The second volume is full of glory and splendor in the capital, and the spirit is full of vitality in the foggy city. Chapter 175: Judgment Card

Subtitle of this chapter: Bury the old world and welcome the new world
"Oh, Albert, there's one more thing..."
At this moment, our Master Yuan heard the sound of the Master Ball:
"Ding-ding-ding, congratulations to the host on becoming Albert Einstein's spiritual mentor. Received 'Card: Einstein's Friendship'. Card Effect: Transmutation, Third-Level Spell - Gaseous Form. Card Cooldown: Three Months."
"Using this card will transform the subject and all of their equipment into transparent, ethereal mist."
"For the duration of the spell, the creature can carry all gear and any objects it holds through a small or narrow opening, even a crack. The creature is affected by winds, and it cannot enter water or other liquids."
"Please note that since this plane is a world without magic, the vaporized form can only fly close to the ground at walking speed. This spell only lasts for thirty seconds."
He was certain that with this spell, his chances of success would at least double.
"clatter!"
The Lord Grey Knight glanced around to confirm that no one else was around, then raised his right hand and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, a card appeared before the Grand Mage's eyes.
Einstein subconsciously reached out and took the card that seemed to be made of parchment.
"This is..." Having witnessed another miracle, he looked at the mysterious acting president of the SCP Foundation's North American branch in confusion.
Yuan Yan suddenly smiled slightly, pointed at the card and said, "Albert, take a look for yourself."
The great scientist took a closer look and found that it was an extremely exquisite and ancient parchment card.
The top half of the card was a portrait of himself, his upper body. He had a pair of red wings, hovering above white clouds, playing a violin. The bottom half of the card depicted a hellish scene, with countless naked little people, half-submerged in the mire, reaching out to him in the clouds, seemingly begging for his salvation.
"My friend, this is judgment!" A deep, seductive male voice came to his ears. "Mr. Albert Einstein, as the Fool who guides the way, are you willing to join our SCP Foundation?"
"As I mentioned earlier, the identity of the owner of Judgment Card No. 20 remains uncertain. Crucially, this card has never been seen by the public.
Therefore, there is no evidence that this Judge ever existed in history.
There is a saying that the judge of the SCP Foundation is Heinrich Luitpold Himmler, the captain of the Nazi SS, the Reich Chancellor of the SS, the head of the Nazi German Secret Police (Gestapo), the Chief of Police, and the Minister of the Interior.
Because he was the executioner of the Holocaust against Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, communists, Freemasons, and dissidents. He was also the instigator and agitator of Nazi Germany's Eastern Master Plan against the Soviet Union.
The so-called General Plan Ost (German: Generalplan Ost) was a plan drawn up by Nazi Germany, focusing on how to deal with occupied territories after the Battle of Poland and the Soviet-German War.
Specifically, the plan involved the forced relocation of 30 to 50 million Slavs from Poland and Russia to Siberia and other areas. The Slavic population was also reduced through the extermination of Jews, war, and famine. The land created by the population decline was then filled with German immigrants.
From the perspective of Tarot, he is the Judge who blows the trumpet of Doom. Some people also judge him to be the God of Death in the Major Arcana.
However, I beg to differ. Himmler is at most a minor Arcana on the periphery of the SCP Foundation, not a core member.
Because according to the Nazi top-secret files recently discovered in Argentina, the two Major Arcana of the SCP Foundation, Justice - Julian Chandler and Destiny - Enuka Rochelle, both strongly opposed the Holocaust and the General Plan of the East.
We all know that these two were not only Mr. Yuan Yanshu's close friends and lovers, but also, to some extent, his spokespersons and mouthpieces. Therefore, we can reasonably infer that the fool behind them must also oppose this insane massacre.
In this case, Himmler should not be the judge of the SCP Foundation, otherwise he would follow the instructions of the Fool.
