raised his head and looked at Kirk. That look and that expression easily made the little good impression Adrian had just gathered disappear.
"Ha. Ha." Adrian laughed dryly twice, "Thank you for guiding me in my work."
Kirk seemed not to have heard Adrian's sarcasm, and waved his hand gently, "It's okay, it's okay. James Gordon also often asks Bruce Wayne for help."
Adrian was dumbfounded.
However, before Adrian could say anything more, Kirk turned and walked away.

Adrian was a little depressed and tried to complain, but seeing Kirk walking away, his words became a little confused in his anxiety, "No, I'm not... you, you're not Batman! Hey, Joker, Penguin, you... Joker!"
His incoherent shouting did not stop Kirk. Instead, he saw Kirk turning his back to him, raising his right hand and waving it without looking back.
Adrian: ...
In the end, Adrian didn't say anything more. He glanced at Kirk's back, then looked away and gave up struggling.
What's more, time is running out and he needs to follow up on the clues quickly. There are thousands of clues in the "homeless case" in front of him and Stephen. Both of them have the urge to die. They need to quickly screen out effective clues from the haystack. Now Kirk's clues are a life-saving straw.
Thinking carefully, Adrian calmed down and sincerely hoped that Kirk's clues could become a breakthrough -
Of course, that's the senator. The situation is very bad, very, very bad. No one knows what devil will be released when opening this Pandora's box; but now it's completely in the dark. It's better to have a clue than no clue, and it's better to have a direction than no direction. At least there is some idea.
But.
On second thought, the identity of a senator is another headache.
Damn it!
Adrian took a deep puff of his cigarette, turned around and walked quickly towards his car. No matter what, the storm had already begun.
Here, Kirk really didn't pay any more attention to Adrian. He also knew the difficulty of the whole case. They needed patience. No matter where the yellow ribbon clues could lead to, they still needed to continue exploring and tracking down the pile of clues and not be too hasty.
It seems inappropriate to pretend not to see what is happening. After all, the connections in the 14th Precinct are still very important.
From a distance, Kirk could see the depressed Callum and the stubborn and proud Anna confronting each other tensely.
"...No! This is my life, my youth, I have the right to do this. Just because you didn't do it doesn't mean I can't do it."
"Anna! It's not worth it!"
"Whether it's worth it should be up to me to judge!"
Their conversation was carried over the whistling wind, completely ignoring the passers-by. The combination of the policeman and the girl did attract a lot of attention.
Kirk's footsteps slowly approached. He didn't need any special movements or words. His uniform was intimidating enough. Passersby who slowed down and hesitated whether they should watch secretly glanced at Kirk's footsteps and then continued on their way. The encirclement was not formed after all.
However, the real key now is not the passers-by——
Seeing that Callum and Anna were in a stalemate, there were two girls next to Anna, trembling with fear as they looked at Callum, at a loss as to what to do. If no one broke the deadlock, the scene could return to the Ice Age at any time.
"It seems that you may need some help from Judge Judith Sheindlin. How about I call the hotline now?"
