Volume 1 Chapter 31 Intruder

A week before Christmas, snow began to fall in most parts of the UK.
In his spare time, Jon would occasionally go to sit with Hagrid, drinking tea, eating biscuits, and watching the snow falling outside the carriage.
But most of the rest of the time is spent studying in the carriage.
His progress in learning Occlumency had surpassed Slughorn's original expectations, and before Christmas, he had already built a crude "wall" in his mind.
Although he was not yet able to construct false memories outside the "wall" to achieve the most perfect level of Occlumency, he had already met Slughorn's initial teaching requirements for him.
As for learning how to cast spells with the ring, Slughorn did not intend to start before Christmas. Instead, he gave Jon a week off so that he would not be so tight on time. No matter how hard he worked, he had to know how to balance work and rest.
Of course, Jon himself knows this truth.
So this week, he had been chatting or playing chess with Neville and the others in the lounge after dinner. There was a lack of entertainment for wizards, especially in a carriage. Even Quidditch, the most famous ball sport in the wizarding world, could not be played, so students could only find fun on their own.
The so-called wizard chess is actually a piece of chess that comes to life and can act according to human verbal commands. After playing a few games, Jon found it boring, so he asked Hagrid to help him find a lot of stones of suitable hardness . Then he went to Professor Flitwick to help use the top-notch Crushing Spell to cut the stones into cubes of the same size. Finally, Jon carved cylinders, strips, and English numbers from one to ninety thousand on the cubes according to the patterns in his memory, and made a simple set of mahjong.

Of course, it would be more convenient to use Transfiguration to create a set directly, but it was impossible for Jon to remember the patterns on each tile so clearly at once, and there was a time limit to maintain the Transfiguration after all. So it took him three days to make a set of tiles without knowing whether it had all the tiles.
The rules of mahjong are very simple. In fact, there are many mahjong enthusiasts in the UK, and they hold competitions from time to time. The rules are just slightly different from those in China.
But this is only limited to Muggle society. Mahjong has certainly not been introduced to the wizarding world. The set of mahjong that Jon has made now is probably the first set of mahjong for British wizards.
I just explained the rules to Naviron and the others and played a few rounds with them, and they basically understood how to play this kind of diamond card game.
Then the five freshmen completely gave up on Wizard Chess and became addicted to playing Diamond Cards in the lounge after class every day.
"Two barrels."
In the warm lounge, Lavender hesitated for a long time before she tapped one of the cards in front of her with her wand and used a levitation spell to make it fly to the center of the table.
And just as she finished her words, Ron excitedly swung his wand and pushed all the cards in front of him .
"Aha! I messed up!"
Justin immediately showed an expression of relief on his face. Even if he didn't win, he didn't lose much.
Neville looked at Ron's cards in confusion. He was only one card away from winning.
Lavender looked frustrated. Even if they were just playing casually when they were bored, there was actually no stakes. She was still very unhappy because she kept losing today.
After teaching them, Jon, who had been watching the game with great interest from the side, guided Lavender.
"You are still relying on luck to win now, but playing this kind of cards cannot rely entirely on luck. You have to guess other people's business ideas based on the cards they play."
In fact, he is just good at talking theory but his actual card skills are terrible. He only played the game a few times with his college roommates in the dormitory in his previous life. The reason why he pretends to be mysterious and doesn't play now is purely because he knows that as Neville and the others are getting more and more skilled, he can no longer beat them and doesn't want to break the founder's unbeaten record.
"Shuffle! Shuffle!"
Just as Ron was shouting, the door of the lounge was suddenly pushed open forcefully from the outside.

Filch's old face full of wrinkles and age spots glared at the jumpy Ron fiercely, then shouted at everyone in the lounge in a sharp voice.
"Everyone come out and gather in the restaurant!"
After saying that, he turned around and left angrily, as if to inform other students who were still in the dormitory.
Not only Jon and his friends, but every student in the lounge looked at each other, not knowing what was going on.
"Let's go and check out the restaurant first."
Jon led the way towards the dining hall, and Neville and the others followed him to the dining hall. Most of the students had already gathered here, and Magg stood in front of the students with a serious face.
But after seeing Magg, Jon knew very well that this was definitely not a small problem, because it could only be a big deal that could make the vice-president show up.
It was not until Filch gathered all the students on the carriage that Jon and the others understood what had happened.
Someone broke into the unmarked and locked room again!
This time the intruder was very clever and didn't reveal any clues, but after what happened last time, Filch asked Flitwick to cast a small spell on every door that students were not allowed to enter without permission. As long as the door had been opened, there would be traces left on it.
And now Filch had apparently found signs of one of the doors being opened, and without hesitation he reported the matter directly to McGonagall.
This was no small matter. Those rooms that students were not allowed to enter without permission either contained dangerous magical animals or plants, such as Thestrals, or stored some dangerous but valuable magical items brought out of Hogwarts Castle.
Now that these rooms have been broken into quietly twice in a row, we must get to the bottom of this.
Frowning at all the students present, McGonagall's stern voice rang out in the cafeteria.
"I believe this may be an unintentional act by someone. He didn't mean to steal anything, he just broke in accidentally. Now, as long as this person takes the initiative to stand up and admit his mistake, I won't impose too strict a punishment on him."
McGonagall has always been very authoritative among the students, and no one would doubt what she said.
But the students at the scene just looked at each other, and no one wanted to stand up and take responsibility for this matter.
Seeing this scene, Mag's brows furrowed even deeper.
"Filch, please go again and ask Filius to come over for me."
