Volume 1: First Arrival Chapter 015: Gambling for Fun

Adrian: ...I've never seen such a shameless person!
But Kirk was so upright and so confident that Adrian couldn't help but be stunned, and his restless brain began to boil.
Adrian seriously considered arresting , or just going straight and destroying the face in front of him with a straight punch. But in the end, he pulled himself back and controlled himself.
Beep!
Adrian yanked off his rubber gloves with a sharp sound and looked away unhappily.
"what do you want."
Kirk's mouth curled up slightly, "To be precise, it's not what I want, but what does the detective want?"
Adrian frowned slightly and looked at Kirk with caution.
Kirk was not surprised. "Detective, don't you want to find out the truth about the 'homeless case'?"
Adrian immediately understood Kirk's subtext and subconsciously cut off the possibility in advance, "No."
Kirk shook his head slightly, "Detective Adrian, how can a man say 'no' so easily?"
Adrian: ...
A breath was stuck in my throat, almost smoking, just a little bit.
But Adrian still controlled himself, "I know what you are planning, but, no. This is police work, we don't need help."

"No? Are you sure?"
Hearing this, Adrian laughed in anger, "Are you questioning the ability of the NYPD?"
"yes."
Adrian: ...
He really, really, really wanted to strangle the guy in front of him, but he had to hold it back, hold it back!
At least, not in public.
Adrian took a deep breath and suppressed his anger. "So, the NYPD can't do it, but you can? You are so awesome, Mr. Sherlock-Holmes!"
Taunting, barely veiled.
Unexpectedly, Kirk didn't mind at all and said with a smile, "Thank you for the compliment."
Without waiting for Adrian to continue speaking, Kirk changed the subject and continued speaking.
“While the NYPD may not find any STDs when they go to Tijuana to search, the key is not that, but time.”
"I know how heavy the workload is for the NYPD Investigations Bureau. Even if the 'homeless case' is imminent, it doesn't mean that other crimes in New York will stop, right?"
"Unfortunately, we don't have Bruce Wayne, so the detective showed up here early in the morning with another case to deal with."
An understatement, but to the point.
Adrian was a little speechless, and the words of rebuttal were stuck in his throat and he couldn't say them out.
Kirk decided to quit while he was ahead and immediately changed the subject.
“Just like this case.”
"The detectives need to wait for the crime scene department to come and collect evidence, and then wait for the laboratory's test report... If they wait like this, I'm afraid the case won't be closed in a short period of time. Then, one case after another, one case after another, they will be caught in an endless vortex."
"So what about the 'hobo case'?"
The slow and steady words seemed to have a kind of magic. Just by imagining it, Adrian began to have a headache.
Especially when I thought about the mountains of "evidence" in the "homeless man case", I didn't know whether they were garbage or something else. Countless possibilities spread out before my eyes. I didn't even know where to start, and my head began to ache.
After a pause, as if consciously waiting for the thoughts to ferment in his mind, Kirk continued to speak -
This time, the tone of voice changed subtly, becoming more confident and assertive, radiating from the inside out.
"What if I say that within the next twenty minutes, I can solve the case for the detective?"
The timing was very accurate, and a sudden turn left Adrian confused, "Huh?"
Kirk's smile rose slightly, "Twenty minutes. No, ten minutes."
It was too ridiculous to be angry at all, so Adrian just laughed out loud, "Do you really think you are Sherlock Holmes?"
Kirk didn't mind Adrian's sarcasm and shrugged, "Why not give it a try?"
"If I can't do it, I will disappear now and not disturb the detective's work anymore; but if I can do it, the detective will be able to solve a case and then be able to focus on more complex and more important cases."
No matter how you look at it or how you listen to it, this is a business that will not lose money, but——
Adrian still remained alert, "What do you want?"

Kirk's eyes showed a glimmer of confidence. Adrian didn't refuse directly, which meant that he had opened up the situation. "One chance."
"A chance to calm down and have a proper conversation. After all, we are all seeking the same thing, truth and justice."
"Ha." Adrian sneered, "Are you sure? So, you investigated the case for free?"
Kirk pursed his lips slightly. "That depends on how the detective defines free and paid. We are not sixteen-year-old children anymore."
The meaningful words made Adrian pause for a moment. The words of rebuttal and complaint were on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed them back in front of Kirk's frank and sincere face. After changing his mind, the words of rejection came to his lips again, but the thoughts in his mind held the reins tightly.
He knew that he should say "no"; he knew that the person in front of him was a dangerous person.
But at the same time, he also knows that the "homeless case" is of vital importance, not only because he longs for truth and justice, but also because he is now in a dangerous predicament.
If the case cannot be solved, will Steve let him take the blame and then deal with him as a matter of course?
Time, time, time, time…
Although it was annoying, Adrian had to admit that the guy in front of him had grasped the key, and he and Stephen needed time.
While struggling and hesitating, Adrian looked into Kirk's calm and composed eyes, and somehow the words came out of his mouth.
"ten minutes?"
Kirk was completely unaware of Adrian's hesitation and was still in the mood to joke, "Why not give it 20 minutes?"
This interruption actually highlighted Kirk's confidence. Adrian didn't even realize it, and the corners of his mouth rose as he ignored Kirk.
"The time starts now."
Adrian thought Kirk would be in a panic, and he was also very curious about how Kirk would conduct the investigation. Could he know magic?
However--
not at all.
Kirk still stood there, drinking his coffee leisurely.
Gurgle. Gurgle.
Savor it slowly and carefully, just like a Totoro waiting obediently at the bus stop, holding an umbrella and waiting patiently with a simple and honest look on his face.
As a result, it was Adrian who became impatient, "...What are you waiting for?"
Kirk's eyebrows slightly raised, "Wait for the wind to come."
Adrian: ...
Seeing Adrian's frown, Kirk nodded contentedly and handed him the coffee cup.
Adrian took it subconsciously.
Before he could react, he heard "thank you" in his ears, and then he watched Kirk pass by him.
Adrian's eyes moved back and forth between the coffee cup and Kirk's back, and the first thought in his mind was to turn around and throw the coffee away.
But I looked around but couldn't find a trash can. I looked down at the coffee cup in my hand again, feeling frustrated and depressed.
Is it too late to throw the coffee directly into that guy's face?
So, should the second option be to secretly put a laxative in here?
