The Real Hogwarts Chapter 88 The Balance of Hogwarts Castle

"You've been the librarian for almost four years." Snape stared at Quirrell and said indifferently.
Quirrell's body trembled unconsciously, and he stammered in response.
"Yes, yes, sir, including today, this year is already my fourth year at Hogwarts."
"You should know very well that you are not qualified to stay in the castle because of your mixed blood. It was because the master saw that you have a solid foundation of knowledge and respect for knowledge that he approved you to become a librarian. Is this how you repay the master's trust?"
Snape's voice was not loud, but just loud enough for everyone present to hear. After hearing his last words, Quirrell's body trembled even more violently. Without hesitation, he eagerly explained what he had originally planned to tell little Barty.
"But, but the restricted book section of the library, especially the books above level three, is only allowed to be checked once every five years according to the rules, sir!" Quirrell's eyes revealed panic, and he spoke quickly, "I was appointed as the librarian four years ago. The books in the restricted book section were checked by the previous administrator the year before I took office. According to the records at that time, there was no problem. It was only this week that it was time for the check again. I discovered the problem tonight, and then I prepared to report it to the higher-ups immediately!"
Snape listened to his explanation, but his expression did not change at all, and a sarcastic smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"Report to the higher-ups? Which higher-ups are you talking about? In the absence of the master, who is the manager of this castle?"
Quirrell was obviously stumped by his series of three questions. In the night when the temperature had already reached single digits, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead due to nervousness. He stammered for a long time but couldn't utter a word.
Just when he was in such an embarrassing situation, a sudden interruption helped Quirrell out of the predicament.
"You are being a little too sensitive, Snape."
In the dark corridor, Barty Crouch Jr. walked out from the darkness with a faint smile on his face.
"Although I have not been appointed by the master to any management position in the castle, I am still the special commissioner of the Ministry of Magic stationed in Hogwarts and I am directly responsible to the master. When encountering any emergencies, they think of reporting to me first. Isn't this a normal practice ?"
After Barty Crouch Jr. came here, Quirrell and Dolohov consciously shut their mouths completely. There was no place for them to interrupt in the situation.
Barty Jr. did have only one position as a Charms professor in Hogwarts Castle, but all the faculty and staff in the castle knew very well that his status was completely different from that of other professors.
At the beginning, when Voldemort took control of the castle and decided to divide the students into three categories, pure-blood, half-blood and mudblood, he was also considering who would be the dean of the pure-blood and half-blood colleges.
At that time, almost all Death Eaters believed that the headmaster of this pure-blood college would definitely be one of Bellatrix Lestrange and Barty Crouch Jr.
Because these two people can almost be said to be Voldemort's right-hand men. Not only are they from the purest and most ancient pure-blood families, they also have loyalty far beyond that of everyone else.
But what no one expected was that Bella was not assigned any nominal position, and she still helped Voldemort to indirectly manage the Death Eaters. Barty Jr. did not even mention it, but directly announced that Snape, who was also considered a core among the Death Eaters but whose status was far lower than that of Bella and Barty Jr., would be the dean of the Pure-Blood Academy and concurrently serve as the only vice-president.
No one dared to express the slightest dissatisfaction with Voldemort's decision, but equally few Death Eaters or faculty members at Hogwarts were convinced that Snape had been given this position.
The main reason for this is not that he is not strong enough or has not made enough contributions, but that everyone knows that this pure-blood dean is of mixed-blood origin!
In the current wizarding world that follows the rules set by Voldemort and where bloodline is the only criterion, a half-blood wizard has a higher status than other almost pure-bloods, and even serves as the dean of a pure-blood academy. This is a shame for the pure-bloods, especially the old pure-bloods who have followed Voldemort from the beginning.
It is said that Voldemort originally wanted to let Barty Jr. serve as the head of the Half-Blood class, but later he suddenly changed his mind and let a witch from the Greengrass family, who was relatively gentle compared to other Death Eaters, become the head of the Half-Blood class and the professor of Transfiguration in the castle.
Barty Crouch Jr. was given the position of an ordinary Charms professor, but in the end he was given a new title, which had never happened before: Special Commissioner of the Ministry of Magic, who was directly responsible to Voldemort himself.
This made little Batty's status in the castle become transcendent.
A somewhat strange situation also formed among the faculty and staff in the castle. Although Snape was nominally the vice-principal and had the full power to manage school affairs in Voldemort's absence, other faculty and staff, even Quirrell who was also of mixed-blood, did not trust him and basically only followed orders and not announcements.
Barty the Charms professor, due to his noble family background and well-known ruthlessness, actually has the same authority as the vice-headmaster, but he has no nominal command power. When the faculty and staff encounter problems, they can either report to Snape immediately or go to him.
There are also a small number of professors who just want to teach honestly, including the half-blood dean, Professor Greengrass, who has always been respected by half-blood students because of his friendly attitude even though he is a pure-blood .
This balance has been stable in Hogwarts Castle for six or seven years, allowing this magic school, which Voldemort had just taken over, to remain trouble-free. In addition, the mixed-race students who graduate every year are very accepting of the current bloodline hierarchy system in the wizarding world.
After all, their lives were no different from before, they just had to accept the privileges of purebloods with a pinch of their noses. The existence of pureblood professors like Greengrass made them believe that there were still good people among purebloods. Only a small group of people would act recklessly because of such privileges, but some of the benefits taken away by purebloods could be recovered from mudbloods.
As for those Mudbloods...
The pureblood and half-blood masters were kind-hearted and knew that these slaves had a hard life, so they simply pretended not to see their existence. After all, mudbloods were lowly and would look down on them when they saw them.
