Volume 1 Chapter 22 Night Raid

"...Jupiter is our main study object this semester. In addition to studying the planet itself, we will also learn about its satellites. I will ask each of you to draw a star map of Jupiter, so during class, I hope you will not be distracted."
When Flitwick was explaining the learning goals for this semester and reminding them to concentrate, Jon's mind was actually no longer in the classroom.
He was still thinking about the ring that had inexplicably appeared on him in Slughorn's office at noon.
The ring was still on his body, or rather, Jon couldn't get rid of it at all. As long as it was more than three meters away from him, it would automatically appear on the index finger of his right hand.
Jon didn't wear the ring on his hand. Not to mention that it was not certain whether the ring was dangerous or not, the fact that an 11-year-old boy wore a ring on his index finger to propose love (wearing a ring on the index finger means being single and willing to interact with the opposite sex) was very strange in itself.
Although Slughorn assured him that there was no danger, this could not make Jon completely reassure. Judging from the performance of this fat old man in the original book, he was indeed a very principled person, but this could only make Jon give him one day.
If the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor did not give him an answer acceptable to him by tomorrow, Jon would not hesitate at all and would take the ring directly to Dumbledore.
Maybe Dumbledore would plot against him, but he would never push him into the fire.
The carriage had left the town and arrived at a quiet country road. Jon gathered his thoughts, and just as he was about to focus all his attention on the classroom, he suddenly noticed out of the corner of his eye that a few dark shadows were quietly passing through the bright starry sky.

He didn't pay much attention to it at first, thinking that they were just a few owls hunting at night, but he soon came to his senses.
There's no way an owl could be that big!
Jon clearly realized that something was wrong. He stood up and interrupted Flitwick's class in a hurry.
"Professor! Look up at the sky!"
Everyone on the roof looked up at the sky as he said. Under the clear night sky, they could clearly see a dozen figures in black robes riding on brooms, always flying above the carriage!
Compared to the confusion on the students' faces at the beginning, Flitwick's face was frighteningly pale at this moment!
"Go back! Get back to the carriage! Quick!"
While shouting at John and the others, he raised his wand with his only remaining left hand without hesitation!
"The alarm bells are ringing!"
An extremely piercing scream, like the harpy in the legend, was heard.
Jon was the first to react to Flitwick's words. He grabbed the arms of Ron and Justin, who were still in a daze with their mouths open, and dragged them towards the entrance of the stairs!
Neville reacted only a second slower than Jon, and he also grabbed Lavender's arm and followed him.
The people in black robes riding on flying broomsticks in the sky also noticed the situation below the carriage. They no longer kept tracking horizontally, but pressed down the handles of their broomsticks together and dived towards the carriage!
Flitwick did not return to the carriage with John and the others. After giving the warning, he used a Flying Spell without any hesitation.
"Come on, broomstick!"
A sound of breaking air was heard at the rear of the carriage, and then a somewhat broken flying broom hovered in front of him.
Flitwick sat on the broom. Because he was missing one arm and had to hold the wand with his other hand, he could only press his entire front half of his body on the broom handle and use magic to help him stay on the broom.
The broken broom carried the one-armed wizard dueling champion into the sky.
"Protect the Thestrals , Hagrid!"
Hagrid, who had been awakened by the alarm long ago, pulled out a wand that was slightly longer than normal from the little red umbrella. While steadying the frightened Thestrals, he shouted a warning to Flitwick.
"be careful!"
When Jon and the other four hurriedly returned to the carriage, the long corridor was already lit up with bright lights.

The door of every dormitory was opened, and many students stuck their heads out, not knowing what was going on. But there were also some experienced students in grades six and seven who hurried out in their pajamas.
"All students, gather in the cafeteria! All students!"
The seventh-grade student president shouted and began to gather the students to the cafeteria, including Jon and the other four who had just come down from the car roof.
The professors on the bus had gathered in front of the entrance hall as soon as Flitwick issued the warning , and everyone except Dumbledore was holding a broomstick.
"Are Kingsley and the others in the square tonight?" Dumbledore asked in a deep voice.
"No, they are currently in Finland, dealing with the matters you gave them before. There are only Molly and Tonks in the square."
It was Lily who answered him. Her face was calm, but her slightly trembling hand holding the wand revealed her true emotions.
It was not fear or terror, but more like a deep-rooted hatred and impatience.
Mag's face was gloomy.
"Why, they can find..."
"Now is not the time for this, Minerva."
Dumbledore interrupted McGonagall, drew his wand, and led the way out of the carriage.
"Horace stays in the carriage and watches the students, Hagrid protects the Thestrals, and I will take you to help Filius."
He completed the entire deployment with just a simple sentence, and the three people who heard the order carried out it without hesitation .
Slughorn ran towards the dining hall where the students were, while McGonagall and Lily both got on their broomsticks and rushed out of the entrance hall!
Hagrid, who was in the driving seat of the carriage, was holding the reins tightly at this time!
"John! Randy! Ort! Don't panic! Learn from Smith and the others! Stay calm! Run faster! Run!"
With Hagrid's comfort, the Thestrals gradually recovered from their initial shock. They began to move their hooves at a faster frequency, and their broad bat-like wings that were originally folded on their backs began to slowly spread out!
The speed of the carriage increased by who knows how many times in an instant, and it galloped forward rapidly in the fields in the dark night!
Inside the carriage, after the student president and two male and female prefects counted the number of people for the third time, Slughorn pushed the door and walked in.
Most of the students had fear and anxiety on their faces. They looked at the only professor in the carriage, but Slughorn just said a few words of comfort, and the panic on almost everyone's face disappeared.
"Don't worry, Dumbledore has passed."
