Volume 1 Chapter 50 Snape
The night sky is exceptionally dark tonight.
Although Neville and the others who were playing mahjong in the bright lounge did not notice it, Jon, who had been a little uneasy since he entered the lounge, kept looking out the window.
"It's your turn to draw a card, Jon. What's wrong with you?" Lavender looked at him worriedly. "Is it really too hard to practice spells? I can see that you can't concentrate."
Jon didn't say anything. Even when Lavender spoke, he didn't make any move to grab a card. He just stared out the window.
"Even if it's about to rain, can the sky get this dark?"
His breathing became much heavier than before, and upon hearing his question, Neville and the others turned their eyes away from the card game and looked up at the inky black sky outside the window.
The dark clouds seemed to have completely covered the entire night sky. Not a single ray of light could penetrate. Only the occasional lightning and thunder from the other side of the sky that they could not see could make the darkness disappear for a moment.
"It's going to rain heavily soon."
Neville said quietly.
Just as he finished speaking, the sky, which was like a black cloth, suddenly flashed with countless points of light!
Those light spots were all made up of red and green. At this moment, a flash of lightning like a long snake suddenly flashed by, illuminating the half of the sky that they could see.
The darkness covering the night sky was not dark clouds at all, but hundreds of wizards wearing black robes and riding on flying brooms (note)!
All kinds of dazzling spell lights flickered on the tips of their wands, and the next second, just as Neville said, heavy rain began to fall outside the carriage.
It’s just that this heavy rain is made up of countless spells falling from the sky like rain!
“BOOM!!!”
Under the belated thunder, the whole carriage also shook violently with the loud noise, and the swing was so big that it seemed to overturn the carriage directly to the ground!
Screams, shouts, and cries rang out in the lounge.
The students were all stunned by this sudden situation. Most of them were knocked to the ground. The chandelier on the ceiling kept shaking, and the carriage was in complete chaos.
When John saw the spells falling, he pulled Neville and the others to the ground without hesitation.
There are protective measures placed outside the carriage by Dumbledore himself, which can block the effects of most spells, but the impact caused by the strong impact force cannot be offset by the protective magic.
There was a flurry of footsteps in the corridor outside the lounge, and Mag's anxious voice could be heard faintly.
"Don't panic! Don't get confused! Everyone, go to the restaurant! Everyone, gather in the restaurant!"
The little wizard took action quickly after hearing her words. Although this attack happened suddenly, with the experience of the previous two times, at least now the students knew what they should do at the first moment.
Jon and the others helped each other to stand up from the ground, and then ran out of the lounge together.
The carriage had been stabilized and not overturned by the horrible rain of spells, but the speed of the carriage had obviously increased countless times. Normally, there was no bumping at all, but now it felt like running wildly in a pile of rocks, and if Jon and the others hadn't held on to the wall of the corridor, they would have had no way to move forward.
All the students gathered in the cafeteria, and the pale-faced Head Student was helping Filch, who was unable to conceal his fear, to count the number of people.
The professors gathered in front of Dumbledore's office as soon as the attack happened, but Dumbledore pushed open the door leading to Hagrid's driving seat.
He held a wand in his hand, as if he had just helped Hagrid to stabilize the carriage and keep it running normally. The magic that originally blocked the strong wind in front of the carriage had been completely destroyed, and his gray hair and beard were flying wildly on his face.
"This time is different from the previous two times, everyone." Dumbledore's voice was very steady. This familiar tone slightly soothed the professors' nervous hearts. "They almost came out in full force, Aurors, Death Eaters, and surrounded us."
Flitwick used his only left arm to hold the wand upright in front of him, and his calm voice was like someone instructing students in class not to pronounce the "f" in spells as "s".
"Then we have to prepare to fight our way out now."
Lily had already waved her brand new, well-maintained wand, and the worn-out broomstick fell steadily into her hands.
Magg, on the other hand, had a frown on her face. She was not as calm as Flitwick, nor did she have Lily's strong desire to fight. Instead, she was concerned about the safety of the students in the carriage.
"We haven't found the intruder yet, Albus. If we all leave, who will protect the children?"
Dumbledore raised his arm, and Fawkes flew over lightly, looking up at the professors.
"Go to the square and ask Kingsley and the others to come over."
There was a flash of golden-red light, and Fox disappeared before their eyes.
After doing all this, the professors left the carriage. Slughorn, Lily, McGonagall, and Flitwick stood guard in the four directions of the speeding carriage, while Dumbledore was right above the carriage, looking up at the black-robed, black-haired wizard who was leading the Death Eaters and Aurors.
Not only did he see him, but Lily, who had just risen into the sky, also saw him.
The next moment, a sharp roar filled with hatred and resentment resounded throughout the night sky.
"Severus Snape!!!"
The real rain began to fall.
It was as if someone had opened a water valve in the sky and started cleaning the mud in the world.
Lightning flashed across the night sky again, and the flashing light also illuminated Snape's pale and indifferent face.
Lily's figure was reflected in his empty pupils, and there was no other emotion in his eyes, as if he saw a stranger.
"Remember what the master told me." His voice was low but loud enough for every Death Eater and Auror present to hear. "Now, let's begin."
The wizards in black robes began to lower their brooms and looked towards the speeding carriage, just like hunters eyeing their prey and swooping down!
The rain was pouring down, and all kinds of spells were flying through the rain, shooting towards the four people guarding the carriage!
No one targeted Lily, as if everyone had a tacit understanding and deliberately left her for Snape, who was still floating in the sky shrouded in a black mist.
After seeing Snape, Lily no longer had eyes for anyone else. She raised the height of her broom without hesitation and pointed the wand in her hand at the man.
“Ah~”
There was sarcasm in Snape's voice as he called out the name of the girl who once sat with him on the grass in Spinner's End, fantasizing about the magical world.
"Long time no see, Lily...Potter!"
