Volume 1 Faith Chapter 3: Not a Simple Newcomer
Qin Ci stood up and patted him on the shoulder. His mellow voice was inevitably a little cold: "Let's try our best to take care of him."
Wei Dong pulled the shoulder bag from his body - he originally entered the exhibition hall with a backpack, but after entering the painting it became a coarse cloth shoulder bag.
He brought beef jerky, chocolate, sausage and even five packs of instant noodles in his bag. Seeing the frightened face of the poor child, he wanted to take out a piece of chocolate to comfort him. However, he was dumbfounded when he opened the bag. The instant noodles turned into crumbs, the chocolate turned into a yellow solid lump, and the beef jerky and sausage turned directly back into raw meat, mixed into a mess.
"What the hell has this turned into!" Wei Dong was furious. He took out the yellow thing that looked like chocolate and held it in his hand, staring at it.
"It looks a bit like cheese," said Qin Ci.
"Cheese?" Wei Dong was confused. "I can understand instant noodles turning into noodle residue and cooked meat turning into raw meat, but what kind of weird idea is it to turn chocolate into cheese?"
Ke Xun felt around his body, took out his cell phone, turned on the screen and took a look. Sure enough, it still only had the functions of checking time and providing lighting.
"Maybe they have all degenerated." After answering Wei Dong, he turned to ask Qin Ci, "Mu Yiran hasn't come yet?"
Qin Ci shook his head.
As he was speaking, he suddenly felt a bright sunlight, which was so bright that he could hardly open his eyes for a moment. When the light passed, he saw two more people in his field of vision, and they went from being stunned to confused, and then to screaming wildly.
Ke Xun and Wei Dong looked at the two men with mixed emotions.
Seeing them was like seeing myself when I first entered the previous painting. At that time, no one could have imagined what unimaginable experiences they would face next.
I don’t know how many of these people will survive in the end.
The two finally noticed the crowd and stumbled over. They were a young man and a young woman who looked like a couple. The man shouted at Ke Xun, "Brother! What's going on?"
When the two came closer, Ke Xun replied: "This is a painting, a world in a painting. It sounds incredible, right? But this is what really happened. We are now in the painting you just saw."
The man was also confused and cursed: "This is bullshit! Are you sick?"
Ke Xun raised an eyebrow: "Do you have medicine?"
The man was shocked and angry: "Are you crazy?!"
Ke Xun: "Can you cure it?"
The man was furious: "Fuck!" He cursed and was about to punch Ke Xun in the face, but Ke Xun easily dodged by turning his body. The man turned around and wanted to continue punching him, but was stopped by Wei Dong who was beside him.
"Take it easy, buddy," Weidong said, "Don't mess with him. If he really starts fighting, he'll beat you up so hard that you'll cry for daddy."
"Get out of my way!" The man pushed Wei Dong away and was about to rush towards Ke Xun, but was stopped by his girlfriend again.
"Zhou Bin! Stop it! Hurry up and ask what's going on!" The girlfriend was so panicked that her voice was filled with tears.
Zhou Bin glared at Ke Xun, put down his fist, and looked at the others. He saw that most of them were like him and his girlfriend, all panicking. Only one tall man with a clean and calm face looked at this side calmly. He walked over and asked, "Big brother, can I ask where we are? What is going on?"
Qin Ci was quite patient as a doctor, so he gave a brief explanation to Zhou Bin and his girlfriend. Zhou Bin and his girlfriend were stunned after hearing it.
Ke Xun didn't want to pay attention to this side and turned his head to look into the distance.
In the distance are mountains, the tops of which are covered with mottled snow, shining brightly in the sun.
The sky above was exceptionally blue, even to the point of being abnormally blue. It was clearly clear, yet it seemed as if countless huge and terrifying things were piled up and crowded in the sky.
Ke Xun took a breath, the air was chilly and cold like the snow in the distance.
"I'm a little short of breath." Wei Dong said while squatting at his feet.
"Indeed, although this place is empty, there is an inexplicable feeling of tightness and suffocation," said Ke Xun.
"Are you trying to kill us by suffocating us?" Wei Dong shuddered. "This is a horrible way to die. If that's the case, I'll just run into a wall and die."
Just as he finished speaking, he heard Zhou Bin's girlfriend behind him let out a sharp cry: "How could this happen - I don't want to die - Zhou Bin! Zhou Bin! What should I do! I don't want to die -"
Wei Dong and Ke Xun looked at each other. It was obvious that Qin Ci had already explained everything in the painting to these people.
Ke Xun didn't want to listen anymore and looked at the snow on the mountain top in the distance.
Wei Dong looked around for a while and asked, "Why hasn't Boss Mu come yet? Could it be that he decided that he would rather die outside than enter the painting again?"
"He is not the kind of person who would accept his fate or back down when faced with difficulties," Ke Xun said.
Wei Dong sighed: "You're praising him already? Are you really interested in him?"
Ke Xun put his hands behind his head: "'Interesting' has many meanings, it can be admiration, it can be adoration and love, or it can be a fan of his looks and soul."
"...Okay, I know what you mean." Wei Dong said, "Just do what you want, I support you. Anyway, you don't know when your life will end in the painting. Since you may die at any time, do whatever you want."
The two were trying to calm their emotions by chatting, when they suddenly felt the sunlight in front of them become dazzling again. When the light passed, they looked around and saw the tall and outstanding Mu Yiran walking towards them.
