Volume 1 Chapter 36 Second Night Raid
Jon hurriedly helped Slughorn, who was covered in blood, up from the ground.
"professor!"
The old walrus' face was pale, obviously due to excessive blood loss. He fumbled out a bottle of potion from his robe pocket and waved to Jon.
"Don't worry, you won't die."
At the last moment when the Exploding Curse took effect, in order to protect the student in front of him, Slughorn only had time to use a Silencing Shield Charm.
The effect of a silently cast spell must be weakened. Although this spell saved his life and the lives of his students, it also made Slughorn lose the ability to fight back. He could only use Apparition to escape to the side of the carriage under the cover of Dumbledore's magic.
Lily and Magg, who were originally settling the students in the carriage, heard the noise and ran out.
They saw Slughorn, who was covered in blood and drinking a blood-replenishing potion. They also saw black-robed wizards wearing metal masks and holding wands emerging from the woods one after another at the edge of the red flames.
These people are obviously not Aurors. Even in the Ministry of Magic under Voldemort's control, the Aurors who maintain order in the wizarding world will never be allowed to face the public in such a horrible image.
The tattoo-like pattern of a poisonous tongue passing through a skull embroidered on the left sleeve of their robes exposed their identities.
There is only one organization in the entire wizarding world that is qualified to embroider this symbol called the Dark Mark on their clothes.
Death Eaters!
Once the man's diehard fans, he was now the one who controlled it all, with power far greater than that of the wizarding guards at Auror Command.
Seeing those metal masks, every professor at Hogwarts knew that this attack was obviously different from the previous minor fight.
Lily's hands were shaking.
She looked at the Death Eaters shrouded in darkness, her eyes filled with bloodshot hatred.
Mag sensed her change in mood and couldn't help but frown .
"Lily, help Horace in and take a look..."
"Professor!" She interrupted McGonagall with gritted teeth.
Lily and Magg stared at each other, and her overflowing emotions were impossible to ignore.
Magg sighed, and she and Jon held Slughorn's arm.
"I know you've never let it go. I'm going to look after the students. You stay here and be careful."
Lily jumped off the carriage without hesitation, and the cold night wind blew the hem of her robe with snowflakes.
Looking at the masked Death Eaters not far away, her sharp and resentful voice pierced the night sky.
"Severus Snape where is he!"
All the Death Eaters were silent, no one responded to her, but the tip of everyone's wand was flashing red!
"Everyone is petrified!"
No one used the Killing Curse, and no one used spells like the Exploding Curse that had a chance of killing people, but the scene of dozens of Petrifying Curses being fired at the same time was still horrifying!
But the red flame that never went out rose up, and the dense petrifying melted instantly the moment they came into contact with the flame, just like snow meeting fire!
Lily didn't care whether they answered or not. Snape was just one of her biggest enemies, but that didn't mean she would turn a blind eye to Voldemort's other men.
These people didn't dare to kill her, but Lily dared to fight back!
"Thunder explosion!"
This is almost the spell with the strongest and widest area of damage among all spells.
The Death Eater who attacked first did not use the Killing Curse but chose the Exploding Curse, hoping to kill two people with one spell.
When she was studying at Hogwarts, she was a genius in Gryffindor. Although she was born in a Muggle family, she was favored by Slytherin Headmaster Slughorn because of her extraordinary magical talent.
During the years of exile, hatred and constant conflicts with people from the Ministry of Magic made her strength increase at a rate beyond ordinary people's imagination.
A much louder roar than the previous explosive spell exploded among the crowd of Death Eaters!
Countless transparent light shields were infected by the flames and turned into bright golden red. A sound like glass breaking was heard, and the Armor Charms that had been worn by more than a dozen Death Eaters were blown to pieces!
The Death Eaters began to disperse quickly. They raised their wands to deal with the red flames cast by Dumbledore while fighting back at Lily and Flitwick.
For a moment, red and green lights shone in the forest that was originally only black and white!
Inside the carriage.
After McGonagall and John helped Slughorn onto the carriage, Hagrid immediately pulled the reins, and the carriage, which had been stagnant for a day, started running again.
After sending Slughorn to the carriage's infirmary, they returned to the restaurant together.
The old walrus' condition wasn't too bad. As long as he was still conscious, he had enough means to take care of his injuries and there was no need for anyone to watch over him.
McGonagall did not forget that there might be someone hiding in the carriage who should not be there. The attack by the Death Eaters tonight further confirmed her previous guess.
The whereabouts of the Hogwarts carriage are completely unplanned. Even Hagrid, who is driving the carriage, may not know in advance where they are going that day, unless there is someone on the carriage sending out the route in real time!
If the last night attack could be explained by coincidence, then the second attack happened just three months later, which could never be a coincidence.
Just in case, she once again gathered all the students in the cafeteria, and she herself stayed there the whole time.
The students' originally happy Christmas mood completely turned into fear and terror at this moment. Everyone huddled in their sleeping bags, few people fell asleep, but no one made a sound, only the occasional sobbing of a few timid girls could be heard.
After entering the restaurant, Jon could choose a place to sleep close to the door. Neville and the others didn't understand his behavior, because the place near the door was the coldest in the whole house and no student would choose to sleep here.
But Jon didn't explain so much to them. After getting into the sleeping bag given by Professor McGonagall, he waited quietly with his face facing the crack of the door.
The cold wind blew Jon's bangs through the crack in the door, and his face was a little numb from the cold, but he had no intention of moving to another place to sleep peacefully.
He felt that there might be a possibility that the purpose of the Death Eaters outside was not actually to keep or kill them, but to prevent the carriage from being in its current condition.
Most of the professors were not there, and the students were gathered together. Except for the dining room and the infirmary, all other rooms in the carriage were completely empty!
