Volume 1 Chapter 33 Christmas
After McGonagall returned from Dumbledore's office, she simply warned all the students that if they met a stranger in the carriage, they should first ensure their own safety, then find a way to inform the professor, and finally evacuate the students gathered in the dining hall.
Not only the senior wizards, but also the freshmen were somewhat puzzled by such an anticlimactic way of handling the matter.
"I thought the professor would conduct a major search of the entire carriage." Neville frowned and said, "Isn't this a bit too relaxed?"
When Jon first arrived at the restaurant and learned that someone had secretly opened a room that shouldn't have been opened, he fell into deep thought. When he heard Neville's words, he was relieved.
"Don't worry, Professor McGonagall and the others will definitely not joke about our safety. Maybe there is something we don't know."
Ron and the other two were not so worried about this. They had absolute trust in every professor and had no objection to Professor McGonagall's decision in private.
Two more days passed like this, and the carriage was always calm and nothing unexpected happened.
It was at this time that Christmas came.
Normally speaking, Christmas in British schools is the dividing line between the first and second semesters of a school year. After the Christmas holidays, the second half of the school year will officially begin.
But for Hogwarts, which is in exile, students do not even have holidays during the summer vacation, and naturally they will not be allowed to go home at Christmas.
Even those pure-blood students who have families, such as Ron and Neville, have to spend Christmas in school. However, after Christmas, the school will not have classes for two weeks, and they can go home and reunite with their families for a few days.
Early in the morning on Christmas Day, when Jon woke up, he saw a gift box half his size placed in front of his bed.
He looked at Neville with some confusion. There was also a gift box next to his bed, and there were a few .
"Who sent this gift?"
As Jon asked the question, he grabbed the colorful ribbon on the gift box, and then he saw a line of beautiful English cursive on it.
[Wish Jon Green a Merry Christmas and a Happy Everyday]
The signature below the blessing is not a person's name, but just "Hogwarts".
"I heard that every Christmas the school prepares a gift for each little wizard on the carriage. It's actually true!"
When Neville returned to Jon, he had already opened the big gift box with great interest.
Inside was a dark blue robe, large and small packages of magical candies and fruit sodas that they had seen and had not seen before, as well as enough parchment, ink and seventeen or eighteen quills for them to use for the next two or three years.
There was a small gift box inside the big gift box. Neville opened the small box and immediately let out a cry of surprise.
"It's hellebore!"
He looked at a flower planted in a pot in the gift box with fascination.
Of course, Jon also knew that plant. In the magical world, it is called hellebore, and it is one of the ingredients of the demulcent. Among Muggles, its scientific name is Christmas rose, and it is an ornamental plant used for Christmas.
Neville was very fond of the Herbology course, and he was even obsessed with some magical plants. Ever since he saw the pot of hellebore in Magg's office, he had been talking about it with John in private for an unknown period of time.
Now he finally received the pot of flowers as he wished.
Jon also opened his gift box. In addition to the candies, snacks and study supplies in the big gift box which were the same as Neville's, he also received a dark green robe.
His body size should have been measured by Professor McGonagall in a Transfiguration class a week ago. At that time, he was still curious about why he had to measure this when studying Transfiguration.
There was also a small gift box on top of these things. After Jon opened the gift box, he took out three thick books from it.
They are "Encyclopedia of Low- and Intermediate-Level Spells", "Transfiguration and Transfigurationists", and " Hogwarts: A History".
The three books belong to Charms, Transfiguration and History of Magic respectively. These three categories of books are the books that Jon has borrowed most from the library since the beginning of the school year.
The professors who prepare Christmas gifts for their students really put a lot of thought into this.
Looking at the things in his hands, a smile unconsciously appeared on Jon's face.
Just as they were opening the presents, the carriage that had been moving suddenly shook and then stopped.
Hagrid's deep voice rang out from the carriage.
"Kids, you can get off the bus and prepare for today's festival!"
Jon and Neville packed up the gifts together and then walked out of the dormitory together.
The other students had already run along the corridor towards the lobby with joy. They had been staying in the carriage almost every day since the start of the school year and had been suffocated for a long time. Today was undoubtedly a day for them to relax.
"Hurry up! You are too slow!" Ron and Justin did not get off the carriage first, but waited for them to come out in front of Jon and his roommates' dormitory.
The four of them then met up with Lavender in the lobby, where the girls' dormitory was, and the five of them walked out of the carriage together.
Outside was a forest completely covered in snow, with spruce trees everywhere. Some were dozens of meters tall, while others were only as tall as an adult.
The venue chosen by Hagrid was very clever. The carriage stopped at an open space in the woods. The ground was covered with snow. When the students got off the carriage, he and Flitwick were waving their wands to clear the snow from the open space.
The first to rush out were the Weasley twins. They cheered and jumped off the carriage, with half of their calves buried in the snow.
Then they winked at each other and in unison waved their wands at the snow on the ground. Two snowballs gathered at the tips of their wands. They guided the snowballs and waved their wands in unison, swinging them towards the boy who had just stepped off the carriage, who also had red hair and glasses!
“Bang!”
Snowballs exploded in Percy's face one after another.
The little wizards around Percy all burst into laughter, and Percy's face turned red as he shouted the twins' names angrily.
"George! Fred! I want to write to Mother!"
"When are you going to change your lines?" Fred made a disdainful face at him, then ran away into the woods with George.
Flitwick shouted after them.
"Remember! Stay within the range I drew for you!"
"Of course we are the most obedient, professor!" The two responded in harmony without even looking back.