Ke Xun unconsciously raised the corners of his lips and kicked Wei Dong who was still squatting beside him: "Get up."
“What for?” Wei Dong stood up reluctantly. “Your idol is not my idol. Do I have to welcome him with you?!”
Ke Xun looked at Mu Yiran walking over and sighed, "A big boss is a big boss. Even when he wears beggar clothes, he looks like an artist."
Wei Dong put his hands on the awning and looked at it for a few times, and sighed: "This dress looks like beggars on us, but on others, it looks like a Taoist immortal..."
Before he could finish his words, he saw the gay guy next to him coming over happily. He had no choice but to mutter "face lover" and follow him.
"Everyone is here." Qin Ci said to Mu happily.
Thirteen people.
Mu Yiran glanced at everyone and ignored them. He only looked at Qin Ci: "Where is the place?"
Qin Ci pointed behind him and said, "Down the slope."
After turning a few boulders that are three or four people high, there is a steep slope going down the mountain. There are no signs of artificial development and there is almost no vegetation. The slope is covered with protruding large rocks and gravel, covered with grayish-white patterns.
At the bottom of the slope is a relatively flat open space with a dozen or so tents scattered around. Some are large and some are small. The large ones only have one tent and can accommodate more than ten people at the same time. The small ones are very small and look very flimsy.
Qin Ci walked in front, cautiously groping his way downhill, Ma Zhenhua followed closely behind. Mu glanced at Ke Xun and walked down without saying a word. Ke Xun was about to catch up, but saw the newcomers staying where they were timidly, and no one dared to move.
Ke Xun looked at the family of three and said to the father, "Come on, there's no point staying here. It's even more dangerous when it gets dark. You'll die here. Go down and find a way to leave . Maybe you'll have a chance to survive."
The father's lips trembled slightly, but he finally took his wife's hand in one hand and his child in the other and followed silently.
When the others heard Ke Xun's words, perhaps out of the herd mentality, or perhaps because they saw that Qin Ci, Mu, Yi Ran and the others were experienced, they did not stay any longer and walked down the slope tremblingly supporting each other.
Ke Xun actually couldn't understand why such dirty and horrible things appeared in such a clear and clean environment. What on earth was the person who painted such a picture thinking?
Although this slope was not easy to walk on, it was not particularly dangerous. However, there were four ladies and a half-grown child among the thirteen people, so it was inevitable that they would stumble and scream along the way.
Wei Dong had already run to the side of the 18-year-old long-haired beauty, and the old eunuch walked down, holding the person's arm with one hand as if he was serving the empress dowager.
As the sun was setting, everyone finally arrived in front of the tents. A middle-aged man dressed in a cloth robe and similar to everyone else came out of the largest tent. He had a dark face, chapped lips, a short stature, dark eye sockets, and eyes with more white than black. He looked at everyone and said in a stiff tone: "Go to bed early tonight and don't run around outside. Gather in this tent at dawn tomorrow. I'll wait for you here. Now I'll arrange your accommodation."
No one responded, but just listened silently.
The man didn't care. He glanced at everyone with a grim look and said, "You will all sleep in tents tonight. The tents are small, so only two people can use one. Remember, only two people."
There are thirteen people, but only two can live in one room, which means one person will be left alone.
After the middle-aged man finished speaking, he went to a small tent at the far end, leaving everyone else alone.
It seems that the allocation of tents can be decided by everyone.
Ma Zhenhua was the first to react. He hurriedly stepped in front of Mu Yiran and looked at him hopefully: "Brother Mu, can I...can I share a tent with you? Please!"
Before Mu Yiran could speak, he heard the plump young girl with glasses shout, "Wait a minute! Can you listen to me?"
Everyone's eyes turned to her.
After the initial daze and fear, the girl with glasses was surprisingly calmer than the other newcomers. Although her face was still pale and her voice was still trembling, she said, "What I want to say is that although I don't know what terrible things will happen next, I think that at times like this, we should all demonstrate the spirit of collectivism. Whether it's a novel or a movie, you should all know that people who fight alone never have a good ending."
Seeing that everyone was listening, the girl with glasses seemed to be a little encouraged. She pointed at Qin Cimu, Yiran, Ke Xun and the others and continued, "It can be seen that you guys should be experienced people and you all know each other well. Relatively speaking, people like us don't know anything about this...'world' at all. We are very passive and helpless. Generally speaking, people like us are the most likely to lose their lives.
"So I sincerely hope and implore you to help us out of humanitarian spirit. After all, there is strength in numbers. If we are alive, it will definitely be helpful to you. The fewer people there are, the greater the danger, isn't it?
"I beg you to help us so that everyone can survive. If we all work together and find a way to leave, it will be much greater than the strength of only four or five of you, right?
“I feel like there’s something wrong with that guy just now. He deliberately stated that each tent can only accommodate two people at most. I think there must be something wrong. I have a hunch that something might happen tonight.
"In this situation, I beg you to be kind to us and not let us face it alone, okay?
"So what I mean is... can you experienced people please lead us inexperienced people to live in tents one by one and give us more chances to survive? Please! I beg you! I believe you are all good people, kind people, please!"
Ke Xun couldn't help but look at the girl with glasses a few more times.
It’s true that you can’t judge a book by its cover.
This girl with glasses has clear thoughts and speaks logically. What's rare is that she can still remain calm in this situation, which is better than most men.
The newcomers to the painting are not all weaklings.
