Volume 1 Chapter 27 Occlumency

"You should know that this is a special period!"
Filch's shrill voice echoed in the corridor, and he glared fiercely at every student present.
"The person who did this had better come to me and confess immediately. I might be able to show leniency and punish him according to normal school rules! But if no one admits it and I catch him in the end , I will make him regret not coming to me to confess his mistake now!"
The students looked at each other, and it seemed that no one wanted to admit their mistakes. Filch's threats seemed more like a show of strength than a weakness. He actually had no clue to investigate further, and finally at lunch time, the matter was left unresolved.
During lunch, Jon looked at Ron suspiciously.
"You guys didn't do this, did you?"
Ron immediately shook his head like a rattle.
"How is that possible? I haven't opened the door randomly since I was punished last time. If you don't believe me, ask Neville. He has been with us all morning. He will definitely stop us if he is here."
Neville nodded.
"We did stay in the common room this morning, but what did you do this morning?"
Jon didn't hide this too much. He would have to go to Slughorn's office every night from now on, and Neville, who shared the same dormitory with him, would find out sooner or later.

"Professor Slughorn wants to teach me something privately and asks me to come to his office every evening for a few days."
Hearing his words, Ron and Justin both showed sympathetic expressions on their faces.
"Then you will have much less spare time in the future."
Lavender rolled her eyes at them both.
"You think everyone is like you?"
Neville patted Jon's shoulder happily.
"This is a good thing for you. Professor Slughorn is very respected in the wizarding world, both in the past and now. He is the only one in this carriage who is not wanted by the Ministry of Magic. You will definitely learn something from him."
Jon was a little curious about this.
"Why is Professor Slughorn the only one not wanted?"
Before Neville could say anything, Ron rushed in and spoke in a low voice.
"Because he was the headmaster of Slytherin House, and he held this position longer than Dumbledore was the headmaster of Hogwarts. Almost all the pure-blood officials in the Ministry of Magic now are his students and were taken care of by him during school. There are rumors that even that man was once Professor Slughorn's favorite student. So if the professor didn't come to us and he went to another place, he would definitely get higher power and fame. Now he is our professor, and the Ministry of Magic has not said anything about this matter, as if it didn't know about it at all. I heard from the adults that this should be done by that man on purpose."
Jon pondered Ron's words.
He certainly didn't think that Voldemort treated Slughorn this way out of old friendship. For a man for whom the title of Dark Lord was more suitable, feelings were as complete rubbish as the so-called ideals. Only power and dictatorship were what he really cared about.
John felt that the main reason why Slughorn was able to be on Dumbledore's side but Voldemort did not push him too hard was because he had the secret of Voldemort's immortality.
Now, Jon didn't know whether Slughorn had told Dumbledore about this secret, and Voldemort certainly didn't know either. In this way, he was telling his former headmaster that he had left room for him and hoped that the fat walrus would be smarter. There are some things that can be done, but there are some words that cannot be said.
Of course, the premise of these speculations is that Voldemort's arrangement of the Horcruxes remains the same as in the original work, without any changes.

The situation in the entire wizarding world is in chaos now. Who knows what happened to those Horcruxes?
Jon didn't think too much about these things that he couldn't touch for the time being. All he could do now was to work hard to improve his self-protection capabilities.
This attack caused the students on the carriage to be terrified for a day, but there was no further follow-up.
It seemed just as Dumbledore said, the Aurors who attacked Hogwarts simply discovered the whereabouts of the carriage by accident during a patrol, and before the support from the Ministry of Magic arrived, the trouble had already been solved by the professors.
Except for the tense atmosphere in the carriage a week after the attack, the tense atmosphere gradually dissipated as time went by and the school returned to normal teaching life.
In the spells class in the third week of school, Jon finally learned the first spell in his life - the levitation spell.
This is also the first spell that almost every wizard comes into contact with after learning magic. It is not difficult to cast, and the effect is only to make light objects fly and heavy objects become lighter. It is a simple but very practical spell.
Just as Slughorn said, Jon's talent for magic was indeed very good. In the Charms class, he was the first student among the five freshmen to successfully use the Levitation Charm. Even Neville, who already had experience in casting spells, did not succeed in making the feather on the desk float.
For this reason, Flitwick, whose leg injury had completely healed, excitedly exempted Jon from his Charms class homework.
On the same day, Slughorn officially began teaching Jon.
"Learning Occlumency has nothing to do with what I'm going to teach you later."
There was a stone basin on Slughorn's desk. The basin looked very old and could be called an antique.
"The main purpose of learning this magic is to protect what I will teach you later, as well as the existence of this ring. There are many means in the magic world that can change a person's memory, such as potions, spells, and some people are even born with the ability to read people's minds. Occlumency is undoubtedly the best protection against these means."
John naturally knew the effects of Occlumency. Even if Slughorn didn't take the initiative to teach him now, he would find other ways to learn this magic later.
The memories of his past life in his mind were extremely important. If they were not protected, in this dangerous magical world, he would be exposing his memories to others nakedly.
But now Jon was concerned about how Slughorn would teach him.
If Snape were to directly invade Harry's memory in order to speed up his brain training like he did in the original book when he taught him Occlumency , there would be no way John would be able to accept it.