One thing that must be pointed out is that the SCP Foundation's opposition to the Holocaust plan was not based on humanitarianism but on utilitarianism. More precisely, history has proven that the advice they provided to Hitler was correct.
The author studied the archives in Argentina and found that Madame Fate had repeatedly advised Hitler to exile European Jews to the Middle East. She also served as a bridge between the Zionists and the Nazis.
Under her advice, Hitler actually expelled more than one million Jews from Europe, and for this he received billions of dollars in financial aid from Jewish tycoons around the world.
So during and even after World War II, many people believed that the Nazis were actually puppets of the Jews, or at least collaborators. In some countries, such as the United States, anti-Semitism was even stronger than before the war.
At that time, the American people generally opposed the Roosevelt administration's intervention in the European battlefield, partly for this reason.
His Excellency Justice strongly opposed the Eastern Master Plan from the beginning to the end, calling it a "foolish plan that goes against the trend."
He also believed that indiscriminately slaughtering Slavs and Soviet Red Army prisoners of war would not benefit the war at all, but would instead provoke resistance from the local people, who could have been the vanguard and guides of the Nazis.
Although the Nazi leadership at the time was full of die-hard racists, as an important early supporter of the Nazi Party, his opinions were still respected to some extent.
Some German-occupied areas in the east did implement relatively conciliatory policies, and Red Army prisoners of war, including Communist Party members, were not indiscriminately tortured or massacred on the Eastern Front.
In retrospect, the public security in these occupied areas was indeed better than in other areas, and the combat effectiveness of the army composed of Red Army prisoners of war was not bad either.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, due to economic and resource considerations, the Nazis eventually implemented the General Plan Ost.
In addition to Himmler, there is another theory that it was a person from Mr. Yuan’s hometown.
However, historically, this man and the Fool did not have much interaction before the 1940s, so the possibility is quite small.
So who will be the judge?
Let’s first look at the meaning of the penultimate card in the Tarot deck - Judgement.
Due to the influence of Christianity, the trumpet angel on the Judgment Card is believed to be from the Book of Revelation. He brings the four horsemen of the apocalypse, namely war, famine, plague and death, to mankind who are undergoing the final judgment. At that time, the heaven and the earth will be out of balance, the sun and the moon will change color, and then the world will be destroyed.
This judgment is the Last Judgment.
In fact, this is not the case. According to the original meaning of Tarot cards, the angel on the Judgment card is actually the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology - Hermes, whose Roman name is Mercury.
Among the twelve main gods, Hermes, the son of Zeus and Maia, has the most diverse duties: messenger, animal husbandry, commerce, theft, transportation, travel, eloquence, prostitutes, sports and exercise, etc.
Notably, he was the god of science and music, inventing the alphabet, astronomy, and mathematics. In music, he also created the piccolo in addition to the lyre.
In the Tarot, he is the Guide of the Dead. In Greek mythology, after death, people are taken to the underworld by the guiding god Hermes.
So among Mr. Yuan’s circle of friends, who best fits the image of Hermes?
First of all, as a messenger of the gods, he or she must have brought news from "heaven" to mankind.
Secondly, the person should have outstanding achievements in business, sports, science and music.
Finally, this person must be inseparable from death or rebirth.
As I write this, the answer is obvious: it is a well-known friend of Mr. Yuan Yanshu, the greatest scientist of the 20th century, Albert Einstein.
As we all know, the two of them are very good friends, and it is not an exaggeration to say that they are confidants.
They met in Washington as early as 1921. Although Yuan Yanshu was just a young writer who had just emerged, Einstein became his loyal reader, calling him "the greatest science fiction writer" and personally translating his works into German.
This was just the beginning of their friendship. At the end of 1922, Einstein accepted Yuan's invitation and gave several lectures on relativity in China, with Yuan personally serving as his translator. This was a major cultural event in China at the time.
In 1927, Mr. Yuan Yanshu attended the Solvay Physics Symposium held in Brussels in November as a special guest and appeared in the famous group photo.
