Volume 1 Chapter 55: Unsuccessful Surrender
Flying has always been the ultimate ideal of mankind to conquer the sky.
Whether in the ordinary world or in the magical world, the only difference is that wizards invented props such as brooms and flying carpets earlier, and after realizing that humans could hardly complete flight with their own strength, they chose to rely on external forces.
But throughout history, there have been many aspiring wizards who want to break free from the constraints of the ground by relying solely on their own abilities.
But the only person who was recorded to be able to do this was Voldemort.
That ball of magic could turn his body into black mist, allowing him to fly in the sky without restrictions, and he also taught this magic to Snape.
As for people like Dumbledore and Grindelwald, who are also at the ceiling level of the wizarding world, they may be able to fly with the help of their powerful magic, but this is definitely not a systematic magic, otherwise they would not have kept it secret from their subordinates.
From this aspect, it can be seen that Voldemort is indeed extremely talented, at least in studying magic.
But over the years, there has only been one Voldemort in the wizarding world.
Slughorn never learned the spell on the ring, but he read all the magic information left by his old friend.
Ring casting only changes the target of the spell and will never provide any strengthening effect on the spell itself.
In other words, he always believed that John might be able to fly purely by relying on the levitation spell in the future, but the process would be very, very long, perhaps twenty, thirty or even fifty years, but definitely not now.
But the scene before him was not fake at all. Jon just used the and chanted a normal levitation spell to fly up!
The ceiling of the storage room is much higher than that of the dormitory, nearly six meters high. Jon can freely control his height and direction while floating in the air.
He actually made an equivalent substitution to the core of the levitation spell, changing the simple core of the will to fly into the core of controlling gravity to fly.
Nothing else has changed, so the normal control method of the levitation spell has not changed.
But Jon was very clear that the biggest flaw of his current state was that he couldn't last too long.
Even though he had spent the past few months practicing the "Floating Spell" to the point of being proficient in it, he could only maintain the effect stably for no more than a minute.
Slughorn had recovered from his shock. He raised the wand in his hand, and the poisonous snakes covering the ground began to crawl towards the wall. After touching the wall, they turned into vines that continued to grow, and began to spread towards John with the wall as the foundation.
"You really gave me enough surprises today, Jon." Even though they were now facing each other with swords, the fat walrus was still not stingy with his praise for Jon. "It has only been a short time, less than half a year, from the time you really started to learn this way of casting spells to now, and you have already mastered this spell to the most perfect level."
"But even if you act shockingly, and you can actually fly with this spell, will the result change?"
John's eyes were still fixed on the crack in Slughorn's Shield Charm. His palms, tightly gripping his wand, were sweating, and rapidly spreading vines were already breaking into the space within twenty centimeters around him.
Slughorn's wand remained in the same position when he swung it upwards when casting the Transfiguration Charm. Even though John had given him many surprises today, he never felt that his student could really stop him.
Because John has been exposed to magic for such a short time, so short that most students who can use the levitation spell normally at this time can be considered very talented.
What he has achieved today has already surpassed almost all of his peers, but after all, he is only 11 years old.
The vines formed by Transfiguration that completely blocked the space around him could actually be solved with a simple universal spell. The seemingly indestructible Armor Charm on Slughorn could be broken by any spell if his magic power was stronger.
Jon will definitely be able to do these things in the future, but he obviously can't do them now.
In battle, the only things he could use to protect himself were the Levitation Charm for his body, and the Stunning Charm for attack. After Slughorn cracked both of these, it seemed as if he had no other means at all.
But just as the vines controlled by Slughorn touched the corner of his clothes and were about to tie him up, Jon chanted a spell for the third time in this battle!
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
Completely different from the previous two times, this time he finally waved his wand, and the direction the tip of the wand was pointing at was Slughorn who was under the protection of , or to be more precise, the wand he was holding in his hand!
Without any spell beam being emitted, the magic power invisibly passed through the broken gap of the Armor Charm, and its effect instantly affected the wand held lightly in Slughorn's hand!
Because he was totally unprepared, Slughorn had no chance to react at all. A strong force ripped the wand from his hand, and it floated into the air!
John used this levitation spell to produce the same effect as the disarming spell, but without any warning, without the need for the armor-breaking spell, and without giving people any time to react.
As the wand flew out of his hand, Slughorn froze.
But Jon did not give up this excellent opportunity that he had worked so hard to design. He struggled to break free from the vines that had been wrapped around his ankles, stretched out his other hand that was not holding the wand, and grabbed the fat walrus's wand floating in the air!
However, just when his fingertips had touched the shaft of the magic wand, the magic wand suddenly seemed to have self-awareness and moved away from John's outstretched hand!
The "Floating Spell" cast on it also lost control, and the wand fell deftly back into Slughorn's hand!
Jon's eyes widened at this incredible scene. He had never heard of a wizard being able to control his wand and take it back after it was disarmed!
Slughorn, who had grasped the wand again, finally came to his senses. He had a look of fear on his face, and then he swung the wand without hesitation to speed up the growth of the vines.
Jon, who had really used up all his means, was trapped tightly like a dumpling this time, and completely lost any possibility of resistance.
