Volume 1 Chapter 11 The Shore of the Sea
The cluster of silver sparks attracted the attention of everyone present.
Neville and the others looked confused, Professor McGonagall showed surprise on her face, and only Dumbledore was stunned looking at the wand in John's hand.
This is a wand that is about 14 inches long. The wand is straight and the surface is very smooth. It seems that its previous owner took great care of it. Although there are obvious signs of use, it can be seen that it is well maintained.
The silver sparks sprayed joyfully for three or four seconds before slowly stopping.
Jon was a little overwhelmed by the situation at the moment. He himself couldn't figure out why the wand had such a big reaction in his hand.
"It likes you very much."
After the sparks died down, Dumbledore came back to his senses from his nostalgic thoughts and looked at John with emotion and complexity.
"Chestnut wand body, phoenix tail feather wand core, a rare combination. Aside from the current one who doesn't deserve the title, the three consecutive leaders of the Wizengamot have all used chestnut wands, but their wand cores are all made of unicorn hair. This combination is extremely righteous, but if it is replaced with phoenix tail feathers, it becomes more changeable."
He seemed to be very familiar with the information about the wand in Jon's hand, but he only introduced the wand itself and did not mention a word about the person who had used it.
Jon looked at the wand in his hand hesitantly. His intuition told him that this wand must have a story.
"Then who used this wand was...?"
Dumbledore smiled and ruffled his hair.
"I have told enough sad stories today. Let's stop here, child. No matter who used this wand, I believe you will use it well, right?"
"It's mine now?"
"why not?"
Jon put aside his doubts. Since Dumbledore didn't want to say it, he wouldn't continue to ask.
In this magical world, except for the elder wand, one of the three deathly hallows , there is no difference in strength between other wands. It mainly depends on the person who uses the magic.
No matter how many stories this wand has, it belonged to its previous owner. Now all it can bring to Jon is the beginning of his real contact with the world of magic.
All the freshmen received their own wands. After that, Dumbledore did not let them leave immediately. Instead, he gave them all a final instruction in front of them.
"The wands in your hands are all engraved with the magic pattern of the reversal spell. The professors at Hogwarts and the wizards in the Order of the Phoenix will do their best to ensure your safety. But if one day you encounter an accident and your body loses any signs of life, the reversal spell will automatically transmit the wand back to me. This is just a safety measure. Wands are the most scarce resource for us, but at the same time, I don't want to find that one day in the future, there will be an extra wand that you have taken away in this cabinet where wands are stored."
Five freshmen walked out of the principal's office with depressed moods. Professor McGonagall, who was leading the way, felt that they were not in high spirits, so she talked as they walked.
"I will take you to your dormitories first. After you are settled there, Hagrid will probably find a suitable place. Although we are in a carriage now, the tradition of the Hogwarts welcome party has not been lost. Everyone will celebrate for your joining tonight. Then you can relax."
Just as Professor McGonagall finished her words, the ground beneath their feet, which was originally slightly bumpy, suddenly trembled, and then completely calmed down.
Jon's heart was instantly lifted up , because he had a clear understanding of the dangers of this world, so he always remained vigilant. Even though he had not learned a single spell, he still held the wand he had just received tightly in his hand.
The other freshmen, including Navi Ron, also showed panic expressions on their faces, but soon a generous voice sounded in the carriage, which completely dispelled their tension.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived. We can get off the car and prepare for the welcome dinner."
This was Hagrid's voice. At the same time as his voice rang out, some rooms around the corridor suddenly became restless.
Doors were opened one after another, and students of all ages ran out cheering. Most of them saw Professor McGonagall and John and the others standing in the corridor, and immediately stopped their cheerful steps.
A student asked cautiously.
"Professor McGonagall, can we go out now?"
Looking at their expectant faces, Professor McGonagall, who had originally had a stern face, involuntarily relaxed. She sighed and waved her hand.
"Since Hagrid says it's okay, it means it's safe outside. Let's go down and get ready."
"Long live the professor!"
The students cheered and gathered in groups in the corridor, heading towards the entrance hall. Among them, Jon saw a pair of twin brothers with red hair, winking at Ron.
In just a few seconds, like monkeys returning to the mountains, the corridor, which had originally seen a group of people pouring out of the rooms, became empty again.
Only the freshmen who arrived here today were left, staring at Professor McGonagall eagerly.
Professor McGonagall was of course aware of the little plans in their minds, and seeing that they had no luggage to put down except the wands they had just received, she could not help but say helplessly.
"Then you can follow them. Remember not to run around outside. Stay close to the older children and do not leave the area more than 20 meters around the carriage."
"We promise to obey, Professor!"
Ron was the first to run out, and the others followed him out of the carriage.
They have felt enough heaviness and pressure today, and now when they see those energetic senior students, they can't help but smile.
Professor McGonagall stood in the corridor, watching their young figures gradually disappear into the distance. Her old face, which had always been serious, couldn't help but reveal a gentle smile.
Jon followed Neville, Ron and the other four people through the corridor, through the entrance hall, and got off the carriage.
When Lily brought him to the carriage, it was already dark outside, and the night sky was already filled with stars.
The place where they were now was no longer the Muggle town at the foot of the safe house, but a wide beach.
The gentle evening breeze caressed the waves, carrying the sound of the waves echoing in their ears. The carriage carrying the name of Hogwarts was parked on the shore of the sea.