In 1930, Einstein visited the United States again, this time on the West Coast, primarily to lecture at the California Institute of Technology (CIT). By then, Yuan had already settled partially in Los Angeles. Einstein also attended the dedication ceremony of the "Yuan Manor."
From 1930 to 1932, Einstein stayed in the United States and lived for a long time in a villa in the "Yuan Manor". Mr. Yuan even specially gave it a Chinese name "Duilianglou".
In 1932, the Einsteins returned to Berlin, but within a few months they were politically persecuted for opposing Nazi policies. In December of the same year, they left Germany and never returned to their homeland.
In 1933, the Nazi government raided Einstein's Berlin home, burned his books, confiscated his property, and offered a reward of 100,000 Reichsmarks on his head. Einstein, then a visiting professor at Princeton University, became a naturalized American citizen upon hearing the news.
In 1934, Yuan Yanshu founded the Institute for Advanced Study in Los Angeles, which would later become famous, and appointed himself its president. Einstein gladly accepted his invitation and became the dean of the Institute's School of Science.
From then on, Einstein settled in Los Angeles and was one of the "guests" who lived in the "Yuan Manor" for the longest time.
Then, as a close friend of Mr. Yuan, Einstein is likely to be an important member of the SCP Foundation, the Major Arcana.
Speaking of similarities with Hermes, this great scientist did bring news of the gods to all mankind.
Needless to say, his scientific achievements are great, and he is also a music lover.
The most crucial thing is that although he declared to the public for three or four decades that nuclear weapons were a science fiction delusion, he later made extremely important contributions to the development of nuclear weapons, and the theory of nuclear weapons was based on his mass-energy conversion formula.
You should know that the Judgment card in the Tarot does not mean the end of the world that destroys all living beings, but renewal and awakening.
Judgment represents the death of the old world and the birth of the new. Humanity must make a final assessment of past experiences—a judgment—and then, with the help of divine revelation, move toward a brighter tomorrow.
Einstein did bury the old physics, exposing a whole new world to the world, and at the same time he led scientists on the path of exploring new physics.
From this perspective, he is the messenger of the gods, he is the guide, he is the judge.
Therefore, the author makes a bold guess: Einstein is the judge.”
—Excerpt from Dan Brown's "SCP Code"
"Neo, what is this?"
"Albert, this is an invitation letter, an invitation letter inviting you to join our SCP Foundation."
"Invitation..." The Grand Magister stroked the tarot cards in his hand, then suddenly raised his head and stared at Lord Grey Knight with a burning gaze. He asked, "So, after I become a member of the SCP Foundation, can I also learn magic?"
"Well..." Yuan Yan suddenly smiled and snapped her fingers again.
"clatter!"
"Master Ball, grant the effect of 'Card: Einstein's Friendship' to the Judgment Card, making it a spellcasting item."
"Host, I understand."
He pointed at the tarot card again and said, "Your Excellency, please try to sense the card in your hand."
"Hmm..." Upon hearing this, Einstein immediately turned his attention to the cards.
"Huh..." As expected of a great magician, and with some experience in spellcasting, it didn't take him long to activate this card on his own.
"Ah..." The great scientist suddenly felt something strange and finally found himself turned into a ball of empty gas.
The gaseous Einstein was so excited that he couldn't even speak clearly: "Day after day after day... Ahhhhhhhhhh..."
"Your Excellency, please take two steps." Master Yuan pointed to Lake Carnegie in front of them.
The Grand Mage really floated onto the lake...
"Oh my God, how, how, how... did you two end up like this?!"
The Grand Mage and the Grey Knight, both drenched in sweat, exchanged glances and pointed at each other, saying, "Mr. Einstein/Mr. Yuan accidentally fell into the water..."
Well, actually, the Judge was so excited that he forgot the time while flying, and he fell into the lake.
But the fool would not sit idly by and watch his newly recruited men drown, so he had to go into the water himself and fish out the greatest scientist of the 20th century.
